Savage turned 42 in 1994. So instead of a statutory rapist, maybe he was just a creepy older guy who took took advantage of a situation and slept with a barely legal teenager nearly 25 years younger than him. Um... much better? Savage is probably top 5 for me as a wrestler, but, if the Stephanie rumors are basically true, there's no way it wasn't a sleazy situation even if no laws were broken. With that said, it really is strange how we have no problem with 18-year olds going to war. Then they come home and can't buy a drink. I think I watched Jericho vs Benoit from Royal Rumble 2001 back in like 2001 but I was pretty buzzed when I watched it so I cant remember if I felt weird or not. Because you know more than a few wrestlers were regularly taking girls back to their room that they met at the hotel bar. Bret Hart said in his book that he always tried to get the hottest girl in the bar back to his room on a nightly basis. By the same token, maybe I was a little more ok with those because he wasn't 50-75 pounds overweight dropping headbutts off of ladders.
