Fargo

You have BBT and Martin Freeman crushing it every week, the only two people that even remotely stack up to the True Detective guys, and you talk about Colin Hanks.

At no point in this sentence did you make a coherent point.

Ok let me put it in a language you understand.

COLIN HANKS NOT AS GOOD AS ANYONE ELSE IN SHOW. WATCHING SHOW AND LIKING COLIN HANKS LIKE WATCHING PORN AND ADMIRING DIALOGUE.

I even included the word "porn" so you might make it to the second sentence without getting distracted by the sound of your own breathing.

How dare you defile the good names of Blade and Wesley Snipes with this cretin

Very few men have the prestige of doing movies like THE DETONATOR (!) AND THE CONTRACTOR (!!)

Colin Hanks is a major character on a show that will be nominated for Emmys and Golden Globes

Wesley Snipes is in a movie this year where he will have a comparable number of lines as noted actors Ronda Rousey and Victor Ortiz

Wesley Snips is the truth.

Also, while Colin Hanks isn't anything great, I would say this type of role is perfect for him. He's not a lead and doesn't have to carry a storyline. He's merely along for the ride and excelling in his role, although I feel like any number of folks could do just as good a job portraying his character. He isn't detracting from the show like he did with season 6 of Dexter. So that's nice.

I remember watching True Detective and wondering if I'd ever see a one-off/debuting television season with lead characters like that ever again. I didn't think it'd happen just a few months later. The most impressive part about Fargo is the depth of the amount of super quality characters on the show.

Am I gonna get a lot of heat if I say I was letdown by the finale?

I didn't think it was bad, but it felt really slow. I guess I was just expecting some epic blow off that never happened. I also didn't feel the same tenseness that I felt during the True Detective finale.

That said, the season was tremendous and I'm stoked to watch it again.

Lester and the bear trap was a pretty choice moment, but yeah...  not a big fan of Colin Hanks Wins LOL.  That was Molly's win.

I thought Mr. Wrench would be the one to off Malvo honestly. After the speech Molly gave him in the hospital and Malvo freeing him and telling him to come see him if he was still "sore" over his partner, I thought Wrench would get a redemption arc and complete it by killing Malvo.

So there were a few loose ends in the show. Stavros, Widow Hess, Chazz and his wife and the aforementioned Wrench. Stavros' arc was kind of left hanging after his son died and the fish storm. Hess wasn't mentioned again after not getting the insurance money. Chazz will get out of jail and the truth will come out about Lester so what happens with him and his (ex?)wife? And Wrench is still on the loose with no employers, his partner is dead and the guy he would've taken revenge on is dead.  Anyone think that if there's a season 2, one or more of those characters could get revisited? I'd like to see a follow-up with Wrench and also Chazz and family.

I thought the finale worked perfectly with everything else in the show.

I had certain expectations based on the movie, one of which was that Molly wouldn't get the big "win" (Much like how Marge never apprehended Jerry).  I was satisfied that both Nygaard & Malvo got their comeuppance.  I thought Gus killing Malvo actually made sense - maybe even more sense than if it had been Molly.  Gus let Malvo get away once, and a lot of people died.  Molly's detective work helped Gus realize that Malvo was a force of evil that would never stop, and their relationship in turn gave him more of a reason to step up and risk stopping Malvo, in order to protect his family.  Gus overcame his fear to stop Malvo.  Molly got what she deserved - the chief position.  Gus got to look Malvo in the face, and shoot him dead - he didn't walk up and kill him from behind like a bitch.  Gus handled his business like a man.

Lester going out like he did was a callback to when he escaped earlier, and he went out like a bitch.  Was kinda surprised he wasn't just apprehended - like Jerry Lundergaard.

Plus we got to see Key & Peele get killed in spectacular fashion.

If they do a follow up, I want it to be about whatever the hell happened to Lou back in '78.

Molly didn't go full Margie, but we got a glimpse when she was in the interrogation room with Lester. I don't think anyone can top Margie scolding Gaear while he was in the backseat like she was talking to her bad five year old son. Simply uncanny.

Agreed on wanting a Mr Wrench appearance although, in saying that, I do miss the Wrench/Numbers partnership. I liked that they didn't even bother their arses teaching Adam Goldberg and the other dude sign language and just went 'fuck it, just improvise' so they started waving their hands around and whatnot.

Cracked up at Molly's '....the other one now?!' when she heard about the 2nd Mrs Nygaard.

Not sure if the Fox/Rabbit/Cabbage puzzle was a deliberate reference (probably not) to the training day Fox/Chicken/Grain scenes from The Office but I found it funny anyway considering Freeman and all.

Gareth: [looking at the picture] How big is this chicken that it's the same size as a bag of grain?
Tim: I dunno. Big chicken.
Gareth: How big?
Tim: Big. It's a super-chicken.
Gareth: What's the farmer doing with a fox? A fox is a farmer's worst enemy. He should just drown the fox in the river.
Tim: Gareth. It's just a puzzle. You know it's just a puzzle.
Gareth: Yeah. Well. It's stupid. Doesn't mean anything. What are we learning from this?
Tim: It's not about learning. It's just a problem to be solved.
Gareth: Put the grain on a wall.
Tim: There's not a wall.
Gareth: There's always wall.
Tim: Not here, there isn't.
Gareth: What? There's nothing? There's just a farm and a river? Get his wife to help.
Tim: He hasn't got a wife.
Gareth: All farmers have wives.
Tim: Not this one. He's gay.
Gareth: Well. Then... he shouldn't be allowed near animals, should he?

Good but not great last episode but definately overall a great series. I hope they do another one but if they do, they'll have a super difficult time bettering Freeman and Billy Bob in this because those two were fucking immense throughout.

If they do a follow up, I want it to be about whatever the hell happened to Lou back in '78.

I had kinda thought we were going to find out Malvo was involved in the '78 thing but then Lou didn't recognise him and that and it didn't go anywhere.

I finally finished the series. I loved that final episode. I had such a sense of dread for Gus when he was walking into the woods and then completely forgot he was in the cabin until Malvo went back there. The bear trap was also such a great WTF??? idea.

I loved the scenes with Lou and Gus's daughter on the porch together. That was such great economy. Just a few episodes before, those two characters would have had no absolutely no reason to interact. But then because they jumped time, and did it so well, it made such perfect sense and was really touching, despite the horrors of living in fear of a madman.

I thought the end was great, too. Molly didn't get the collar herself and her husband killed Malvo. But she's there watching Deal or No Deal with her family and is going to become police chief and get to run the show. Because of her, life's returned to normal and that's all she ever really wanted.
