The Idiocy of Donald Sterling

I think that's the most surprising part of this whole mess. Given all the prior evidence/lawsuits of Sterling's racism, why would ANY chapter of the NAACP give him an award?

I'm sure he makes "donations" to them so they don't give him any shit.

Couldn't the other NBA owners after this season just vote to contract the league by one team, and that team is the Clippers? Then they announce they're expanding the league by one team, based in Los Angeles, and award it to a new owner.

The Los Angeles Clappers?

I'm expecting Larry Flynt to come through with an offer for $1 million to Sterling's girlfriend if she is willing to star in a porn movie where she gets gangbanged by a bunch of black dudes.  He has a history of getting a ton of free press by publicly offering money for people like Casey Anthony to pose nude or appear in porn.

The worst part about this Sterling mess is that it's taking away from a truly incredibly first round. We seriously have to talk about Donald Friggin' Sterling and read think pieces about race in America in 2014? I legit just wish we could ignore it so we can focus on Troy Daniels.

If ever there was a weekend for McHale or Stotts to bitch about the officiating and dare the NBA to fine them, this would be it.

I think Silver would turn them into a whipping boy for Sterling, actually. . .

Just when you thought it was safe to sleep; Woj hits us with a drone attack. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/exit-strategy-for-nba--donald-sterling--sell-clippers-to-magic-johnson-073015142.html

I wish people would ignolige that Magic only owns like .0001% of the Dogders. The group just understands he the best face for the group.

In the interest of nitpickery, it's 3-4%. Roughly as much ownership as he used to have with the Lakers.

ignolige

Pretty sure you mean "acknowledge", but what up with that?

He wanted everyone to read the entire post, to figure out what he was writing about.

He's right though. Everyone always says Magic as the owner of the Dodgers, but its this far bigger group that owns them and Magic is just the figure-head, which is a genius thing to do. I do think if Sterling puts the Clippers up for sale, the group that owns the Dodgers would probably want to buy the team.

At the same time, Sterling's been this way for ages. Its gonna have to take a lot of pressure to get him to sell.

I thought Stan Kasten was figurehead for Dodgers.

WHO? :)

They both are, but there's a big difference in who people recognize more between those two.

Its interesting no one is mentioning how Sterling will actually win in all this if he sells the team. Whatever the price has been for past NBA teams sold, Clippers are peaking and in LA. Gonna get a lot of money if he sells now.

I'm sure his wife, who just hired a divorce attorney, is gonna enjoy it a lot more.

Didn't Sterling also buy the team for something like $250,000 when they were in San Diego? I forget the exact number but it was really for nothing.

Life really isn't fair.

Also, the ESPN article about things today talked about how last year when they won something (the division or a playoff round or something), Sterling led the team in a ridiculous "Hip Hip Hooray!" chant. They also talk about how he was surrounded by cronies. Can you imagine being THAT dude's flunky yes-man? That's beneath pond scum.
