That Tajiri/Kidman match is goooood stuff. Tajiri sticking with the back and anytime Kidman comes back he just kicks him in the face. I think Tajiri is one of the greatest wrestlers ever. I wonder what the best Kidman match is, anyone got a suggestions?

Watched a Zero-1 show from the begginning of the year: http://jaedmc.blogspot.com/2013/09/zero-1-01012013.html

I feel like they could be really good, but some of the roster feel like lesser versions of good to great wrestlers. Their main guys are good, but there's not a lot else. The gaijin are a little weak too. Really like Yoshikazu Yokohama and Yusaku Obata. If you get a chance watch the opener because it has a good sequence for the finish that feels organic and psychologically sound.

Of course the first words I hear in that Juvi/Kidman match are "JUDY BAGWELL". Pretty fun match. I like the Tajiri one better as far as Kidman singles go. Juvi looked like he was lost in the middle, which makes sense in retrospect. What I really liked how they sold the Juvi Driver kick out more as a mistake on Juvi's pin technique than Kidman's resilience. Not that they undersold Kidman, really, just that Juvi could have had it but fucked it up. Something I thought was weird is both guys would fit in heel tactics. Like Juvi pulling Kidman's hair to get in a headlock or Kidman inexplicably hitting Juvi in the sack on the top rope.

I also watched thattag match Matt posted. I thought the mugging of Garea was great. The stuff after the hot tag was okay, though I always question when a guy who gets the shit kicked out of him tags out and tags back in so fast. The finish however made up for it. Gotta wonder why young Rick MArtel was going to the opposite corner for that cross body. Lesson learned. It kind of reminded me of this match, in which you have a younger blue chipper athlete defending a tag title and being too young to know they were making a mistake.

A bunch of fun stuff here, but my favorite is at the end: a 10-man best-of-5-falls match with Andre, Snuka, Morales, Rocky Johnson, & Sal Bellomo (why?) vs. Muraco, Fuji, Buddy Rose, Kung Fu Billy Graham, & Ray Stevens.  (Fuji does a really nice belly-to-belly in the first fall.)

Also, Blitzkrieg, why did this guy retire so soon, anybody know?

From what people who knew him have told me, injuries and the glass ceiling.  He had a couple major injuries in a fairly short period of time.  Also, he wasn't really happy in WCW and didn't see himself getting into a bigger "pond".  My impression was he didn't love the business enough to keep trying the indys/japan/mexico route (which is fine for some, if you don't mind the travel).  Became an it guy after he retired, irrc.

(I don't know him, but I know some people who knew/worked with him in California before WCW.  Years ago, I was around a lot of the Rev Pro crew.)

Yeah, his Wiki page kinda blew my mind to hear that he was a Cali guy under the mask and that him and Super Dragon got a WCW tryout.

My initial thought as well was that he didn't really have passion since he left WCW seemingly not long after he got there and I hadn't heard his name since but I guess injuries would be a good reason as well. Super talented dude though.

Going under the supposition "you never know when you're gonna want to watch something" I bought the Heroes of Mid-South set today. So I've got that, the lucha set, a Schneider comp, and the unfinished War Games collection sitting in the house. I need therapy.

Decided I'd at least watch the interview sections and they were typically fine. Terry Taylor's story about Flair showing up too hungover to work and then bringing it to the point he blew Terry up was really funny, and the second time on the set Flair was referred to as a "man from Mars" or something similar (the other was Cornette). They have Dr. Death and Buddy Roberts on here talking through their voiceboxes. Video quality on here is stellar. I did end up watching three things, the DiBiase face turn again, Dr. Death/Terry Gordy and OMG/Bossman. Doc and Gordy I'd never seen oppose each other and of course gelled perfectly. OMG/Bossman had the crowd thinking it was the war of the gargantuans, and it was. The rest of the matches here I'll save for a rainy day but none of them look disappointing.

Hahaha, who are they wrestling. At the 1:30 mark, that might be the worst handspring elbow I have ever seen.

And reading the comments I saw this:

"Some notes from 9.12 in Roanoke for the Thunder tapings. Hayabusa was there but was only going to be put on World Wide against The Frog." - The Wrestling Observer Newsletter: September 11, 2000.

Anyone know anything about this?

Match of the night for me. 1996 Starrcade. Ultimo Dragon vs. Deano Malenko -

Significance of this match. Ultimo was the J-Crown Champion ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J-Crown ) at the time and Dean was the cruiserweight champ. So this was the Unification match of essentially all of the jr. heavyweight belts in the world. This night was special to me because my favorite wrestler of all time, Jushin Liger, wrestled Ron Mysterio Jr in a dream matchup.

But this Ultimo vs. Malenko match is one of the best cruiserweight matches in WCW history. Dusty Rhodes on the mic alone makes this match worth watching. It is probably in my Top 5 from that era. Just watch how my man Ultimo walks to the ring. SO much confidence at this time. That dude was on top of the world at that time.

Hope some of you can enjoy this. Just watch it later. Put it in your que.

When smarkschoice ran the Greatest WCW Matches of All Time poll, this match closed out my top five and I had the Clash of the Champions XXXIV placing #25. The only WCW Cruiserweight match I'd rate above the Starrcade 1996 match is Eddie Guerrero vs. Rey Mysterio at Halloween Havoc 1997.

Did you, perchance, see the Ultimo/Rey match I talked about here: http://jaedmc.blogspot.com/2013/08/dmc-mixtape-vol-2.html . I think it's better than that, though I love Ultimo being a bad guy in the match you posted. Also that tope to the outside was nasty when you look at how Rey fell down. Good stuff.

Watching a lot of Harry Smith matches from this year. Ran into this:

Pretty funny stuff. Scott Steiner kicks Harry in the nuts. Beats him up with a chair. Get's disqualified. Rolls in the ring like he's breaking a 10 count when the match is over. Threatens the ref. Another ref is sent out and the match continues like nothing happened.
