SEPT WRESTLING DISCUSSION THREAD

RIPPA

I guess this should be considered as unconfirmed, but Scotty Riggs tweeted about 15 minutes ago that he's been told Sean O'Haire passed away.

Awful news. Waste of talent. Haven't heard a peep about him since the MMA stint.

He was working as a hair stylist in Savannah, GA around 2012.  A review of his work can be found in this Yelp review of the salon he was at ...

Also, not trying to be a dick about this but if you guys want to post links you can't just copy and paste the url or it will turn into the white box of death. In the reply window click the link button (right below the "size" pulldown menu) and paste the link in there.

Back to O'Haire, he was one of my favorites of the "New Blood" regime that came out of WCW. I really liked his team with Palumbo. Still can't believe he didn't get over with the gimmick from the promos. Seems like at least he would have made a good mouthpiece for a stable

I think the problem was sticking him with Piper. He was a great talker in those promos, they should have had him start small. Squash a few lower card guys, move him up the ladder after a few months. If the fans aren't buying it, you have backstage vignettes where he's talking to guys trying to recruit some "like minded people". Sort of an early version of the Wyatt Family. Just seemed like a waste to stick a guy who might be a good talker (or develop into one) with someone who does all his talking for him.

Only 43? Remind me why I keep watching this stuff? That's terrible, I wonder what it was.

See, I don't think it's fair to blame O'Haire on the business. The guy hasn't wrestled in a decade. This is sad news though, I was a huge fan of his in WCW and hoped that something would materialize during his WWE run.

Terrible news. Wrestlers even nowadays dying that young is just depressing.

Never got the buzz around the Devil's Advocate shit. Then again, one of my biggest pet peeve in watching anything is when a character talks about why anyone would watch the show they are on.

It's because he was a representation of your own self-justification for acting poorly. You are effectively the heel via that character. It was pretty thoughtful, particularly for a pro wrestling gimmick.

It's clearly the fault of the business. He was alive before he wrestled.

But I'm not telling you anything you didn't already know.
