The Cena promo was awful, but Heyman's was better and this whole deal led to an awesome Cena-Cesaro match. It was every other match they've had, but a bit worse early on since they tried to have Cena 'wrestle". Super AA was a great finish and should work out perfectly for a nearfall at the PPV. Orton was quite surprised that he's not in the Summerslam main event - despite Brock-Cena being visible in the poster next to HHH. Loved the little NWO bit and the Paige-AJ stuff was great. Jericho insulting HHH and getting a match with Steph was a pure win, especially with the Cops bit. I'm sure it wasn't one, but I couldn't help but chuckle since it's the pre-show for TNA. 6-Man tag was nothing, and it's a shame the Nation of Education did nothing. Bo-Truth was a nice way to give Bo a serious edge and give Truth a win before he hopefully turns heel.

Rose-Sandow was goofy bullshit. I've seen Terrible Ted do a more dangerous-looking snapmare. The Orton-Kane-Reigns stuff dragged on for nine hours. I did love the kid yelling RANDY, YOU STINK after the two RKOs through the announce table though. Fandango-Diego sucked. The divas tag wasn't much better. Seth and Jericho was pretty good until the hillbilly teleportation and beating. Steph-Brie stuff was executed well in theory, but didn't do a thing for me until the end with the catfight and Steph doing the yes bit.

This ended up being way longer than I thought. I have nothing to do but try and let my spine realign for the next couple months so Mondays are going to involve a lot of this. Guess I can keep Jay on his toes.

Too weird seeing Joey Mercury bald.

Man Cena really needs a break, he's working at half-speed trying to do monkey flips and ranas and it just looks like shit. Cesaro is visibly slowing to keep him from completely gassing and this is like 1/3rd of the match they had earlier this year. It still picks up towards the end, Cesaro gets to counter all of Cena's trademark stuff unlike everyone else and even busts out the BANNED SWING (this reminds me of when it came out that WWE supposedly banned chops and all of the sudden everyone was doing them), finisher is a top-rope AA which Cesaro almost made into a headdrop until the last second. Certainly looked like a match-ender and something Cena will try and bust out against Lesnar which is some nice foreshadowing.

Liked lil' AJ standing on the steps. Small dog on the hill barking loud, it gave her maybe a head's height over Paige. I guess I never realized how short she was.

It is now obvious that they shitcanned Vickie because Steph can easily get the same heat and then some and they don't have to pay anybody extra. Jericho needs to go away and Rollins needs to lose the Bat-Costume.

If I can see a horrifying commercial about a fake tornado apocalypse and a commercial about a married couple hiring prostitutes to fuck themselves as soon as the break happens, as well as a commercial about an illegal man-whore doctor that works on mobsters all during this supposedly PG show, I should be able to see somebody bleed out of his fucking forehead every once in awhile on it. Fuck, I grew up looking at Rotten.com with everyone else on my junior high library computers, kids these days have been inundated with twice as worse.

The New Nation are looking stylish! Add Mark wearing the salmon suit and I fear some kind of bizarro-world Four Horsemen. No idea who will be who... but there will be four of them, and add somebody else and I guess Xavier can be JJ. Miz is best running from people. Period. They need to take away all his offense and make it nothing but face and back rakes, eyepokes, rope burns.

"WHY ARE YOU SO WET" sign in the crowd for Bo. I guess he didn't like that...

Not even Houston will pop for Dubya anymore.

I can see how Russo would book Adam Rose: a Rosebud disappears and Adam is put in the role of Michael Alig. In all honesty that might be better than what the dude's poor middle-aged ass is doing now. It's like if DDP never got the chance to shine and they just shoved him into another bad gimmick.

Well I'll be damned, Randy killed it and they wouldn't even let him use the punt. If it wasn't for the second RKO collapsing the table it wouldn't have worked, though... that and Reigns selling like absolute death for him.

I talk bad about Jericho but he had a great match with Rollins. Jericho needs to remember all those years working in Japan now though, he needs to be the grumpy older guy with a more limited moveset brutalizing the younger dudes that step up. He could easily be WWE's Koji Kanemoto but there is an edge of dickishness missing.

...aaaaaaand cue Joey Styles for the last segment.

The Cena-Cesaro match was incredible and the ending segment with Brie/Steph was brilliant but otherwise this was the Battleground ppv of Raws. Three steps back for young talent and a whole lot of nothing else in between.

On the bright side, I do look forward to the Dean Ambrose fan fics Piranesi will come up with surrounding his alleged "promotional tour." I don't know where they sent him but if Phuket doesn't figure in to his journey at some point, I will be epically disappointed.

