RIPPA Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Since there will be no WOTD next week - this week is our "Chris"tmas special http://youtu.be/c1MRB9GT6tM
J.T. Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Why does Danlel's Last Rites rolling cutter look more hurty than anyone else's version? And why doesn't he use tt anymore?
J.T. Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 I saw this match live. It was fucking awesome. We must add Reckless Youth to the Brainbuster debate, even though Koko's is still #1 and the Best. 1
J.T. Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 I did not get to see this match live because I had to work that weekend. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AV7lhySc9WU I was bummed. Austin Aries also has a sweet Brainbuster.
cool arrow Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 I saw Daniels wrestle in California in 1997 and he was great even then, carrying juiced-up orange stiff Mick Tierney to a watchable match. Man, I wish that stuff was on Youtube,
Matt D Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Daniels is the definition of a wrestler I not only liked a lot but also identified myself with when I was 20 and really, really didn't want to watch when I was 30.
Ace Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Daniels working around a heavily concussed Kurt Angle. 3
J.T. Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Daniels is the definition of a wrestler I not only liked a lot but also identified myself with when I was 20 and really, really didn't want to watch when I was 30. What Matt said. Daniels was indietastic in a good way and I loved his PWG and ECWA work. His run in the pros has been pretty painful to watch, but he does manage to drag the good out of AJ Styles.
RIPPA Posted December 15, 2014 Author Posted December 15, 2014 I loved him early Indy work. Early TNA... not so much He was one of the few decent things about TNA the last few years though (Appletini of DOOM~! not withstanding)
Matt D Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 I think once you see the "extremely smooth but pretending to wrestle" magic eye, it's hard to unsee it, even if it's probably not as true over the last few years as it was in the decade previous. I get that saying "he's pretending to wrestle" is one of the most pretentious things someone can say, but it means something very specific (elaborately set up spots, your stuff-my stuff, indy pin exchanges, stuff that looks more graceful than hurty, overly complex but quite cool spots, self-aware epics that try to be five stars instead of trying to be realistic and hatefilled or competitive or what not) and it's probably the easiest way to get that idea across. If anyone does take umbrage, I can go into detail, but I think JT, for one, knows what I'm talking about, and I imagine a lot of others do too. I like Daniels as a personality and as someone who obviously loves wrestling, and maybe he has broken from the label over the last couple of years but the ship sort of sailed for me. I think there's a place for him and I'm glad when people who are young discover him and get into him. He's a great wrestler for 20 year olds to enjoy.
RIPPA Posted December 15, 2014 Author Posted December 15, 2014 HEY! I just remembered that I uploaded a Daniels video

cool arrow Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 Daniels has been announced as ADR's first ROH opponent,
caley Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 I remember back when Daniels was a MASSIVE indie darling and I was all excited that he was coming to my neck of the woods that me and a friend planned an entire week-long vacation to Vancouver around seeing Daniels wrestle in ECCW, bought tickets, booked hotels, etc. etc. then I turn on Nitro about two days before we're to leave and see Daniels wrestling Michael Modest (Remember him?!) on Nitro and Daniels' almost breaking his neck on the ropes and looking at my friend and going "Well, there's no way we're seeing Christopher Daniels this weekend..." But then he actually showed up on Friday and wrestled, albeit slightly gingerly. I always thought that was some cruel twist of fate when he and Modest were brought in on a random Nitro and blew the crowds away and were told by WCW that they would be signing them both to deals but that they had to keep them off TV for a couple months to sell their injuries at the hand of Scott Steiner, but that they would be bringing them back. Then WCW went under and neither had a deal, so Vince didn't even have to offer them one and they both ended up jobless.
