Lineup not too terribly different than last year, but last year was one of the best G1's ever.  So no complaints here.  Just hope they can capture the fun of last year again.

I still say Tenzan has one more miracle run left in him! In that he'll finish a G1 without being injured.

* Also announced was a new partnership with Jeff Jarrett’s upstart Global Force Wrestling and that 5 ROH stars will work the final day of the G1 tour at the Seibu Dome (for which ticket sales are going well): Bobby Fish, Adam Cole, Michael Bennett, Kyle O’Reilly, Bobby Fish and Maria Kanellis.

reDRagon in New Japan? Fuck yes please.

Looking at the blocks, this year we're getting Shibata vs. Ishii III, Shibata vs. Tanahashi Shibata vs. Nakamura, Shibata vs. Nagata, Shibata vs. Ibushi, Nakamura vs. Ibushi II, AJ vs. Naito, AJ vs. Goto and Ishii vs. Ibushi. My goodness.

Darkly amused that after all the wear and tear in last year's tourney, they're actually making it longer. They really must want someone to die.

I mean, do you have a better way to get rid of Tenzan?

I like how I'm apparently not the only one whose attention was immediately drawn to Tenzan's name being in the brackets. Honestly I'm much less excited with this year's tourney than I was with last years because, as mentioned above, it's all the same guys, plus AJ as champ doesn't interest me so it's not like i'm hyped to see who gets to fight him next. I would love to see any of the following results: A) Ishii win (won't happen), B ) Ishii make it to the finals and lose in a glorious loss (probably won't happen), C) Tenzan make it to the finals and then die a la Jake Roberts in the '96 KOTR (won't happen and wou;ldn't do the company, or Tenzan, any good really).

Is it bad I still like Tenzan a lot? I know he's pretty much been the heavyweight version of El Samurai for close to a decade now but then I always had a soft spot for Samurai too.

Crazy thing is, I was loving Tenzan's G1 performance last year before he got hurt.  It really came off as the old man trying to piece it together for one last good run.

What a sick amount of talent. If you love wrestling those lineups should get you pretty excited.

I think Tenzan's spot was originally meant for KENTA before WWE snapped him up.

There is no real way to know for sure, but it is at least plausible.

I'd believe it. I think KENTA probably would have challenged Nakamura for the IC Title by now, as well.

Nice to see some (modest) Tenzan support, because he sure wasn't what your average puro fan was looking for back when he was actually good.

His battles with Starfish-head Yoshie over who had the best worst haircut in history are legendary.

The battle for best worst haircut in wrestling should be a 1,024 man tourney.  No way Yoshie or Tenzan get past something like Brad Armstrong's atomic 80's mullet.

If this year's G1 Climax is anywhere near last year's, man we have a lot to look forward to.

Man this year's A Block for the G1 is something serious. #MyGoodness

Hoping to see that Ibushi vs. Tanahashi match (FIRST NIGHT)

Looking forward to AJ Styles vs. Naito Day 4.

But it is WWE day, so I will chill with this G1 talk

My pick for this year's winner is either Okada or Nakamura, with the one that doesn't win taking the belt off Styles sometime between August and Wrestle Kingdom.

It's about impossible to pick a winner. I count at minimum 6 guys with a shot at winning. Just so loaded. My only worry is lots of very brief matches.

7-21 & 7-26 are super stacked. The oddly intriguing match of the tourny for me is AJ vs MinSu, never could have pictured that happening.

Didn't DVDVR unanimously predict a Shibata victory last year? Or was that for the New Japan cup?

You better look into local shelters then. This would be like betting on the the Jets to win the Super Bowl this year.

Another fantasy scenario I forgot to mention earlier that I would love to see: Karl Anderson leaving the Bullet Club, turning babyface, and becoming the first Gaijin G1 winner. Won't happen, but it would be cool. Maybe next year...

Nakamura seems like likely winner to me, especially coming off his loss to Fale, but he's almost TOO likely. I could see this going a lot of ways.

Last random thing: for NOAH's sake, I hope they give Nagata a strong showing (assuming he's still GHC champ come August).

Just noticed the lineups were out in full. The card with Okada/AJ, Shibata/Nakamura and Ibushi/Tanahashi is on my birthday. They better allow individual iPPV purchases this year instead of making my poor white boy ass buy all 12 shows.
