2015 Summer Blockbuster Movie Pool

S.K.o.S.

Recommended Posts

Today's update will be late, somewhere around 11 pm to midnight eastern.

Of course, none of us thought Hot Pursuit would make more money or be better reviewed than Avengers 2, so we'll all still be tied at 0 points.

On just Friday Pitch Perfect 2 did $27.8 million while Mad Max did $16.7 million

See I told you PP2 should have been in the pool :-)

I know how you feel I was co-driving that bandwagon.

Also when I come in last place can I get a copy of a terrible movie or something maybe some Pitch Perfect 2 swag:-)

I'm going to wait the full 28 days to concede the point. :)

The first PP took two whole weeks to make that much money... but I guess the difference is that this one's in the summer + lots of people discovered the first one after its theatrical run.

Last week, we got what is likely to be the worst reviewed movie of this summer.  This week we get the best.  Heh.  Strange start.

Should have gone with my gut instead of Brad Bird's track record on Tomorrowland. 11 reviews in and it's only at 64% so far on RT.

If that trend continues it'll probably screw a lot of people's polls.

Yeah, I'm pretty much toast this year if that holds up.  I only thought the Tomorrowland trailer was ok, but I like the cast and it definitely looks as if Disney put a decent amount of their money behind it.  I thought it might the surprise RT movie this year, but Mad Max took the crown.

To be fair Tommorrowland is "up" to 72% so that would put it 3rd so far and only 2 points behind Ultron

Of course if you put it #1 on your list...

Since I wrote this - Tomorrowland has jumped up to 76%

Oh the benefits for a small sample size (21 now)

Tomorrowland will inevitably hurt me, but I'm happy that I put Mad Max number one. As long as nothing moves in front of Avengers, I think this will be the first year I've gotten both my number ones correct.

And now it's at 59% with 44 reviews. I have it at #2, so I'm screwed,

I've really shat the bed with this and Mad Max: Fury Road. I blame RIPPA for Tomorrowland as his three posts in a row about it dropped the RT rating ; ).

So it's super early but Spy has 20 reviews in... and is a perfect 100%

I had a feeling that this would turn out to be the Ted of the summer.  I'm just happy to see that the reviews seem to be legit and that Spy will turn out to be a decent comedy.
