Kuetsar
One Million Moms is officially boycotting the new Muppets show. http://www.dailydot.com/entertainment/one-million-moms-muppets-petition/ The mature version of “The Muppets” will cover a range of topics from sex to drugs. Miss Piggy came out as a pro-choice feminist during an MSNBC interview. The puppet characters loved by kids in the 1970s and 1980s and beyond are now weighing in on abortion and promiscuity. ABC hopes children watch the show and predict they would enjoy some of the humor, but 1MM would disagree. It is not the show it once was. ABC has ruined "The Muppets." The show premieres tonight at 8! As much as I tend to disagree with these type of groups in general, they have a point. You can make the muppets as "modern" as you want, but there was no need to get political. The muppets, of all things, should be an all inclusive family show. . .

Matt D
Yeah, there was a ton of subtext, a ton. It was clever, in part because it was subtext. From the previews, this is really in your face, and thus a heck of a lot less clever. It's the difference between indirectly having these elements in a performance based muppet show and directly making the show about these elements. Huge difference.
The Unholy Dragon
Honestly the new series is hilarious. First episode aired last night in Canada so I watched on demand today. Really clever, funny stuff with good use of character. One line in particular had my wife in stitches for a good while. We're both fussy about comedy but this is super worth checking out. cool arrow
This has nothing to do with the show, or even the Muppets per se, but it's hard for me to believe Jim Henson's been dead for a quarter century.
TheVileOne
I love the Muppets, and I enjoyed. But yet again, I will be surprised if it lasts longer than six episodes. I think it will either be seen as a brilliant evolution or a betrayal of the traditional Muppets by some of the purists.
nate
Some of the fundamental arguments about this incarnation of the Muppets seem similar to those that came about when that "Looney Tunes" series was on Cartoon Network a few years back. J.H.
This show is trying to hard. I didn't really laugh once. So far I am underwhelmed James
Kuetsar
Its pleasant enough, but I'm probably not giving it a second shot. . . . .
The Unholy Dragon
"Talk to god about lilacs." Made me howl.
wrestlerotica
I really didn't think it was that bad, I wasn't blown away or anything. But I'll watch the second episode.
mco543
I thought it was thoroughly mediocre but I'll give it a few more chances to see if it can hit it's stride.
J.H.
I've also hated the new voices for Statler and Waldorff for awhile now James
WholeFnMachine
I have to say I thought it was fun, not amazing Jim Henson era hilarious, but fun.
Dolfan in NYC
Got a very "Early 30 Rock" vibe from it. I mean that in a very good way.

jstout
People expect WAY too much out of 30 minutes of television. Show was fine. It reminded me of "30 Rock" at times, too.
Jingus
I was mostly bored, until RIKI FUCKING LINDHOME showed up as Fozzy's girlfriend. And now I must demand that Kate Micucci get bussed in to date Gonzo.

elizium
Everything with the band was great. Zoot thinking the production meeting was AA (I guess NA is probably more likely) killed me. Imagine Dragons should know better than to invite Animal on the road, those guys would be dead in a week. Enjoyed the show, wasn't crazy hilarious or anything, but I'll stick with it. Second the love of Garfunkel and/or Oates showing up as Fozzy's girlfriend.

Cliff Hanger
I want more of Sam the Eagle as BS&P.
elizium
I want more of Sam the Eagle as BS&P. Basically everything but the Piggy/Kermit melodrama was gold. Unfortunately, that took up the bulk of the show.
Matt D
I didn't mind it as much as I thought I would. The gags were good. I'd say that the gags were good at times and everything else wasn't so good. The A story, the B story, and the C story. We've just lost musical numbers and skits for situation comedy as the bridge between said gags, which is a shame.
Phantom Lord
I loved the show. I thought the bear line was so damn funny. My favorite part was during the meeting and Zoot sits up and is like "Meeting...oh hi, my name is..." and Dr. Teeth responds "not that kind of meeting".
