SummerSlam XXVIII

My WWE Network app on xbox 360 keeps skipping during the replay of NXT, will it be like this for the live feed of SS?

I'm trying to watch the NXT replay on my laptop and I'm getting the same thing. I've never had this problem before, but it's really irritating me. If it keeps up during Summerslam, I'm just gonna say fuck it and try to watch both shows another day.

I switched to my tablet, no problems so far. Xbox app is a joke.

Crowd is molten.

If memory serves, Lesnar's SummerSlam matches with Punk and Hunter being no holds barred were day-of announcements. I'm holding out hope for the same tonight given the nature of the build.

I'm fairly certain they announced Taker/Brock being no dq the second week of build up.

I switched to my tablet as well.

...and the tablet is freezing up like the laptop. Fuck it, this is like trying to watch scrambled porn when I was 13 years old.

I watched this show on my phone while playing Civ, even though I wasn't planning on watching it because the card looked awful, and man, was this the most Perfectly Acceptable Show ever. This was like the Form of the Good for Perfectly Acceptable Shows.

Sheamus/Orton was better for being shorter than the Battleground match.

The New Day should be in the main event with Big E as champ and his two little friends cheating like mad on the outside to keep it on him.

Ziggler is so bad that even Rusev couldn't get him to anything more than average. Summer Rae was the best worker in that match somehow.

Amell as FIP was an odd choice. I appreciate the company giving a different type of feud for diversity's sake, but Stardust is so awful as to be embarrassing.

Poor Roman Reigns. He was getting booed, and I felt bad for him. Ambrose has the shittiest and worst offense in the company right now. Staggeringly bad. He tried to rebound off the ropes outside and did a weird spinny thing on the apron for no discernible reason. It looked stupid. Luke Harper was the wrestling version of Shane Battier yet again, the glue guy that gets the little shit done and keeps things on lock while the starters are on the bench (or as the crowd put it, "Roman's sleeping!"). He was great and really made this match into a solid tag match.

Miz as opportunist elevated that triple threat from mediocrity to something quick and reasonably decent.

Davey Richards had another twenty-minute spotfest with Cena. Those are getting old, and Richards had some absurdly stupid offense in th--wait, that was Seth Rollins? Oh, okay, sure, anyway, these indyriffic Cena spotfests lose their luster with each month. I really enjoyed them at first, but their novelty has rapidly worn off. The Stewart thing made zero sense either. They wasted the Cena U.S. Open Challenge on Rollins instead of using it to elevate Cesaro, Owens, Neville, anyone. The difference between the booking on this show and the booking on last night's TakeOver show is just so, so stark. One show rewards you for sticking with its narratives via logical booking, and the other does stupid swerve shit just to do it.

Sasha Banks being in an all-time classic last night and then in this whatever match the next night is also a pretty stark comparison. It was what it was; disjointed and a waste of Becky and Sasha, but not offensive or anything. We want Sasha, indeed. Love that she got massive cheers every time she tagged in.

Owens and Cesaro was sorta disappointing. They threw a bunch of bombs and then there was a resthold and they kinda lost me. Owens talking shit is always good, though. I feel that Owens is something of a different guy on NXT, where he works a sort of old-school heel style with impressive fat man high spots sprinkled in, and on the main shows, where he works indy PWG spotfest guy matches. I prefer NXT Owens. It was okay and at least Owens actually won a match again.

Taker is so old and lame and Lesnar is so cool and the best. I did think it was funny that Lesnar's kryptonite is still the stand-up game, though! Taker getting control early via strikes and winning punchfests was clever. However, everything got really slow and lost me. Stuff that was cool: "Suplex city, bitch!" and "I'll kill you, you son of a bitch!" and Lesnar bleeding and looking like a psychopath. Also, if you colored the Undertaker's hair white, he would have looked like a really tall Phyllis Diller when he sat up and started mocking Lesnar's laughter. That made me chuckle just thinking of it. They went into finisher trading really early, though, or at least it felt like it. Just wasn't feeling it, but it wasn't bad or anything leading up toward the finish. I think that it was hurt by coming after two other matches predicated on bomb-throwing.

Then there was that finish, which, WTF? Like WT actual F? Why do they run these matches where they need to protect guys so then they have idiotic contrived finishes? That was stupid. What the actual shit. Man, it just KILLED that crowd, too. It's like someone in the back was like, "Hey the finish to Cena/Rollins was utterly shitty, but we think we can top it!" Then they somehow did.

Man, this show's booking was the very opposite of NXT's. With the exception of TND winning when they actually should have, this was a mess in terms of booking. Almost nothing was satisfying, and actually, it's like they went out of their way to make this show totally unsatisfying from a booking standpoint. The wrestling, however, was fine. I don't think there was one match better than Sasha/Bayley, Finn/Owens, Liger/Breeze, or Vaudevillains/Blake and Murphy, though. The tag scramble came close, but Sin Cara was so shitty that I have to knock it down a notch.

Can someone please put Vince out of his misery.  He took two of the biggest matches of the PPV and ruined them with horrible finishes.

But think of all of the mainstream attention it will get so who cares how shitty it was.  I mean please

It's amazing that Jon Stewart managed to fuck up that spot.

not actually sure the  main events of that show warrant more than flippant reaction gifs

The Brock/Taker match was fantastic until the ending.  And even that at least gave us a genuine way to win like a heel without interference.

The bad;

Absolute horseshit finishes in both mains.

Sasha being a non factor.

Charlotte and Becky being glorified onlookers.

The 3 way

The good;

Owens winning

New Day awesomeness

Rollins being a boss

Brock

That finish sucked so much

The fucking funny part is the Taker/Lesnar match was pretty fucking great. Like it was a complete "Even at 50, Undertaker still kinda rocks" performance. Then the ending took all the good will away.

The only thing that is left is for Heyman to try to roll the footage tomorrow of Taker tapping only to have it break up. BROTEHR I ROLLE DUNDER HT ROPE< AMCHO!!!

And here's the time where we bash WWE, and say we'll never watch again and blah, blah, blah.

Was this better than NXT? Not even close, but this PPV was fine.

The finish to the main event was fine enough.  Obviously it's building to something else.

So during this show we got a Double Countout, Jon Fucking Stewart altering a major title match, and a screwjob finish that came across like bullshit.

Welcome to WCW.

If this were WCW, Jon Stewart would be WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

I'm actually curious to see where the Stewart thing goes. WWE almost never has me curious to see where ANYTHING goes.

I liked it better when I thought for a brief moment that Undertaker was playing mind games to get the advantage. But, nah, just weird WWE booking. I guess this is how we come to Lesnar/Taker 3 at 'Mania next year, huh? -_-

Rollins as the White Power Ranger was interesting. Count me in the minority but I liked the finish - maybe because I was desperate for Cena not to win. My heart went into my stomach every time he got a near fall. I'm just a huge Rollins mark, I love him as this weird "chickenshit heel/kinda cool face" dynamic he's had lately.
