Greggulator
My friends saw The Mountain Goats last night. The show started with the "Hard Times" promo by Dusty Rhodes! Can't believe I missed it.
MORELOCK
Yeah, might as well put it here, since you philistines avoid the music subfolder like the plague. Seconded, though.
DMN
The Ballad of Chavo Guerrero was the song that made me notice The Mountain Goats, but I've since found that I enjoy a lot of their stuff. Top quality.

Justin877
I have been meaning to get this ever since Colt Cabana started plugging it on his podcast. Also turns out the lead singer was at the Chikara show in Gibsonville, NC from this past March.

Hagan
One of the best bands in the world. Very solid album, too.
bink_winkleman
I'm never liked these guys at all, but it's hard for me not to like this album.
AlfredoE
first song I heard from The Mountain Goats was "Best Ever Death Metal Band in Denton". Liked that song, but didn't really listen to anything else at that point. Figured they might be wrestling fans since the Denton reference seemed odd. They released the Chavo Guerrero song and I tweeted that the song would surely be different if they met Chavo in the past. I believe the lead singer was a big wrestling fan here in SoCal of the 70s-80s L.A. Olympic Auditorium shows.
Greggulator
The Mountain Goats are great. John Darnielle is one of the great lyricists of his era.He grew up in SoCal and went to a lot of those Olympic Auditorium shows and watched a ton of TV rasslin'. He grew out of it later on in life but always kept a fondness for it. He said it was one of the few things he could share with his step-dad. I love the Chavo song so much. It's the most literate expression of wrestling fandom ever -- we need heroes and villains in our lives, and justice to ultimately prevail. He also said in an interview I read that wrestling fans tend to be great readers, since we understand narratives and characters at a really young age. He's a huge death meal fan on top of a rasslin' nerd. He grew up a metal fan but now really loves the whole escapist aspect.

Lee B. It was sold-out, so I didn't. If so, how was the show? I didn't know this band and thought the idea was a bit precious when I first heard of it, but having bought the album, I am sold. It is all so sincere. I really like it.
Phil Schneider
Yeah I did they were just awesome live, you need to do a deep dive in their catalogue, he has a ton of albums and they are all really great. Next time they come to DC we will organize a caravan
ChrisM
The Legend Of Chavo Guerrero is a fantastic pop song! Listening to the rest of the album, everything else seems a bit darker. But not bad, at all.
Sammo~!
I listened to the songs a few times through before looking at the song titles. so took me until then to realize the song "Luna" was about Luna Vachon's house fire and later OD. Sad song.
John E. Dynamite
Not the first time he's written songs on the subject. There used to be a full Mountain Goats show on youtube where Josh dropped some of his usual A+ stage banter before playing this. He quoted an old Ox promo quite well.
