Dewar
El Salvador's captain gets tossed, then proceeds to take 3 minutes to leave the pitch. Moments later, the El Salvador keeper clearly steps on someone's leg who was laying on the ground, no foul called.

Dewar
Handball not called, a minute later El Salvador comes down and scores, 2-1 now, and Canada is pretty much done.
Jiji
Did you guys read about the players from El Salvador's team holding a press conference to discuss the shitty deal some Honduran sleaze ball tried to cut with them for throwing today's game? $3000 a player. Come on now. Football is fucked at all levels.
odessasteps
I asked how that would translate for a US/Canadian and someone said the median income in El Slavador is $660, so $3000 is a lot of money but not life changing money.
Death From Above
The whole story is weird, how bizarre is that "we want you to lose. Or win, that works too" um, okay?
odessasteps
The rumor yesterday was it was a Honduran businessman possibly behind it who wanted to make sure they got to the Hex.

Cristobal
So he tried to get the game fixed for the princely sum of $33K? The last team to take a dive that cheaply was the Black Sox.
ReiseReise
Apparently he offered to pay for them to win, draw or loose by only one goal. That's not really what bribery is. It's more like a sort of bonus pay.

Roman
I have to hand it to Belgium: that was a fun match. Of course, as always, the fans show they're the cunts they've always been by booing Lukaku for missing.

AxB
It's Gibraltar! No Gibraltan team would ever win a game of football - any game of football - against a team from a proper footballing country. Not the national side, not a club side, nothing. Is Mag 7 ever coming back? I'd hate to think this level or trolling would go to waste.

No really, he's an actual rock.
sabremike
You actually have people on ESPN who are supposed to be intelligent soccer analysts condoning a guy giving Neymar a UFC style elbow strike because he's "cocky". I must've missed when FIFA introduced a new law where you can assault an opposing player if you don't like their attitude.
AxB
Are they ex-players from the 80s? Because that's the mentality everyone had back then, and for a long time before it

If you ever run into a Working Class Britisher who's over 50 years of age, and you mention you like Soccer, he'll get onto "In my day, Football were a man's game..." pretty quick. Death From Above
It's prevalent in pretty much every sport. I get why networks put microphones in front of ex-players, but I feel like it's really caused a serious downturn in actual quality of broadcasts overall despite whatever insights they bring. There are way too many guys that need to tell us how great the game was when they played.
