WWE® NETWORK PARTNERS WITH SETH GREEN, JERRY SPRINGER

AND JEFF TREMAINE ON THREE NEW ORIGINAL SERIES

STAMFORD, Conn., March 30, 2015 – In addition to the premium monthly live pay-per-view events, WWE Network unveiled new programming for the remainder of 2015, which includes eight brand new original series and partnerships with director Jeff Tremaine, Seth Green’s Stoopid Buddy Stoodios and legendary talk show host Jerry Springer.

NEW ORIGINAL SERIES:

CAMP WWE – COMING LATE 2015

WWE, in partnership with Seth Green’s Stoopid Buddy Stoodios, will debut a new, animated short-form comedy series entitled Camp WWE. Imagine WWE Superstars and Divas when they were kids at their favorite summer camp…which happens to be run by none other than Mr. McMahon – add in shock-value, slapstick humor and social satire – and you have WWE’s first adult comedy, which will debut later this year.

"We're insanely excited about this collaboration,” said Green.  “WWE is one of the most heartfelt and professional organizations I've worked with.  We're beyond happy to help them realize this vision.”

SWERVED – COMING IN MAY

WWE teams up with the Director of Jackass and Bad Grandpa, Jeff Tremaine, to give you the hilarious original series, Swerved. Swerved is a half hour series and will premiere in May.

“I’m excited to combine my brand of entertainment with the world of WWE,” said Tremaine.  “It will be the ultimate mash-up.”

DIVA SEARCH – COMING THIS FALL

WWE spans the globe in search of the most beautiful, athletic and charismatic women to find the next stunning WWE Diva.  This competition will give viewers the opportunity to witness the challenges, trials, drama and rewards that accompany the journey of these women, as they vie for superstardom. Coming this Fall.

JERRY SPRINGER PRESENTS WWE TOO HOT FOR TV – COMING IN APRIL

Hosted by legendary talk show host Jerry Springer, this series will re-introduce the WWE Universe to the most outrageous stunts and cringe-inducing moments in TV history.  The series will be chock full of insane situations and racy romps from WWE’s past that will have members of the WWE Universe asking, “Did they really do this?!”  Springer will inject his own brand of humor into each episode with themes such as “Love Hurts,” “All in the Family” and “Weddings and Funerals.”

The half-hour series will be available beginning in April in WWE Network’s video-on-demand library with new episodes weekly.

"I suspect 25 years of The Jerry Springer Show qualifies me to comment on outrageous behavior,” said Springer.  “And what is more outrageous than the entertainment, drama and craziness of the WWE. This is going to be fun."

LIVE! WITH CHRIS JERICHO – DEBUTS MONDAY, APRIL 6 WITH SPECIAL GUEST JOHN CENA

Podcast host Chris Jericho challenges his guests in provocative, candid conversations about their careers, their lives, past controversies and the overall state of WWE.  The monthly series kicks off Monday, April 6 immediately following Raw, with its first one-hour episode featuring WWE Superstar John Cena.

“I’m stoked to bring my show to WWE Network and give Jerichoholics worldwide more of what they've come to expect - humor, questions that have never been asked before and the best conversations that any podcast host has ever delivered,” said Jericho.  “No matter who the guest is, whether it be WWE Superstars, Divas, Legends, executives or icons from the entertainment world, I guarantee to deliver the best, most entertaining interview you have ever heard from each and every one of them."

UNFILTERED: WITH RENEE YOUNG – DEBUTS IN MAY

WWE announcer Renee Young interviews WWE Superstars and other pop-culture celebrities, covering just about everything, except what they are famous for.  In this short-form series, Renee's guests include Grammy Award winner Wiz Khalifa, five-time Grammy nominee Skylar Grey and WWE Superstars Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins. Unfiltered will debut in May.

CULTURE SHOCK: WITH COREY GRAVES – PREMIERING IN JUNE

WWE commentator Corey Graves reveals a variety of unique venues, customs, music, food and people as WWE’s tour travels around the world.  From Marvel comic headquarters to a tattoo shop on the lower east side of Manhattan, Graves examines the local culture with his unique perspective and style.  This short-form series will premiere in June.

WWE THE LIST – COMING IN JUNE

WWE The List is the best, the worst, the most bizarre and interesting of everything and anything WWE.  If it’s amazing, outrageous, sexy or just plain fun, it just made #TheList.

