Blue Jays reliever Anthony Bass shared a video on Instagram at the end of May in support of the anti-LGBTQ boycotts of Bud Light and Target which described the brands as "evil" and demonic." This led to an inauthentic apology with talk of more to come. He and GM Ross Atkins took questions from the media today, and it's clear he most regrets sharing his beliefs publicly rather than holding those beliefs at all.

All this leading to: Bass catching the first pitch tomorrow night to kick off the Blue Jays Pride Weekend. Not sure the organization could have gotten this more wrong.

Update: After all this, they just DFA'd him like everyone wanted to begin with.

The moral of the story is, if you are on a sports team and already kinda on the bubble on staying on the roster, don't say stupid shit. (I mean, no one should stay stupid shit, but if you are barely on the roster anyway its extra important)

Yankees RP Jimmy Cordero has been suspended for the rest of the season (and the post season if it applies) for violating MLB's Domestic Violence policy

He is being placed on the restricted list and will not be paid (nor will he count against the 40 man)

This bit of the Yanks constantly having pitchers who can't keep their fucking hands to themselves is infuriating

To expand on what Dolfan teased in the other thread - the Rays Wander Franco didn't travel with the team to San Fran after Sunday's game as the league investigates social media posts involving him

Him not traveling with the team implies he might have been placed on the restricted list

The posts - which have not been verified at all (and have since been deleted from Twitter) - indicate that Franco allegedly had inappropriate relations with a minor

Small update: in the DR, Franco is officially being investigated by The National Agency for Boys, Girls, Adolescents and Family and Gender Violence Unit, which, as you can probably surmise from the name, specifically handles child abuse and gender violence and at the very least implies the prosecutor is taking the allegations very seriously.

But, what about my PSA 10 Die-cut, Refractor, Shadowless, Autographed (on card), Hologram RC?

Put it in your bicycle spokes?  That has to make a badass sound.

Dominican reporter Hector Gomez says a source close to the investigation says it's "unlikely that Franco ever plays in MLB again."

😬

I wonder if the Rays try to re-acquire Willy Adames from Milwaukee in the off-season.

And now MLB has places Franco on the restricted list while they continue their investigation. As of right now, that's a "non-disciplinary" step and he's still getting paid and accruing service time, though I'm not sure the latter is likely to matter much.

After getting tossed the other night for the use of a banned sticky substance - Padres RP Robert Suarez has been suspended the standard 10 games

Suarez is appealing saying it was just sunscreen

David Ortiz is back in the news as he's reporting he's being extorted by hackers.  Apparently they've gotten into his phone or his phone's cloud account and are extorting him based on what they've found.

He's reported it to Dominican authorities.

Thing that makes me a bit sus on this is he's saying it's a phone from "15 years ago" and hasn't used since.  Like....  what are you doing with a 15 year old phone and who the hell even has the correct charger to power a phone from 2008 🤔
