Apparently - Mike Florio said that Janay asked for leniency because "the revenue would go away"

That is third hand Twitter but it did come from Doug Farrar who I trust so... yeah

I wouldn't go that far. But I tried to explain THE LIFE to some of you several days ago. But you ain't heard me.

Ravens terminate Ray Rice's contract.

So. . .who signs him?

This year? No one. No one is going to want to go near that with a 10 foot cattle prod. Its an instant shitshow if they try it.

Next year, maybe someone needing RB help will take a flyer depending on if things cool off.

If Al was still alive the Raiders would, I could see Snyder or Jerry Jones not giving a shit. . .

The professional football, baseball, basketball and hockey leagues, as well as the National Collegiate Athletic Association, all opposed New Jersey's effort to legalize sports betting, saying it could give the appearance that the integrity of the games has been compromised. An NFL spokesman declined comment; the other leagues and the NCAA did not immediately return messages Monday.

Know what else compromises the integrity of your games?

Well its not like people haven't been betting before this, might as well get the tax revenue. . .

I wish I could give a like to every post on hear(myself excluded), because they are all worthy. Don't go to hard on the fiance/wife for wanting to protect the income. That is probably the reason a majority of battered women stay with the spouse I would imagine. Fuck Ray RIce though. . . I hope this takes Goodell down, but it won't. . . .

I hope this Ray Rice fiasco is a lesson to all NFL players to always check for security cameras before punching a woman
— Matt Oswalt (@Puddinstrip)

anyone have the over/under on how much Roger Goodell thought he paid that casino to burn only copy of the Ray Rice elevator video?
— Matt Oswalt (@Puddinstrip)

So, against my better judgment, I watched the full video. Fuck...It's amazing she didn't die consider her head clanged against the hand rail.

And everything that continues today seems to get worse by the minute. The best resolution to all of this is Goodell and others stepping down.

Yeah, and I'm sure her psycho of a man, who was apparently with her when she was saying all this, had nothing to do with this at all.

I don't know Janay or why she's stuck with him. Does the financial security for her and daughter play a part? Probably, but she's also stuck in a long-term abusive relationship with this guy and that's difficult to get out of. (Judging by his calm reaction in the elevator after she's knocked out, no way is that the first time he's put his hands on her.)

I find it really unsettling that many people's reaction to seeing a young woman getting knocked unconscious by a man twice her size then dragged around like a sack of potatoes is to call her a gold-digger.

Fox News has y'all in check today.

Responding to the video, Fox host Brian Kilmeade on Monday blasted the victims of domestic violence, criticizing Palmer (now Janay Rice) and other women who don’t break up with their partner after a domestic violence incident, saying they send a “terrible message.”

Kilmeade then proceeded to provide mocking advice to Palmer, quipping, “I think the message is, take the stairs.” Co-host Steve Doocey gamely joined in, “The message is, when you’re in an elevator, there’s a camera.”

The joke is getting most of the attention, but anyone who pushes the "Why don't they leave?" view seems to forget that 75% of murders in these situations occurs because the woman has told the guy she's leaving. Georgia police's prevailing theory after the Benoit tragedy was that Nancy told him she was going and he snapped. Look at OJ and Nicole. She left and still got stabbed to death on her porch.

So why don't women leave? Because they might get killed.

Adam Silver for NFL Commish!

Half the damn league, including non-players, would have their heads on Silver's wall. Totally worth it.

So, those people who said wait and see when the first video came out are eating some serious shit now, and they should.

I think 'eating shit' is a bit of a stretch. Everything we had to base it off of was that it was mutual combat. Which is still wrong on the guy's part, but not the same as a guy just clocking a woman. I mean the court case, the female, and his employer all basically told the world it was a mutual but very unfortunate incident, without a video of the fight there was no evidence to prove otherwise. The whole 'innocent until proven guilty' thing, I don't assume that someone did the worst case scenario without proof of it.
