As much as HHH would love him to get the shit beaten out of him, a succesful career at UFC level for Brooks can only be good for WWE - same for Batista's movie career.

My initial thought was:

Ah CM Punk, you've got spirit.......I look forward to burying you in the traditional Highland way.

Welterweight: Phil "CM Punk" Brooks def. Georges St-Pierre, KO (flying elbowdrop), 2:15, rd. 5.

A flying elbowdrop would be an automatique DQ: (a) it's a 12 to 6 elbow and (b) how do you get up on the octagon cage without grabbing the fence?

So I guess the Pepsi Plunge is definitely out?

Punk should play to his strengths.  His fighting style should be "cutting a promo".

They can always find someone for him to beat up. Batista beat up some dudes. Lashley beats up dudes. They'll find someone.

Yeah not even remotely similar. Batista beat up one dude and it was a fat guy with 25 losses. It's a lot easier to get that tomato can shit done at heavyweight where you can just set up a fight where one guy can just overpower another.

This stunt is not going to go well for him. Even if they try to find a tomato can it's going to be someone his same size and who most likely will not be making their mma debut and they'll most likely have a winning record.

I applaud Punk for having the stones to try it, but he'll get murked by any halfway decent UFC guy. Who are the Mulkey Bros of MMA? That's who Punk needs to be fighting until he can show some semblance of a striking or wrestling game.

Maybe Mark Coleman will do another job like he did for Takada in Pride.

I don't follow MMA at all.  Can someone realistically walk in with no experience and put up a credible challenge against a decent opponent?  I realize there are plenty of tough guys around with some sort of fighting background but no organized MMA experience, so maybe it's feasible, but It kinda sounds like one of those "Michael Jordan plays pro baseball" things.  Actually, except for the fact that he's apparently signed with UFC, this sounds more like Michael Elgin announcing he was going to play pro baseball or Kurt Angle talking about taking another run at the Olympics.

I've followed UFC since day one. The overall ability of the fighters has grown exponential since the mid 90's. There's hardly any more specialists who excel at one thing nearly every fighter these days has a well rounded game.

I heard Punk is a pretty decent BJJ guy, but if he can't get anyone on the ground he's screwed. If Punk had an amateur wrestling background to go with the BJJ training I might give him a shot not to get killed.

I also heard Kimbo had a solid overall game when he was going to be On TUF and we all saw Roy Nelson take him down, put him in a crucifix and ground and pound him to an easy TKO finish.

Is it too late for Haku to make a run in UFC?

Sorry for being off topic but I met Haku last night. When I found out I was working with him last month, I was pretty intimidated. But he is ridiculously nice and more like a cool grand dad. Corny jokes and all. That said, he chopped the shit out of someone. Dude had welts and cuts on his chest and neck from Haku's effortless chops. He doesn't need to wind up for power at all. Even in his old age, he can seriously hurt people.

Side note: His gear consists of a Bullet Club t shirt (he's a proud dad) and Sweat pants. Still deadly.

I think it's great that Punk is doing something that he wants to do. I'm not a huge Punk fan but I also don't quite understand super passionate Punk naysayers either. Or hardcore naysayers in general.

So, Punk has to take a punch...

Didn't he bitch about Ryback working too stiff?

If someone punts him in the ribs while he is on all 4 fours they get a warning or DQ'ed.

And if they press slam him through a table and miss the table, there's probably bigger questions than whether it was intentional or not.

Here's the thing: I really think Punk is doing this out of a love for the game. If he goes 0-5 or whatever, I think he's ok with that because he just thinks doing this is fun. And he's got enough money.

It's almost like.....he isn't doing this to compete for and/or win a UFC belt.

I thought I was going to have to bust out the Martin Baker pic again. Actually, I was really hoping I would.

Anyone who doesn't see this as a Herschel Walker ambassador to the sport role is really deluding themselves (Non-MMA and MMA fans alike). This was the role Chael was suppose to have before he ultimately did himself the disservice of getting caught again. I guess since Chael couldn't have it, he decided to pick someone for it.

Punk will fight 3-5 fights maybe and then slide into a cushy job at Fox during or after those fights. If he is actually half decent and decides to do more, good for him. If he is not, then he has a job in LA waiting for him as an analyst. Either way, he is getting fucking paid and doesn't have to deal with any type of politics.
