Vince Russo books old school storylines

Macho crushes Steamboat's larynx with the ring bell.

Steamboat comes back months later, and is George Steele's second for a final showdown on SNME. Before the match, Steele is found KO'd in the back. Savage goals Steamboat into a fight and Steele runs out...to help Macho kick the shit out of Steamboat.

Steele is in Macho's corner at WM III, but in a SHOCKING SWERVE Steele helps Steamboat win via a ref bump and a belt shot. Steamboat tries to injure Macho, but has to stop to take Liz out with a chop to the forehead, giving officials time to save Macho.

At the next TV taping, Steamboat cuts an angry heel promo, and Steele reveals he's actually a very intelligent man who has been playing dumb for years because... well, you people don't deserve an explanation.

Liz wears a protective mask on her face for months and Macho vows revenge, accusing Steamboat of believing that he's an actual dragon.

During the rematch on SNME, Liz turns on Macho... and is not seen until trying to save him from a beat down 18 months later.

Macho costs Steamboat the IC title. In the blowoff no-DQ match at the 1st Rumble, the match ends in a no contest when Steamboat walks out mid match. Gorilla and Jesse bury him for being unprofessional and not wanting to take the big elbow.

Steamboat returns the next TV taping as a babyface, and Savage wins the WWF title in an impromptu match.

Macho loses the belt two weeks later.

George Washington is later revealed as a British mole who only helped the Americans win the Revolution so that he could serve as a mole from within.

He loses the presidency two weeks later in an unadvertised recall vote.

This reminds me of the "Who Should Have Been the Black Scorpion?" threads that pop up on Kayfabe Memories and other old school wrestling boards every so often.  There's a fairly popular suggestion that, when they couldn't get Warrior (like that would have ever happened!), they should have turned Rick Steiner heel and had him revealed as the Black Scorpion.  Steiner was super over at the time and most of the clues would fit,

But, to pull it off, Steiner would have had to cut a promo explaining that he had been playing stupid for the previous couple years,  And the reason he would have done that was.....

Actually, back in the 80's, the rumor that George Steele was actually a tenured college professor was really persistent.  Heard that one a bunch of times.

George Steele as an eccentric college professor would've been an interesting gimmick.

"Abraham Lincoln!  "Honest" Abe, bro.  Father of the country, last of the mohicans, king of the wild frontier, bro.  And the original king of the ring, bro.  A pioneer of America and a pioneer of pro wrestling.

Abe was a tall guy but he didn't have the size of an Andre, bro.  He got over on his mic skills mainly but he could handle himself in a shoot.  He earned the respect from all the boys when he'd take open challenges from lumberjacks.  In fact he was in the first lumberjack match against a guy named Yukon Eric Cornelius.  Yukon Eric got beat so bad that he got out of the business and was never heard again.  Or maybe he never heard right again, one of those, bro.  Whatever, bro.

Abe was on top of the biz but he was never happy, bro.  I would always ask him, "Bro, what're you worried about?  You're making money, bro." but Abe was lonely, bro.  Despite being the champ he was always shy around the rats.  So I tells him, "Bro, you get the power and then you get the women." and I told him he should become President because that's the guy with the most power but Abe was worried that he didn't have the looks to be the man.  So I gave him his gimmick of the top hat and along with his trademark corn cob pipe he started going around dropping corn cob pipe bombs on the people and they started getting behind him and just like that, Abraham Lincoln was the new President of the United States, bro.  He then went on to free the slaves at the Battle of Apple Matrix.  Now he was free to spend his time trying to get laid.  Abe had his pick of the women but who did he pick, bro?  Sally Fields, are you kidding me, bro?  Burt Reynolds' sloppy seconds, but hey, the heart wants what the heart wants, bro.

Unfortunately for Abe just like a lot of pro wrestlers, he didn't get the happy ending, bro.  One night when he and Sally went to Ford Field they ran into John Milk Booth a disgruntled milk man and Abe being lactose intolerant just like his mother, well, you know the rest of the story, bro."

Every promoter in the NWA becomes a heel authority figure feuding with the top babyface of the promotion.  They acknowledge on air to the fans that they can vote for the new champion, leading to "shoots" where the champion goes against the script and refuses to lay down and lose the title.

In the build up towards WrestleMania VI, Hogan and Warrior each cut promos referring to each other as "Jim" and "Terry" while each chides the other for believing that their gimmicks (using that term) are real.

The title match is inexplicably slated to happen halfway through the show. Warrior lays down for a very confused Hogan, who accepts the pin and walks away.

