grilledcheese
Darin Erstad to be interviewed for the vacant job in Los Angeles. He's been the skipper at Nebraska for the last 4 years and done pretty well with them, record of 139-91 in his time there. Probably not going to get the job, I figure it's Kapler's, but I like that they are making it look like they are really searching for someone. Serious Darius Bagfelt
It was just a weird situation here for years. Beeston reluctantly came back to be president of the team. Then there was the clusterfuck of Rogers trying to hire Kenny Williams or Dan Duquette after Beeston campaigned for Tom Werner to be new commissioner so Beeston could go back to work for MLB. The president situation should have been cleared up years ago but they probably didn't figure AA wouldn't want to work with the new guy
odessasteps
They also went behind Beeston's back to talk to Reinsdorf, who is best pals w Beeston.
Serious Darius Bagfelt
The press really played up the Beeston as a victim angle though truth was he wasn't really interested in making a commitment to the team or trying to aid in transitioning. Of course all the while the press ridiculed Beeston on his vetoing of deals and his contract limits. This has played perfectly for AA. A run in the playoffs where they were lucky to get by Texas and where 4 of his 5 deadline acquisitions underperformed but he leaves a conquering hero. He wont be here next year when this goes to shit, maybe, and guys like Bautista and Encarnacion will need to be moved
Joe Lucia
I don't think it's fair to compare Anthopolous not doing anything at prior deadlines to what he did this year, if only because they had *no* shot from 2010-13 despite hovering around .500 because of how deep the AL East was. Records on July 31st... 2010: 54-50, 12.5 out, 4th place 2011: 55-53, 12 out, 4th place 2012: 51-52, 9 out, 5th place 2013: 50-57, 14 out, 5th place 2014: 60-50, 1.5 out, 2nd place 2015: 53-51, 6 out, 2nd place Yeah, they probably should have done something last year like they did this year, but the market *was* batshit insane and the cost for Price would've been a lot higher. Serious Darius Bagfelt
It was just the optics last year. They didn't really need a Price level acquisition just a move of some sort. The team last year really pulled the chute after the deadline
Serious Darius Bagfelt
Not going to belabor the discussion anymore but I think AA is a bright guy and is a better GM today than a couple of years ago but he is never going to be in the situation again that he was here. I am willing to see Toronto scuffle for a couple of years if they build a better organization. Tired of seeing kids come up to the main roster and look totally unprepared to be a big time ballplayer
Joe Lucia
I don't disagree with that part of the argument at all. I also think he left the organization in a better place than it was when he was promoted, but that's another discussion.

Jiji
They did two last Spring as well, 96000 attended. Expos should be a thing but I don't know if you can get away with using the O as even a stop gap.
Serious Darius Bagfelt
Never happen. Nobody locally would pay for a team to move it there and the Quebec government isn't going to build something for a team. Getting the Nordiques back in Quebec city is a far bigger priority
Death From Above
And they already have a brand new arena they gambled on (and the government took a ludicrously terrible deal with some weird lease loopholes) to get in an effort to help on the hockey front. RIPPA
A “source aligned with” recently fired ex-Marlins GM Dan Jennings told Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald that Jennings’ relationship with owner Jeffrey Loria deteriorated because they didn’t see agree on some lineup decisions. The key disagreement, it turns out, had to do with outfielder Marcell Ozuna. While Jennings was “more than eager” to play the 24-year-old (25 in November), Loria was losing confidence in him. The owner also pushed for Ozuna to play in right field rather than center at times because he was out of shape, but Jennings refused and did as he pleased in at least one instance, according to the source. grilledcheese
I hope MIA stays in the cellar forever. Loria is such a dirtbag. I hate that there are so many guys there that I like, but I'll just root for them after they get dealt or sign elsewhere.

Craig H
Aww...look at this raccoon...out in daylight...a possible indicator of rabies...trying to attack our dumbass lab retriever. That's so cute, let's video tape it. It's not like we can't pickup rabies from the saliva of the raccoon on our dog, or at least our dog won't get rabies, since his shots are up to date. Ryan
It's more than likely a domesticated raccoon if they're going to let it do that. It would attack you otherwise or run away.
Craig H
I realize that, but that is just as blatantly stupid as a raccoon isn't an animal you can domesticate and avoid any of the zoonotic diseases they naturally carry.
