I'm told this DestAm-ROH deal was in works long before any falling out between DestAm and TNA. This was not a rushed deal, in other words.

I'm not a member of the WO forums, but someone said Alvarez mentioned that TNA officials were informed of the ROH signing this morning, just before it was officially announced, true or no?

He just said this on the radio show.  He said the timing was a coincidence and that today was always the planned day they would announce the ROH deal.  ROH was close to a deal with Spike for special events, but this fell through.

If so, Bix was right, who the fuck negotiated the deal for TNA with DA, and *not* make it exclusive?

To be fair, it's not like TNA had any leverage. It appeared to be DA or no TV, and with no TV, TNA is worthless.

Well, even more worthless than it already is.

It was a mild success to begin with that they were paid in something more valuable than bobbleheads.

This is essentially being sold as Destination America simply syndicating the Sinclair ROH show - it airs first on Sinclair, then the following Wednesday on DA. So in reality, it's no different than them syndicating any other show to air - this one just happens to be pro wrestling.

It's being bought as the funniest thing since Ultimo Dragon's Wrestlemania entrance..

Yeah, I actually don't see this as a big deal.  Picking up a syndicated hour of a show that aired in a lot of markets several days earlier is probably a small investment.  You might still have the same problems attracting advertisers, but your breakeven point is a lot lower.

If they go on to replace TNA with a ROH show that only airs on DA, it will be interesting to hear about the economics of both shows.

Curious to hear if DA refused to give TNA an exclusivity clause in the contract, or if TNA never asked.  If TNA didn't try to write some sort of clause in the deal preventing this, lol.

Really, with this promotion's history, I can see Dixie being pleaded with by her advisers to add an exclusivity clause, only for her to remark "Who's going to stop us? ROH?" and then erupt into maniacal laughter while signing the contract in Josh Matthews' blood.

Reminder - via Bix

-- For however much you may want to fault TNA for not having exclusivity, remember that United Talent Agency negotiated the deal for them.