Vince McMahon gets in the ring and cuts a promo on Hogan, raging against him for not wanting to pass the torch to Warrior. Vince strips Hogan of the title, then books a new main event of Warrior VS Bret, who has already lost a grudge match to Jim Neidhart thanks to outside interference from Owen dressed as the Blue Blazer.

Bret wins the title, then turns heel by renouncing his Canadian citizenship and proclaiming himself the "New American Hero".

Bret loses the title two weeks later to McMahon on an episode of Superstars.

Vince vacates the title and a tournament is held with the finals at SummerSlam. Bret wins the title again with help from Owen and Anvil, plus McMahon, who turns heel by changing the rules of the tournament final whenever it appears Bret is going to lose.

Bret loses the title two weeks later to the returning Hogan, and the whole angle is dropped.

WCW signs the hottest free agent of the time, Raven.

...who then debuts as whiny Jewish stereotype, Morty Goldstein, and immediately starts a feud with Alex Wright. Jeep Swanson is still on the roster and makes an appearance during the one off Belsen Death Match, refereed by Fritz Von Erich. Barry Horrowitz makes the save, and Alex Wright is tied to a giant Star of David.

The feud is immediately relegated to WCW Saturday Night, and after using a loaded yarmulke gimmick, both men are quickly released.

Sonny Onoo settles out of court for 45 million.

You forgot where WCW signs Hardcore Holly who keeps the "Hollycaust" name for his finisher and beats them all with it.

I would love to see what Vince Russo would have done with the Money in the Bank match, that in all probability would have been rechristened the Money on the Pole match. Swerves as far as the eye can see.

Wouldn't have just been TNA's thing where there are three cases 1 with a title match 1 that gets you fired and a random third one

Here's what I see Russo booking this year's Money in the Bank:

Match 1: There's a ref bump, Ambrose gets the case but Rollins attacks him and steals the case. The ref awakens to see Rollins holding the case so he's crowned the winner.

Match 2: Roman Reigns is going up the ladder and has the belts within grasp but someone raises the belts out of his reach. Orton manages to make it up the ladder and knocks Reigns off to gets the belts.

Rollins cashes in to end the show with the help of The Authority.

Keep in mind that this is Attitude Era Russo with Vince McMahon filtering him so this would actually be interesting to see play out on TV.

Your scenario for Match 1 sounds like the infamous Powerbomb match b/t Sid and Nash at Starrcade where Jarrett hit Sid with a guitar while the ref was bumped and Nash just convinced the ref that he did the damage to Sid with a powerbomb and won the match.

I'm honestly surprised that WWE has never had a ladder match end that way. It seems like such an obvious way for a heel to win.

October 1987: Honky Tonk Man vs. Randy Savage on Saturday Night's Main Event. In a shocking moment, Honky shoves Elizabeth to the ground as he prepares to bash Randy Savage over the head with his guitar. Liz runs off in tears, disheveled.

The Hart Foundation hold Savage by the arms as Honky prepares to strike Savage with the guitar.

Suddenly, Elizabeth re-appears with Heavyweight Champion Hulk Hogan, leading him by the hand to save Savage.

Hogan charges the ring, spins Honky around and punches him. Then he punches Neidhart, then he punches Bret Hart.

Then Elizabeth drops down and gives Hogan a low blow. It was all a set up.

Honky and the Harts put the boots to Hogan and Savage while Liz cheers them on.

Honky grabs the guitar again and rears back to hit Hogan, until Elizabeth snatches the guitar out of his hand and clobbers HIM with it, turning on him.

The Hart Foundation are stunned until their partner Danny Davis hits the ring with the Harris twins who attack the Harts.

Davis covers Hogan and beats him for the title, utilizing the newly created 24-7 rule, then he and Elizabeth hug, having set up everyone.

Russo talks for years to come about how much press it got when he decided to do the first "referee wins world title" angle for the fake wrestling title.

Hogan gets repackaged as Buster Anus and enters into a program with Koko B. Ware after attempting to sodomize Frankie.

Four weeks later, Liz turns on Danny Davis and backs the Red Rooster, re-named Throbbin Cock and WrestleMania IV is Throbbin Cock vs. Danny Davis for the World Championship in an Escape the Cage Elizabeth On A Forklift Match, where first you have to climb up the big blue cage to Elizabeth and get the key from her, then climb back down and use the key to exit through the door to win.

but my real question is - would Russo have managed to add another gimmic stipulation to the Dibiase/Duggan Tuxedo/Coal Miner Glove on a Pole/Cage Match?!

A Kiss My Ass stipulation
