JUNE 2015 WRESTLING DISCUSSION

So? There's a fat people movement that landed a large woman on the cover of People magazine. Fat in wrestling has been there for a long time. Haystacks, Dusty Rhodes, Dick Murdoch, King Kong Bundy, Viscera, Yokozuna, Umaga....and a long list of others, have all been fat and successful in wrestling.

Yes, I am perfectly aware of that.  And half of those names listed are some of my favorites to watch in the ring.

And really, you're quoting a "fat people movement" in your argument?  Seriously?

The problem, as noted, is not that Hero had gained weight, but that he seemed completely uninterested in fixing it.  WWE has a certain standard they want their workers to maintain, and he didn't appear to be doing so, for whatever reason (motivation, injuries, etc).

That doesn't mean Chris Hero is a bad worker.  It means he's not what WWE wants.

My point was that the thought of cosmetics dictatating drawing power is clearly an innaccurate assesment given current cultural trends and previous history on the matter.

Now that people have gone explaining it being an attitude issue, ok. Not the first guy to have that problem, just weird. The guy has dedication for what he does, but he doesn't seemingly want to do what it takes to get to that final ledge. Maybe he's just not wired that way.

Or.. y'know... He was injured and couldn't.

Haven't seen Dave say anything on Twitter either. Obviously a conspiracy against TNA I'm sure.

There was this blurb

So now the pressure is on Paul Levesque and that department to get guys who have potential to some day be big players into NXT and signed to merchandising deals before they go to a company (ROH or TNA) that has merchandising deals and national cable deals in North America, and create a pipeline to find the ones with potential before ROH & TNA.

This all relates to the Kevin Steen ROH figure comin out or something. Apparently Dave said this was all over something petty.

Triple H released a statement denying Chyna's claims he hit her. Say what you want about him, but it's very difficult to imagine him as a woman beater.

Oh, and now I can imagine Hunter going "I did nawt hit her, I did nawt!" Tommy Wiseau-style.

I can see Chyna being warped enough for that to make him Ike Turner in her mind.

Seriously though, it's a shame. Last I heard she was teaching kids in Japan English and was doing, well, OKish. Compared to before anyway.

And then Russo did that interview with her and was like "Oh, you have to get back into wrestling!" even though it's obvious to anyone with a brain that that is the last thing she needs.

It's always something petty with them.

On the subject of the Kofi/Brock match coming up this popped in my head. What if they have Kofi win MITB, cash in on the winner of Seth/Dean just to feed him to Lesnar for the belt at the Japan show? Bear with me if this doesn't make sense. Also if this has been talked about before. I'm halfway into this blunt right now. Been a LONG ASS month...

Anyone else want to hear what he comes up with when he gets to the end of that blunt? No?

This thread requires less fantasy booking of Kofi Kingston as world champion, and more theme music of someone who should have been a world champion (not counting that WCW International title shit).

Five glorious minutes of the greatest entrance music in wrestling history. Now hit the music!

That theme is amazing and would only have been better if the video had five minutes of Rude hitting the Rude Awakening (best pro wrestling finisher ever, by the way) as it played.

He didn't have the legs for it.

This will never happen but...

I want the Brock/Kofi match to lead to a Brock Vs. New Day tag title match. Brock's partner will be...

Paul Heyman.

Brock then proceeds to destroy New Day 3 On 1 to win the tag titles. And ostensibly defend the Tag Titles by himself.

For someone at work who can't watch the video, is the theme "Simply Ravishing"? I love that one.

Did anybody in the UK watch 'When Wrestling Was Golden' on BBC4 last night? It profiled the old glory days of British wrestling. Mick McManus, Jackie Pallo, Adrian Street. Then moving on to Big Daddy vs Giant Haystacks and the decline of wrestling' popularity here.

The problem with the show was that it implied that wrestling fell off the planet in the 1980s when ITV cancelled World of Sport. It didn't even mention US or Japanese wrestling.

PWInsider has a little bit more on the WWE/EVOLVE deal.

Is this really such great news for Indy wrestling as a whole? I don't know. Great news for Gabe and EVOLVE, for sure, but doesn't sound like great news for PWG, CZW, Chikara and all the other Indies out there to me.

Top level Indy wrestlers now have to face the decision, if they want to sign with EVOLVE, which doesn't guarantee a WWE contract at all, but does waive away the possibility of working for TNA and ROH.

For fuck's sake, Steve.
