The Natural Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 WWE Smackdown tapingCorpus Christie, Texas Report from Dot Net member Ernest. Smackdown 1. Randy Orton defeated Damien Sandow. The show opened with the match. Orton had a great pop and Sandow had a great promo. The crowd was into the match quickly. Cody came out and distracted Sandow, who got the RKO from Randy for the win. Cody then proceeded to steal the case leaving Sandow confused. CM Punk came out to huge pop. He cut a great promo on Brock and Heyman. The crowd loved it. Fandango came out, did his routine, and got hit with GTS. Punk left and the Wyatt's were hyped for later. 2. Mark Henry and the The Usos defeated Wade Barrett and the Prime Time Players.Poor Barrett he needs to be up in the card. Henry and the Usos received equally good pops. Henry hit the World's Strongest Slam and won the match. A video aired of AJ's "state of mind" coming tonight. Alberto Del Rio told Vicki he should pick his opponent since John Cena did. RVD came in and Del Rio told RVD to prove himself for a title shot. RVD said he would tonight. Sandow came out to look for his case. He talked to Sin Cara who speaks no English. RVD came out to biggest pop of night. 3. Alberto Del Rio defeated Rob Van Dam. Del Rio won with a kick (I think) as RVD talked to the ref. Sandow was still looking and ran into Mark Henry and Booker T. They acted like Cody was a thief. Sandow said Booker used to be GM and Booker did his "You did not just say that," phrase. AJ out next with Big E Langston and called out Dolph Ziggler. She said she is the champ and is doing fine. She then showed Ziggler's house key and they had a good exchange where AJ threw out Ziggler's belongings in ring. It ended with Kaitlyn hitting the spear on AJ and Dolph hitting Fameasser on Langston for the close of the segment. 4. The Wyatt Family defeated Tons of Funk. Bray Wyatt cut a promo on Kane after the match. Sandow went to Vicki to tell her about his lost case and said he is going to find his briefcase tonight. 5. Christian defeated Jack Swagger (w/Zeb Colter). We loved Colter's words. He did speak some truth down here, ha ha, Christian beat swagger with his finisher in a good match. Sandow was out next to issue a reward for his case. Rhodes was shown on the big screen with the case and the segment ended with Sandow chasing for his case outside. 6. CM Punk defeated Fandango. Match of the night. This should be the main event of the show. Sandow was pissed and still looking for his case outside. In a throwback from a previous Smackdown in Corpus Christi when a certain someone got chokeslamed in the ocean, Cody had the briefcase and threw it into the Bay for a huge pop to end Smackdown!!! The case was shown sinking while Sandow yelled for the case and title shot. He jumped out of nowhere to find the case but quickly retreated and ended Smackdown with Sandow chocking on water from the Corpus Christi Bay. Credit: prowrestling.net Looks a really good show. Happy to see Christian vs. Jack Swagger revisited. I really liked their series in WWECW in 2009, they had the best match in the history of it.
Johnny Sorrow Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 "We loved Colter's words. He did speak some truth down here, ha ha," Dot Net member Ernest is a lighthearted racist! 5
Bustronaut Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 I was shocked by the number of times I heard people chanting "We The People" during Swagger's match.
Stevie Ray Von Erich Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 I chalk that up more to it being fun to chant things. During the Attitude Era almost every that was over had a chant-along catch phrase. I'm excited for the Wyatts, Christian/Swagger, Punk/FANDANGO, and it being The Damien Sandow show. Sandow's eventual face turn is going to be so good.
w. josh Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 Wade Barrett must be in line for a big push in the fall. Gotta test that mettle.
Matt D Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 On the flipside, I wonder what the heck they're building Christian up for. He's sure gotten a lot of wins lately. Don't get me wrong. He's probably my favorite babyface on the roster, but even I think they should be cycling him into a tag team or something now.
Big Rob Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 It looks a pretty good show, I'm even quite keen to see Del Rio vs RVD, which I reckon will go one of two ways - really good or sloppy & boring. Based on spoilers alone, it looks better than the past couple of episodes.
JonnyLaw Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 I was shocked by the number of times I heard people chanting "We The People" during Swagger's match. I like to give people the benefit of the doubt and assume they're still saying "Weed The People."
caley Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 Weird that they would have the Wyatts in-ring debut on Smackdown!?
Playa Shunna Ver 3.0 Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 I'm really looking forward to it. Van Dam is getting a lot of TV time. I'm happy to see him back on the big stage.
Bustronaut Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 It's their debut, trying to be cautionary in case they shit the bed
Overly Critical Man Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 Glad to see Dolph has found his niche as Kaitlyn's sidekick. 2
Dolfan in NYC Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 I would so love it if this were a massive ruse on Kaitlyn and it ends with Dolph viciously turning on her at Summerslam.
Overly Critical Man Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 All that would do is open the door to Dolph jobbing to Kaitlyn after doing a backflip sell for her spear on a throwaway episode of Smackdown. Search your heart...you know this to be true. 2
scraylo187 Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 The We The People chants are sad... Not so much because it paints Americans as dumb racists, but that WWE fans are trained monkeys hitting cues.
Johnny Sorrow Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 I think maybe it's mostly heel fans, as in "fans of heels" , being heel fans, like me and my pals were back in the Eighties when we'd cheer the Kolloffs and stand up and salute with Sheik and Volkoff as Volkoff sang the Russian Anthem. Only problem is that we just came off as assholes, not racists. Lol.
Fat Spanish Waiter Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 The We The People chants are sad... Not so much because it paints Americans as dumb racists, but that WWE fans are trained monkeys hitting cues. WWE fans > any other pro wres fans.

Until they refer to themselves as "Dolphins" or part of the "Chain Gang"...then they instantly become scum of the Earth.
Brian Fowler Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Hey man, Chain Gang is the click. whatever the fuck that means.

WWE fans > any other pro wres fans. I might take NXT over them. We're talking American, right? Because then I'd have go to bat for insane Mexican fans getting punched in the face or the "Ooooohhhhhh" from Japanese fans.
DJ Hero Morganti Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Hey man, Chain Gang is the click. whatever the fuck that means. We fight together we ride together. Right now we fit to get live together. 1
J.T. Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 I have decided that I hate Bray Wyatt's finisher because of the thumbguard on his right hand. He needs to be making dudes tap out to the Oriental Spike. 1
rzombie1988 Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 I reviewed Smackdown with pics and gifs here:http://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2013/07/wwe-friday-night-smackdown-7262013.htmlOverall thoughts: The end segment was okay but I didn't really like the rest of this. There were too many quick matches and wrestling clearly wasn't the focus here. I thought this show sucked and if you take out all of the commercial's and entrances, I'd be surprised if the show was one hour total. Some shots from the show:
GOTNW Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 I kind of wish Vickie let Del Rio pick his Summerslam opponent just for him to answer with: "It's.............it's Christian!".
MGFanJay Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Yup. This was a show. RVD-Alberto was absolutely baffling. http://jayreviewsthings.blogspot.com/2013/07/sd-7-26-13.html Screens - http://www.imagebam.com/gallery/y8eqfg9wq63r5faxc2slo3489r1ail6g
