2015 Summer Blockbuster Movie Pool

So I went to see a late showing of Jurrassic World tonight (in 3D and one of those RPX deals I mentioned a page or so back). Theater was like 75% full. The regular 3d showing before and after was sold out.

In worse news for those of us who didn't put Inside Out on their lists...so was the next late showing of that as well.

Inside Out outperformed even the most optimistic of estimates and banked $91M, making it Pixar's 2nd largest opening weekend, behind Toy Story 3, which made $110.3M in 2010.

Yay!

Jurassic World retained its #1 position at the weekend box office with a less-than-expected -51% decline for a $102M take.

Uh, oh.  JW is poised to be this Summer's BO winner if it keeps up that pace.   This would've murdered my ballot... if I had put one in.

Ted 2 is getting the Avengers 2 negative swerve.

I love the Despicable Me movies, but we all knew that Minions was a cash grab.  Who really expected it to get stellar reviews?

I think Ted 2 will be at least top 4 for the weekend. There's plenty of people who just want to go and see something dumb and stupid (i'm contemplating seeing it). The only thing that will hurt it is the fact that it isn't in 3D. That's where Jurassic World, Minions, Inside Out are all getting a shitload of their money from.

Termynator: Genysys also has 4 reviews already. So far 3 rotten 1 fresh.

Edit: I don't know why, but now it's 4 rotten 0 fresh.

It's now 6 reviews... still only one fresh

Ted 2 looks like it will do better RT wise than I thought since it seems to be hovering around that high 40s range

Inside Out has cracked 200 reviews (216 to be exact) and only has 4 negative reviews. So it and Mad Max are still battling it out.

Rippa is still first?  RIGGED~!

America's collective intellect is redeemed .  Ted 2 underperformed historically.

Jurassic World is going to be the summer headknocker.

Well I am more first sorta by default since I avoided putting a lot of the early movies on my list.

Like I didn't put Mad Max or Spy on my lists - so their success didn't bone me.

I have already messed up Avengers vs. Jurassic World.

I also had Minions ahead of Inside Out in BO. I am a fool.

In hindsight, putting Minions over Inside-Out on the box office list was probably a bad move, but I think there was a legit case to do it before the game started.  The Despicable Me franchise has done very well at the box office, and I think the movies have made more money than a couple of the recent Pixar movies(I'll have to double check).  Inside-Out was getting good early reviews, but I didn't think it would get the same level of marketing/promotion as Minions.

With how much money Inside-Out is pulling in, it looks as if I figured wrong though.  I'm still hoping Minions can pull in a good number from the box office.

To be fair - it might end up being that I just flip flopped Minions and Inside Out (similar to Avengers and Jurassic World) so my Top 4 would be the right movies in just the slightly wrong order.

Trainwreck is probably the make or break movie on my list
