Weren't they trying to recruit George W. to do it at one point? Don't know if it would actually improve things. I mean, it wouldn't be the first time he'd be put in charge of something despite being woefully unqualified. Bart Giamatti was decent in his short time as Commish, Fay Vincent wasn't as ghastly as Selig and Ueberroth so that makes him decent in my book. I think it had a lot more to do with personnel and player development than anything else. Springer and Correa still strike out a lot, at least from the eye test. The other guys, not so much. I can't remember the name of that huge black guy in 2016. Hit a ton of homers, also struck out a ton more. It's probably super easy to be "super patient" when you know what's being thrown at you lol

hammerva
You know the shit is bad when Mike Trout speaks out against you. I feel you can count on one hand the number of times he has talked about anything in the last 2 or 3 years

On Monday, sportsbook William Hill set the over/under on number of Astros batters to get plunked this season at 83.5. In the past five seasons, only nine teams have been hit by pitches more than 83.5 times, but, with the anger over the sign-stealing scandal involving Houston, there is plenty of reason to believe the Astros will be targeted frequently.

RIPPA
The Giants have barred Aubrey Huff from attending the celebration of the 2010 team that they are holding later this year. The organization specifically cited the inflammatory comments he has had been making as the reason. Huff, of course, is shocked by this
Ryan
Aubrey seems to think THE IMPLICATION is a real thing he can use on twitter when discussing things and pretend he was just joking without anyone getting mad at him. Note, he is not a character on a TV show who is supposed to be a creepy fuck like Dennis on IASIP.
Greggulator
I saw on Twitter or somewhere a hilarious idea for an Astros punishment. They have a RING SURRENDER ceremony. They have a Astros/Dodgers game at Dodgers Stadium. The Dodgers all lineup. Then they have all the members of the 2017 Astros (except for Fiers) one-by-one, have to come out of their dugout and surrender their World Series ring onto a podium placed on the mound. Then Jim Crane has to walk out with the WS Trophy and hand it to whoever owns the Dodgers personally. All in front of a sold out crowd. I would seriously hand over my son's college savings plan to watch this in person. 2
grilledcheese
While I think that is truly hilarious, can we amend it a little and have them dumping the rings and trophy into a big smelter? Like imagine the end of Terminator 2. That's the vibe I would like to see. 3

hammerva
Shit I would take $200 in the under on that. Now if the bet was the total number of days players are suspended I would take the 80 over easy. There are going to be at least 2 or 3 players given a lesson with the 20 - 40 game suspension range

But...they also had guys drop a huge number, which is highly, highly unusual. George Springer went from 178 to 111. If we adjust to 162 games instead of the 140 he played in 2017, he would have 128. That's a 28% drop.

grilledcheese
Well, that likely means one of two things. Manfred got rolled on by the PA and didn't doublecheck to figure out if what he was told was accurate as it pertained to the League's investigative powers, or he's full of shit and just tried to come up with something that he thought sounded feasible. My money is on option number two. I could also see a situation in which the players were simply offered immunity because the League thought it would be the best way to conduct the investigation, but now seeing how pissed a lot of people are, they can't come out and say they did that so this excuse gets floated.
hammerva
At least we will always have the phrase "listen here baseball commissioner" from Lebron James.
