Trainwreck is the annual summer comedy movie that rates higher than expected with the critics and does well at the box office..  I think Neighbors was the comedy last summer.

I have a lot riding on Mission Impossible, but the early box office estimates don't sound too promising so far.  I need the critics to give it some buzz.

Sandler is toxic right now.   Those Sony leaks pretty much confirm the people behind the scenes know his shit stinks, but people keep buying it so they keep selling it.

Not sure if low critical buzz and Sandler's recent bad press will significantly affect his box office numbers, but if it bombs, I feel the entertainment media will go in on him.

Admittedly, I actually thought the CGI/SFX in the Pixels trailer looked pretty good.

It has 5 fresh reviews now - so it probably will barely stay ahead of Hot Pursuit.

In scanning reviews - it seems most of the positive ones are either IT ISN'T AS SHITTY AS OTHER ADAM SANDLER FILMS!!!! or VIDEO GAMES RULE NO MATTER WHAT!

Meanwhile Mission Impossible Rogue Nation has opened with 14 positive, one negative review. I'm basically posting this solely to create panic.

The last one ended up with like a 91% RT score, so it being good is within the realm of possibility.

God - so it appears Pixels will have a chance of not even being the SECOND worst rated movie in our pool.

(It's at 20% which ties it with Aloha - hopefully there are a lot of shitty reviews coming this weekend)

I also felt the need to point out that Ben Sachs from the Chicago Reader gave Pixels a fresh review while giving Minions Inside Out a negative review

(He also gave Minions a negative review but that isn't as bad as the negative I/O one which was what my point originally was supposed to be)

How can anyone have given Pixels a fresh review? I mean just from a career standpoint, Sandler hasn't made a decent original film in years. I can't imagine anyone walked into this even if they are a total mark for early 80's video games thinking "this is gonna be amazing".

Man, you really hate Adam Sandler almost as much as piranesi loves the Wendy's chick.

It's more I have Pixels dead last on my RT list so I would like it to be down there.

Likely due to how low the expectations are for Adam Sandler skewing the curve for it.

Sandler has gone past "hasn't made a decent original film in years" to "hasn't made a film that's remotely watchable in years". As a result, a film that peaks as "mediocre" suddenly seems like Sandler's best original film in years.
