Also this:  I know these are white chicks from Queens.  But this song is fucking awesome.  All songs should end with a spoken monolog:

I feel like somehow it should be playing in a David Lynch movie I haven't seen yet.

Similar rough sounding mixes:

Yeah.  I have a type.

The Ovations-

Is the short guy the lead singer?  Damn he's good.

Yeah he sounds like Sam Cooke a bit. There is a lot of good stuff from that label out there that never really hit it big. Goldwax Records. A bunch of compilations from that company on spotify that you can check out for free.

I've been on a Throwback Soul kick as of late, which a couple of sweet NY record labels like Daptone & Truth & Soul have been putting out.

Lee Fields has been recording for 40 years, having to push through constant comparison to James Brown (People STILL call him Lil' JB). His last album was my favorite of 2012.

Sharon Jones was gonna be releasing a new album this month, but had to do treatments for bile duct cancer (S1, so they caught it early), so it's been delayed until January.

Charles Bradley making Nirvana funky.
