Lamp, broken circa 1988
So I went back to Rocket League this weekend, and I've decided this is probably the best main menu music I've ever heard, or at least the best since games have switched to CD quality songs instead of on-board sound chips. Them big fuckin' chords are what it's all about. and for good measure, here's an old sound chip intro music track I enjoy a great deal
Lamp, broken circa 1988
ok fine i'll post in the dead body twice in a row a friend of mine pushed this my way and it's been blowing my mind for a week straight now
Cliff Hanger
Another C64 classic: And the high score theme: As a little kid with sappy tastes I adored the HS theme, but I think the title music holds up better.
J.T.
Art imitates life. I cannot say I trust the Russians more now than I did during the Cold War.
Cliff Hanger
This track probably explains at least in part why I would latch hard onto power metal like fifteen years later when I heard it.
Death From Above
I'll take "Things you will hear if you ever watch a MUGEN stream at 1 in the morning", Alex. This is so goddamn goofy. I love it.
Death From Above
I am indifferent to Street Fighter V on the whole, but it did perform the miracle of actually writing a version of Chun Li's theme I actually like. Sounds like something straight out of an 80's action film.

Cliff Hanger
In honor of the just-passed 20th Anniversary of Soul Edge's PS1 release as Soul Blade, I give you some of my all-time favorite game compositions. Rock's theme (PS1 version) And its original: Taki's theme Cervantes! And of course, the staff roll theme that hit me in the gut in my weebiest era:
Cliff Hanger
Tabe getting me back into wacky Euro-rock/hair metal, combined with Under Night In Birth being a PS+ game this past month has gotten me playing Arc System fighters, so here's my favorite piece from anything they've done. J.T.
What is it about DOOM soundtracks that makes people who aren't terribly into metal suddenly start banging their heads?
Cliff Hanger
New Smash Bros means exciting new remixes! First up, Vega (bullfighter): Next, Richter's theme/stage 1 from Rondo Lastly, a song that's already shown up here in its original form:
Death From Above
I've been watching a dude named puwexil (you've probably seen him if you are into things like AGDQ and whatnot) run the Final Fantasy IV randomizer a lot recently so I basically have this glorious nonsense stuck in my head all the time now.
JLSigman
If you have Spotify, Capcom just dumped what seems to be dozens of soundtracks and compilations going back a couple decades there. I'm still scrolling through it all, but there's a ton of Street Fighter, MegaMan, Phoenix Wright, and even Okami.

Cycling through it there's definitely quite a lot to go through.

Jiji
Damn it. They must not have cleared it in Canada yet. Hopefully it's just a matter of time and not another whole ball of wax for them. I would love it if they could beef up their video game and soundtrack game as a whole.

I know that SquareEnix has dumped a bunch of stuff in the last couple months as well. There's still some artists I'm still waiting for, especially from non-Uematsu adjacent series, but the fact that they recently added the Ghost in the Shell anime soundtracks is a good sign that maybe they'll open everything up to everyone.
