I don't remember if I fell to last right away last year but I held onto that spot for nearly the entire summer, I was so disappointed when i moved to second to last for the last couple weeks. So it can probably be done. But now that Tomorrowland has busted my picks I'm coming for the spot that was taken from me last year.

There are some who think Bradley Cooper is a draw but The Hangover I think was more "Right place, right time" as it came out in the middle of Summer and people were maybe a little burnt out on the blockbusters and American Sniper was a lot of "America, Fuck yeah"

I really like Cooper though. Weird seeing him and Clooney tank in back-to-back weeks.

It's an interesting discussion, but I don't think anyone is a singular, big draw leading man anymore.  I was lurking upcoming movies thread and someone said(paraphrasing)"The Rock isn't really a big draw" and I instinctly thought, "Well, who is really then?".

Franchises are draws now.  I think it helps to have big names in franchises, but I don't think those same big name actors can just crank out any movie in this era and expect it to get big money because who is in it.  If the movie doesn't look interesting and/or have good marketing, it can still tank.

San Andreas made a little over $50 mil on a non-holiday weekend.  IIRC, this is the Rock's best draw for a movie where he is the lead guy and not part of an ensemble cast.

Age of Ultron's global BO stands at $1.32 Billion.

Which has no bearing on this contest - since SKOS hates the Rock as much as he does Anna Kendrick :-P

The funny thing is that I'm still seeing much more talk about Aloha than San Andreas, with all the "Hollywood whitewashing" articles.

Finally a movie that's exactly as good as everyone thought it would be: Entourage is currently at 19% (27 reviews).

It's "up" to 31% with almost 100 reviews in so it looks like that is around where it will settle

Spy is almost at 80 reviews and is at 94% - so it won't catch Mad Maxx but it looks like a lock to be Top 5 on the RT list

Rippa is in the Top 5?  Holy shit.

I was panicked because I thought I put Entourage too high but I have it 13th (with Aloha 15th) on my box office

That should help.

I just need Straight Outta Compton to be better than Aloha but not better than Entourage

You know that will probably be a hope in vain, right?  Most advances expect either Ant-Man or SoC to be the sleeper hit of the summer depending on how positive opening weekend reviews are.