NEW EPISODES:

In addition to the eight new original series, WWE Network will also debut new episodes of the highly-acclaimed docu-series WWE 24 as well as WWE Countdown and Rivalries. WWE will also add more children’s programming by bringing back the popular 1980s animated series, Hulk Hogan’s Rock ‘N’ Wrestling. In addition, WWE Network will produce compelling specials and short form content, while continuing to add 1,000 hours to its robust video-on-demand library, which currently has more than 3,000 hours of content.

WWE 24

The acclaimed 30-minute docu-series takes you on a lightning-fast journey through a day in the life of WWE’s most intriguing Superstars and groundbreaking events.

WWE COUNTDOWN

WWE Countdown settles the great debates across WWE history.  Who was the most dangerous Diva?  Who had the best catchphrase?  This one-hour series allows the WWE Universe to determine the top 10 in each category and have the final word on who tops each list.

RIVALRIES

This docu-style series takes a look at the greatest rivalries in WWE history, as never told before.  Get the real stories behind WWE’s most exciting matches and entertaining feuds through the eyes of the Superstars who created them.  Each one-hour episode leaves no story untold.

HULK HOGAN’S ROCK ’N’ WRESTLING

Harkening back to 1985, this Saturday morning cartoon, which originally aired on CBS, features Hulk Hogan, Andre the Giant, Junkyard Dog, Captain Lou Albano, and Roddy Piper in a series that is both nostalgic and entertaining, 30 years later.

SPECIALS:

FLOYD MAYWEATHER VS. THE BIG SHOW: THE BIGGEST VS. THE BEST – PREMIERES MONDAY, APRIL 27

WWE Network will look back at this epic David vs. Goliath encounter at WrestleMania 24 (2008) and its shocking conclusion coming just in time for Mayweather vs. Pacquiao, which is expected to be one of the biggest boxing matches in history.

NXT TAKEOVER – LIVE! – AIRS MONTHLY ON WEDNESDAYS

The future is here. WWE’s hottest up-and-coming Superstars compete to prove they’ve got what it takes.  More than just evolution, it’s a revolution! Witness these WWE Superstars of tomorrow as they take over WWE Network with live two-hour specials.

Not sure about the Camp WWE (sounds like a Brickleberry knockoff) or whatever the hell that Swerved one will be like.  And I really couldn't care less for Springer taking part.  But HOLY FUCK HULK HOGAN'S ROCK AND WRESTLING SHOW!  Amazing!

Is it safe to complain here about some of these shitty new shows?  Over at the WWE Network subReddit, it's not.  Most of these new shows look like lame crap.  I guess I'm ok with a new Divas Search but some of those other new shows, like the Spring show or the Graves show, etc., don't appeal to me at all.

Honestly, I haven't even been watching the Network much these days, and I'm thinking of cancelling and coming back in the summer.  These new shows don't help me much in deciding not to cancel.  I do like the idea of 1000 more hours of VOD stuff though.  I think I was picturing this whole service being a little different than it actually has become.

I was going to post this question in the Technical Issues thread but it seems to be locked. I was going to watch some VOD tonight and it's giving me a "Blackout in effect" message on both my laptop and my iPhone. I'm in Canada and just got the network a few weeks ago and this is my first issue with this. I did a quick search on Twitter and it seems like this isn't a Canada problem since there is quite a few people with the same issue tonight. Does anybody know what's going on?

The Takeover part is a mistake. It's still quarterly.

I sure hope that it is.

As long as they update RAW and Nitro through '98, I'll be happy.

Thoughts on SummerSlam 92

The WWF really broke from the face-heel dynamic with Bret-Davey Boy and Savage-Warrior, as well as a rare heel vs. heel match between HBK and Rick Martel. This was another great comedy match by Martel of all people (after his blindfold match with Roberts). Sherri also did a great job with her frequent fainting spells.

The cool factor of the Road Warriors and Paul Ellering riding to the ring on motorcycles was immediately squelched by the presence of Rocco the mannequin on Ellering's handlebars.

Crush looked very good in his win over Repo Man. He could have made more progress if he wasn't later made out to be a dunce by Doink the Clown for six months in a row.

Diana Hart Smith delivered a completely wooden promo about the battle between her husband, Davey and her brother, Bret. At least she managed to show some emotion during the match.

Savage and Warrior were hard-pressed to recreate the magic of their WM 7 match. I wasn't a fan of the emphasis on "Whose corner will Mr. Perfect be in?" He was obviously still aligned with Flair, and had just participated in beating both up guys in their match against the Nasty Boys.

