JCM Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 The only interesting thing about Corbin is a move that he won't be able to use on half the roster, and it also happens to be pretty similar to sister Abigail. WTF was Dillinger and Jordan's entrance? That was the worst attempt at looking cool I've ever seen. I must have watched it 5 times, and it got more awkward each time lol. Main was really good little bit of a quick recovery for the finish after barely beating the 10 count. I can't help but think Neville brings nothing to the table other than flipz. Kidd is awesome right now. Bailey/Charlotte was pretty good, but my god that finisher is fucking shit.
Patrick B. Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 There is nothing wrong with little bitty guys; may I call your attention to one Hideo Itami (aka KENTA!) I like them, I just have no faith in how far they'll be able to go in WWE. It's still Vince's world and Vince's world is still the land of the giants.
The Man Known as Dan Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 There is nothing wrong with little bitty guys; may I call your attention to one Hideo Itami (aka KENTA!) I like them, I just have no faith in how far they'll be able to go in WWE. It's still Vince's world and Vince's world is still the land of the giants. Name one giant that's been pushed effectively in the last 5 years. The guys who have becoming big lately are Punk, Bryan, and now Ambrose and Rollins. Even Reigns isn't that big.
OSJ Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 OMG, I made a typo, I hope KENTA doesn't kick me for getting his fake name wrong... PowerPB13 makes an interesting point that El Dragon refutes rather nicely. Even though the perception is that VKM is fascinated by the body-builder type, other than Cena, who is far from towering, the only real hoss of the type we associate with VKM is the aging Kane. Yeah, Big Show is a real giant, and Mark Henry is certainly a big fella, but they've been there for years. Rusev and Big E are both huge guys, but I'm taller than either of them and I'm not quite 6 foot. Either because of a lack of real talent of that size or a maturing of taste (doubtful), VKM has very much allowed for an organic shift to smaller, more agile guys. That's not to say that as soon as a big guy comes along that has "it" he won't immediately get pushed to the moon. Which kind of brings us back to Corbin possessing much of the necessities for VKM to get behind.
Patrick B. Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 They are doing a better in that department, but I'll still have trouble believing it until I see it. Maybe I'm just getting too old for some of this stuff...heh.
Ziggy Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 I was thinking after seeing Bayley vs Bliss Bayley finish shouldve been the Owen Hart esque belly to belly where he catches his opponent off the ropes. Enzo and Cass are the best act going they are over as fuck and they dont seem forced at all even with the female. I dont even watch WWE tv outside of the PPVs on the network NXT is so easy to follow & it like I wouldnt complain if many of my favorite guys didnt get called up soon. Tyson Kidd needs a push, he is easily the top heel in NXT & I've enjoyed him on NXT but he deserves a push and shown he has personality.
thee Reverend Axl Future Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 OSJ- not only is your pedigree impeccable, your opinions solid like Gibraltar and your grammar top-notch, your log-rolling is Elite Class. I agrees to your BCorbin experiment, I will look hard for positivity in his drab aura of Mr. Potato Head snap-on mall biker gimmicks (he's no Chris Colt). That being said, I dutifully applaud the effort taken by NXT for his build-up & intro. Question: do you think that his matches being kept short to hide lack of ring experience/ability, or more to build him up for the monster push? The quality of any "golden era" matches really precludes catching a lot of the subtlety that rasslin' is rarely given credit for. The "playing to the cheap seats" style came across better on those old TV shows and non-mobile film cameras at the arenas. Lucha also has a broader gestural style even to this day that I enjoy but the challenge of course is to to get the most reaction with the least (seeming) effort. I luv that story of JValentine sending the crowd into frenzies with the mere unzipping of his ring jacket. [namedrop alert] Greg V told me several good stories of his dad. glad to see you posting more, RAF 1
JCM Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 I think the lack of big guys on top has more to do with the audience's expectations on what main event matches should be these days. Brock main events because he's fucking awesome in the ring. If a wrestler the caliber of Kane were to get the belt the fans would mercilessly shit on it. Out of the current big guys Harper is the only one I'd could see headlining.
Big Fresh Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Charlotte is amazing. Charlotte's finisher sucks bad. Change it.
Patrick B. Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 I'll never get why she does all kinds of leg work(figure-four included) only to finish with the flippy cutter thing she does.
Tromatagon Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 She makes it so they stand up more slowly so she can hit the move. It's Mutoh's shining wizard psychology 4
The Z Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 I hope whenever she gets called up to the main roster, The Miz finally stops using the figure four.
Beech27 Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 She makes it so they stand up more slowly so she can hit the move. It's Mutoh's shining wizard psychology So in a couple years, it'll take five to finish a match? 1
Tromatagon Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 In that couple of years Mutoh's knees continued to deteriorate. It made the shining wizard less painful because there was less knee to hit you with. 4
OSJ Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 Rev: In answer to the question regarding the Corbin squashes, since the purpose of NXT is to develop talent, the only reason for the short squashes has to be the Goldberg-style build-up as a monster. At least that's my read on it. Which means either he's come along with his ring work to the point that they think he's ready for the push or ???? I really can't see what the alternative would be, unless someone in the office is foolish enough to think that he'll improve to main show capability by osmosis. I'm guessing that based on his previous athletic experience (boxing and football) that he might have very well have been a super-quick study as far as ring work goes.
Beech27 Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 In that couple of years Mutoh's knees continued to deteriorate. It made the shining wizard less painful because there was less knee to hit you with. I'm all for a "one last run" push built around Mutoh getting some sort of experimental bionic knee replacement surgery, and hitting loaded shining wizards with his new souped up kneecaps. (I know this isn't really the thread for 90's puro legend fantasy booking. But I'm firmly on team "doesn't give half a shit about Corbin", so, yeah.)
Hail Sabin Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 May 21 2014 NXT episode the go home show before NXT Takeover. Bo-Big E Win or Go Home with the crowd going nuts with Bo Dallas having to leave NXT. Paige vs. Snuka was solid with Paige taking a nasty bump on her hip/lower back. Sasha vs. Nattie Charlotte costed The Boss the match. Nattie vs. Charlotte should be good as well as Neville vs. Kidd and Sami vs. Breeze.
Ryback Hates Bullies Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 When is the next special? I smell a Xmas special.
Patrick B. Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 I'm all for a "one last run" push built around Mutoh getting some sort of experimental bionic knee replacement surgery, and hitting loaded shining wizards with his new souped up kneecaps. Followed by the Japanese equivalent of Jack Tunney ruling that he has to wear kneepads.
Pete Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 Came up with a gimmick for Bayley if/when she gets called up: she's so nice that she makes everyone around her nicer. She wrestles matches and the heels all cheat less than they usually would. She bumps into Trips after he's just reamed out Miz or the new stooges, all pissed and making the MEAN FACE- but he lightens up and looks happy to have run into her. Kane flashes a big toothy smile as she asks him something about her opponent. Etc etc. 7
mattdangerously Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 Do that long enough and the heel who finally resists her charms could get great heat.
