I think the problem with the Arn Anderson comparison is that people are fine with Flair holding the top belt and when he did drop it to a guy like Ronnie Garvin it was shit on and Flair got it right back (I like Garvin but whatever). That was an example of the bookers listening to their audience and giving them what they want.

Not at all , man. They wanted to do a short term title change where Flair wins it back at Starrcade and they went with Garvin since he had a long term off and on again fued with Flair and he agreed to it. Fan reaction had nothing to do with Flair winning it right back. And the fans at mist of their matches were hot for Garvin. The Chicago crowd at Starrcade were pro Flair but Chicago was a Flair town. And, watch those matches, they're fucking awesome.

I've only seen the Starrcade '87 match but it is great.. I think meltzer and them may have crapped on it but it's brutal in a good way. They were hitting the fuck out of one another.

Garvin's title win I have only seen short clips...

I'm probably alone here but I absolutely love Miz's heel act. The guy is amazing at getting heat and being a sarcastic douche.

Should never again be a face though.

You're not alone. He's complete shit as a face, but this heel run where he's evolved his character has been great.

Residual resentment over his face run, increased by Flair "giving him" the figure-four.  At least that's my guess.

If they had him be like Ric Flair from the start, maybe the whole Figure Four thing would have worked. Bland babyface Miz absolutley killed him. Thank God for Damien Mizdow for breathing life into him again.

I thought Miz's strongest run was with Morrison. That stuff was great. Miz's down-slide began as soon as he adopted the WWE look. I don’t know if it was his choice, WWE forcing him, or a combination thereof. The haircut, the tights, the everything was and still is too FCW cookie-cutter for my liking.

So what metrics do I use to gauge Miz’s popularity? Crowd reaction. The fact that there is zero crowd reaction when his music hits or when he wins matches. I don’t think the ‘Miz is Awful’ chants are meant to be tongue and cheek. The WWE crowd loves to chant anything (the 9.99 chant being the best recent example), but I honestly believe people think he sucks and shouldn't be involved in the A or B shows. The guy is a good talker and promo.

I just don't buy Miz as a wrestler. He looks and acts like someone who should be getting his ass kicked. And not in the I would pay money to see him get his ass kicked kind of way. It's in the how are people selling for an average built guy with such weak looking offense.

Unless he's being booked as a chicken sh*t heel who literally gets in no offense without his muscle I don't want to see it.

He can talk and should really be a manager who occasionally has to wrestle because of his mouth.

I always thought the best way to use the Miz would have had "the Miz" gimmick be closer to how it started; Miz would go on one of those challenges, lose a big mission, get shithoused and talk to himself as "the Miz." I would buy that there is an alternate personality inside Mike Mizanin that comes out when he's down or angry or had too much to drink that talks shit and gets him into situations he can't get out of.

The great thing about Rollins' character right now is that he's so fucking dumb.  But he thinks he's the architect, this super smart guy.  And it seems like he thinks that just because the announcers started calling him that.

I've had this theory for a while that THE SHIELD was analogous to the 1985 Transformers Seekers (the conehead ones).

Ambrose is Dirge. He's the brains of the group. He's creepy, he's twisted, and he often dies BUT THAT'S OKAY because he'll be back in no time because he's never satisfied. He's brave unless someone is trying to cut his face off with a skill-saw (Energon saw?), in which case he hauls ass. After all, he prefers to be the hunter rather than the hunted, and he loves inflicting fear and pain on others. He secretly wants to be normal and fit in, be SOMEBODY, but he knows THEY will always be there to kick dirt on him and hold him down. He creeps Ramjet/Reigns out.

Reigns is Ramjet. He doesn't need brains because he's a super tough juggernaut who crashes into everything. That's his thing. He crashes into everything and everyone. He's courageous and something of a loner. Believes himself to be the king of his realm. He also sometimes travels back in time to the middle ages. I don't know. May like toast (hope he doesn't set fire to Ambrose's apartment like Tozawa supposedly did).

And, of course, Rollins is Thrust. He's dumb and cowardly, but he constantly talks about how he's superior to others. He's talented, but totally full of himself and gets in over his head constantly. He can usually be heard bragging, trash-talking, and announcing his victories before he's won. He'd possibly be the one of the trio people would remember least if not for his really cool-looking wing fans. You know those fans are cool.

Now if the coneheads ever actually WON anything the way SHIELD did, it would be perfect.

Jettison some weight, or we'll never make it back to Cybertron.
