The Man Known as Dan
Furthermore, I don't think saying Duncan is the best player on the PF list would be a huge stretch. I certainly think it's the smallest gap between 3 and 1. It'd be fun to figure out a bench for this team too. Defensive C Mutumbo? Rebounding specialist Rodman? Combo Guard Iverson? 3 Point Specialist Miller?
Burgundy LaRue
Also Wilt at $3 is insane. . . . It kind of proves how incredible Kareem was. Duncan gets picked because at $3, he's a strong value. Not as good of value as Hakeem, but it'll work.
Cristobal
This is why I like the Magic/Jordan/Pippen combo. Trying to defend Magic AND MJ with other guards is next to impossible. You'd need a top SF like LeBron to rotate, and that leaves Pippen against a guard who probably can't handle him. And doubling up doesn't work when you've got other top-50 talent at the 4 and 5. Can anyone name a team that tops Magic/Jordan/Pippen/Duncan/Hakeem comprised of the other players?
mco543
There is no way in hell that Wilt should be cheaper than Russell. That is just madness, almost as absurd as Duncan costing $3.
jaedmc
I love Barkley - one of my favorite players all time - but it's a great position to save money and still get a high quality player. Duncan/Dirk/Garnett all have different strengths that can go with whatever it is you're trying to build. This is why I like the Magic/Jordan/Pippen combo. You basically CAN'T defend against that trio, and doubling up doesn't work when you've got other top-50 talent at the 4 and 5. So you're saying you and me did it the right way. Tiller
As far as building a team for LeBron, I think I would go: PG: Stockton SG: West SF: LeBron PF: Barkley C: Olajuwon Stockton and West are the best shooting backcourt possible probably, and we know LeBron likes to look for shooters. Plus, Barkley and Hakeem have good enough jumpers to spread the floor. LeBron and Hakeem can take turns posting up, Barkley can gobble up rebounds and get putbacks. Also, think about LeBron and Barkley as a fastbreak tandem. I think they would be even more entertaining than Wade/LeBron are now. And much more intimidating. You also could have switched Barkley for Dirk to add more shooting, then replace Olajuwon with Wilt who would just stand under the basket to block everything and get all the rebounds.
Burgundy LaRue
As for a team that could possibly beat Magic/MJ-- Kareem ($5) Oscar ($4) West ($3) Durant ($2) Garnett ($1) I would take my chances.
Go2Sleep
I think the best lineup would be Stockton/Jordan/Pippen/KG/Hakeem. You have a clear #1 scoring option and iso player, a secondary low post player, good P&R combos, a little bit of range, no FT liabilities, and a defense that would only give up 70 points a game. If I had to try to make a team to beat Magic/Jordan/Pippen/Duncan/Hakeem out of the players remaining, I'd gamble with Wade/LeBron/KD/Dirk/KG. LeBron would do most of the ball handling and prime KG could defend any center so I'm not too worried about not having a true point or center, and at least there's no dramatic size mismatches even though I wouldn't be too thrilled about Dirk guarding Timmy on the low block. If the 3s are dropping, then I think this team could win a shootout working a slash and kick offense.

Can anyone name a team that tops Magic/Jordan/Pippen/Duncan/Hakeem comprised of the other players? Oscar/Kobe/LeBron/Barkley/Shaq would be my team that I think could beat that team. Oscar Robertson had the size to be able to handle Magic. Prime Kobe matches up better physically against Jordan than Wade, plus he can shoot 3's better. LeBron on Pippen works. Shaq's gone to work on Hakeem before. The PF was the toughest one to pick but I went Barkley because of the offensive rebounding.
Burgundy LaRue
I thought about a team of LeBron/Kobe/Isiah/Shaq/Garnett. Shaq's FT shooting scares me and Isiah's too small for Magic, but they'd have a puncher's chance.
