"There were no survivors." - next day's Chicago headlines(in reality everyone survived, they just would be desperate to sell newspapers in this bizarre pseudo-future of 2150)

That is just fucking nuts. Everyone involved in that new stadium deal needs to be thrown in jail. Corrupt politics and/or idiot politics (or both) at its finest.

The uglier aspect about the whole thing is that they did it to get away from black people. It's a perfect example of white flight and they are simply acting on the beliefs that when made public forced the Hawks owner to sell.

Fister doesn't surprise me at all after the year he had, but Span? I think he'll end up doing very nice for himself this winter, probably something like 4/50.

Pretty sure this is going to be the year where a player finally accepts the offer. With 20 players getting them including some middle of the road guys like Anderson, Estrada, Kennedy, and Murphy, it seems pretty likely.

Not really. The city of Atlanta refused to compromise with Braves ownership to help revitalize what is a pretty bad area of town. Additionally, city leadership bent over backwards to keep the Falcons, who play 8 home games, while stiffing the Braves, who play 81. The "idiot politics" are taking place with Atlanta mayor Kasim Reed, not with Cobb Co., who saw a chance to raise the profile of their county. Also, the Braves are moving to where the densest population of their season ticket base is. To say they're moving away from "black people" is only accurate if you mean they're moving further from the city of Atlanta, which is majority minority. The truth is that they're moving closer to where people who spend money on baseball are...

The only one that may be a possibility of accepting is Colby Rasmus, who got a one year deal last offseason around February.

You mean Cobb County's profile wasn't already raised because of the Big Boss Man? It was mentioned in his theme song for goodness sake!

Anderson did the same and wasn't coming of a 3 WAR season.

The pitchers are in a good situation because of how strong the FA market is - plenty of teams need pitching, and those who strike out on the top tier guys could get desperate and back up the truck for the Anderson/Estrada guys. Same thing happened with Garza/Lohse/Ubaldo.

Teams in smaller parks with good hands around the infield could do a lot worse than Anderson if he stays healthy. GB rate of 67% on balls in play. He turned out to be an excellent acquisition in a year that really needed a solid third guy in that rotation.

I'm not sure that anyone would be chomping to throw 3 or 4 years at him, but I could see him getting 2 @ 30 or $32MM.