Bret Hart gets the MVP award for his performance in the main event. I know it was self-serving in his book to say how much he carried Davey in the match, but it was probably true.

they should put out press releases announcing "seasons" or "years" or whatever, of classic wrestling shows. THAT is what people signed up for the Network for, not some wrestling bubble reality shows. that kind of stuff is fine to add variety and pad out content, but WRESTLING is the most important part.

that being said, Hulk Hogan's Rock & Wrestling is an awesome addition as is Tuesday Night Titans.

Thoughts on Survivor Series 92

This was the first Survivor Series that was not filled with elimination matches, but they were back at the Richfield Coliseum for the third time in six years, so I was there! No complaints here.

Nailz had a great idea to go after the nightstick before Bossman arrived for their match. He's a criminal mastermind! Bossman had to cut  his promo short to put a stop to that.

Tatanka beat Rick Martel on PPV again, although the match went a lot longer than it did at WM 8. Doink showed up, and my friend in the front row held up a sign that read, "Don't Trust The Clown." He was right, because Doink popped the balloons that he made for the kids at ringside after the pinfall. My pal also made up a replica of the old NWA title belt to hold up when Ric Flair came out.

Yokozuna had a meteoric rise to the top of the WWF. He won his PPV debut here over Virgil, then won the Rumble and captured the WWF title at WrestleMania. You can't do much better than that.

I had forgotten that the Nasty Boys had a run as babyfaces, joining Greg Valentine and the Natural Disasters as guys whom the fans were supposed to cheer simply because they broke away from Jimmy Hart. To the Nasties' credit, they got the crowd behind them.

The rules of the casket match were still being worked out, as Undertaker pinned Kamala and then rolled him into the casket before NAILING it shut. That's called winning the feud decisively.

Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels share the MVP award. It wasn't their greatest match, and we at the Richfield Coliseum had already seen them battle each other twice earlier in the year over the Intercontinental title. Still, they held their own in the main event of the first WWF pay-per-view without Hogan or Warrior (correct me if I'm wrong). They educated the fans that smaller guys with great wrestling skill belonged in the main event.

will be interesting to see where they begin.

january 1997?

night after Survivor Series '97?

night after WrestleMania 14?

Hopefully they include the RAW that had that wild Bret/Sid cage match with everyone running in and Bret's profanity laden tirade.

Thoughts on Royal Rumble 1993

Steiner Brothers-Beverly Brothers was a superb power tag team match. It was also a nice contrast to the Orient Express tag matches that opened the previous two Royal Rumble shows.

The brawl after the Michaels-Jannetty match (featuring the mysterious FLYING ORANGE~!) should have led to a big blowoff match at WrestleMania. Too bad Marty got fired the next day.

Bam Bam Bigelow looked great in his win over the Big Bossman, who was wrapping up his long WWF run.

Razor Ramon looked like a strong WWF title contender against Bret Hart, but he spent the rest of his WWF career at the IC title level. He would have made a very credible WWF champion.

The first part of the Rumble was a great flashback to the 80s, with Ric Flair battling Jerry Lawler, Bob Backlund and Genichiro Tenryu. Backlund broke Flair's longevity record, but he seemed to do nothing for the entire match. Giant Gonzalez destroying The Undertaker in his debut was also the peak of his WWF career. It was all downhill after that.

Yokozuna was the MVP (and the winner) of the Rumble. His belly-to-belly elimination of Earthquake was very impressive. Plus, he fought off six guys who were trying to dump him. Powering Randy Savage over the top was the exclamation point. Yoko proved in this match that he wasn't just a fat guy. He could really go.

His elimination of Savage was pretty dumb though. Why would Macho go for a cover? Savage had been in the sport for about 15 years at that point. You'd think he'd know how to win a battle royal. It would've been better for Yoko to just gorilla press him out or something like that.

Mental exhaustion on Savage's part

They finished off '97 and dumped all of the '98 Raws in one big batch. Apparently, some of these eps have extra, off air footage. That's pretty cool. Shows a little piece of what they *could* do with the archive stuff if they wanted...

i hate to be cynical, but maybe putting these episodes up will finally kill the unwarranted attitude era nostalgia. I'm 27. I loved Austin, Mankind, Rock, DX, Taker, The Corporation etc. just as much as anything else, but I also remember Mae Young's hand, Beaver Cleavage, Brawl for All, Jeff Jarrett: woman abuser, and every other shit thing about that time. Maybe this makes me a bad person, but just give me the 97 Nitros and a bunch of b-shows and territory stuff, and I'll be a happy camper

What would he do, just pick him up? I took it as he was drained and desperate, not thinking straight.
