If you thought the Toews hyperbole was bad before (and I did!), it's going to be absolutely sickening after this one.

Edit: saying that, I do take joy seeing Toews and co. once again eliminate Kesler from the playoffs. Although, a 2 goal lead is not safe with Corey Crawford.

I've kinda moved on from trying to "market correct" the Toews hyperbole to just appreciating what he (and Kane) have been able to do. They're just fucking good in the playoffs and putting together remarkable careers.

Plus even Luongo said that when all the best Canadian players in the world were in one room at the Olympics, Toews was the leader.

Yep, he's Mr. Intangibles in that he seems to have an extra level of focus and determination that most don't have. But he's also had incredibly long playoff goal scoring slumps which often go unnoticed due to the fact he's on the deepest team in the league and has been for most of his career. Next season with his and Kane's contracts kicking in, we'll see just how great he is without the incredible depth. Same thing happened with Pittsburgh after the Malkin/Crosby contracts kicked in.

I don't see Tampa matching up with Chicago in terms of scoring depth but maybe I'm missing out seeming as I mostly tuned out after the first round. Stamkos has had the quietest 17 points in 20 games that I can remember. Chicago can lock down the triplets and Stamkos' lines and then they're relying on Val Filppula to score.

Agreed. Pittsburgh was never able to collect the depth that Chicago had, particularly on D with the high quality two-way play of Keith/Seabrook. They had specialists but not the two way types.

Keith's talent may be less than some of the other perceived big name D's but his ability to eat up minutes in the playoffs is clearly a real thing. This team is the favorites for the Cup with a third pairing that they legit cannot play.

This is just a friendly reminder that Craig MacTavish moved Jeff Petry at the deadline for the same price the Hawks paid for the walking corpse of Kimo Timonnen.

Craig MacTavish is not a GM now.