Brie Bella found her acting range tonight. As long as she stays within the parameters showcased tonight- she should be fine going forward. It's easy to lose track of time when Raw is 3 hours, I am surprised to see the WWE logo at the bottom of the screen as Stephanie was on the ramp. What is more shocking is that a Divas angle ended Raw in 2014?

Not sure what was going on tonight, but the camera mic picked up A LOT happening in the ring. I heard at least 4 spots called during the Cena match and at least two in the Jericho match.

Damn, guess the main event of Summerslam is Stephanie McMahon Vs. Brie Bella. I mean, with how that show was built, that is the main event, right? What do you mean no? Huh?

Whatever. Brie's horrible acting closing a RAW. Great.

I think they accidentally turned Steph face tonight. I enjoyed tonight's show a lot; Cena cut the greatest Dreamer promo ever, had an awesome match with Cesaro, Dubya showed up, and yeah Steph is killing it right now she's amazing. Brie is absolutely terrible and Steph's performance just makes her look even worse.

Also Booker T being in hysterics over Steph going "ghetto" on the post show is hilarious.

The WWE has really gotten into GIRL POWER lately.

They just didn't have Brie and Steph end Raw... but they had another really good segment. It wasn't as great as last weak, since Brie's really bad at delivering lines. But Steph has inherited her father's heel genes and just carries these segments perfectly. She's really great at being a terrible human being. And since the payoffs on her are so limited -- men can't hit women, thankfully -- that it's just all this build-up to seeing her get what's coming. And it's coming from Bryan's wife, too, which also plays on that whole story.

Paige/AJ also have a really fun story going on. I'm such an AJ mark -- she knows her character and plays it perfectly well. I loved the "Did you just call me... CRAZY?" Paige is also very good at being super insincere.

They also gave us Naomi/Cameron.

AND Lana's one of the most hated heels in ages. Lana's just a terrific manager and gets it.

Really interesting to see this happen and it's really awesome to see them use ladies in these roles and beyond "foreign girl rolls around like a cat" or "melted face blonde takes off top to get public adulation from strangers" and the like.

I couldn't get into the opening segment. John Cena, no one speaks like that. He's like a robot that watched Rocky and re-wrote the script not quite understanding what he wrote or said.

Poor Zeb is flubbing his lines every week. :(

I wonder if they closed on Stephanie and Brie because Lucy was number one at the box office?

Absolutely nothing to the matches other than Cena vs Cesaro,

You would think dealing with Nidia that Noble would do better with a feisty diva.  That was a mismatch between Brie and Jamie  :D

They really need to pull some kind of trigger with the Golddust/StarDust team because these promos are becoming fast forward worthy. I guess it is leading to a tag tile match at Sumerslam?    The only bright spot (and stolen from others) is the Stardust is turning into Sheldon from Big Bang Theory

Cena and Cesaro need to wrestle each other on every major show for the next three months until I get sick of it.

Oh, who am I kidding, I'll never get sick of it.

I'm drunk as fuck (yet edit my text because I'm a legit grammar nerd) but I adore the Bellas.  I usually agree with the main posts about the show, but the Bellas are pretty damn great.  Nicki as the sympathetic face is so lovely to watch, and Brie is just killing it in her role.  I didn't give half a damn about them before, but for whatever reason I adore them  I'll leave it at that until I sober up, but the Bellas are A+ in my book.

I'll add more thoughts when sober, but I'll leave it at that right now (that damn Ouzo is playing with me, man)

Oh, right, Cena's promo at the open ruled.  I loved it, Cena going damn near weepy ruled.  The match with Cesaro ruled.  And on top of that Cesaro showing he's still friends with Heyman was cool.  In TV land him and Heyman split, but I saw them as united as ever.

I'm enjoying the Jericho/HHH/Steph stuff.  It reminds me of the fun stuff they do after the show goes off the air that we usually don't get to see where they just have random people riffing with HHH.

Yessir.  And Y2J going back to what he used to call Steph ("Filthy, disgusting...etc") was excellent before the cutoff for PG reasons.

I was on the phone listening to dumb drama while watching the Goldy/Stardust segment on mute and just watching Cody's expressions was entertaining. Who knows where they're going with that but it'll be... somewhere.

As far as Dubya in Houston goes, I guess I'll take your word for it Meanie. That airport he's named after says otherwise though

I was kinda thinking they could have the match with a stip that Brie only drops the charges if Stephanie defeats Brie. Which means if Brie gets over, we get Stephanie trial vignettes

Just when there's another Bella Twins fan, I run out of likes. :(

I think the Brie vs Steph is going to surprise people. Steph had that awesome match wih Trish that was built around high spots and slapping the piss out of each other when Trish only had a years worth of experience and Steph rarely had matches. Well, Brie has become really tight in her execution and I can wait til she suicide dives to start that match. #BrieMode
