Charlie managed to shame the family yet again today. He went to the puppy park today, and stopped to do his business. At the same time the small white dog stopped for a sniff. You can still see the spot on his head where it landed. After a quick clean-up they resumed play. As usual, we were more embarrassed than the other dog's owner.

Our first family dog, Tess passed away on this date three years ago. When we got Rayven, we found out she was born on the date we lost Tess. Today brings mixed feelings, celebrating Rayven's birthday and mourning Tess:

Bruce is starting to get a little thick after a few months of living with us.  We got him some new battery powered toys to chase around and are trying to play with him more, but little dude still eats like he's out on the street and might never get the opportunity again.  Hopefully he'll figure out the deal soon.

If you need to resort to portion control & only putting meals out at mealtimes, they sell pet feeders that run on a timer.  Worked wonders for our cat

We've been considering that, but we have two other cats who are at a healthy weight and have always been used to eating when they please and we're not sure how to accommodate all 3.

I can't imagine the cacophony if we tried that with the gang of ten. They're used to having dry food available 24/7 and dinner time is four of the little cans split 9 ways (Sandor won't have anything to do with canned food). It's more of a treat than a meal, but they start giving us the eye around 4PM, and woe should dinner not be served promptly at 5PM! When it's this nice (constant 80s and 90s), we just leave the doors open 24/7 so they can come and go as they please. Works well unless someone decides to "surprise" us with a bird at the crack of dawn as occurred yesterday morning.
