Craig H Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 And Adrian Wojnarowski seems to think that Fish would be the best fit for the Lakers head coach. Ok then...
jaedmc Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 "Timeout! Everybody bring it in, bring it in. I got this." - Coach Swags, every timeout.
AlfredoE Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 HA! I was going to mention it. I don't think he'll be the coach. Its gonna be Swaggy P, I'm tellin' ya! He'll lead all coaches in 4-point plays every time the team accidentally passes him the ball.
jaedmc Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 I don't think he'll go, either. I don't know how Lakers could adequately compensate us for him, for one. I think it's just a ploy to scare Nash into retiring.

AlfredoE Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Can't trade the pick. I don't think they'll hire a coach until after the lottery on May 20th. I still say the coach will be either Byron Scott or Derek Fisher.

Stepien rule? Can't (usually) trade your first rounder two years in a row. Cleveland literally mortgaged their future for mid-80's mediocrity. The picks they traded became: Sam Perkins (1984, 4th overall) Derek Harper (1983, 11th overall) Roy Tarpley (1986, 7th overall) Detlef Schrempf (1985, 8th overall) Dennis Rodman (1986, 27th overall)

The #1 pick, BIG GAME JAMES WORTHY!!!! He'll be representing the Lakers at the lottery!
jaedmc Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 In theory, we could have the Lakers pick what we want and then we get that player after the draft. There's no fucking way you give up a lottery pick in this particular draft for a coach though.
Brian Fowler Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Not for anything less than a 15 years younger Phil Jackson, at least.
AlfredoE Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 We should trade the #6 pick for Thibs, Taj Gibson and the right to have Derrick Rose seated alongside Steve Nash and Kobe on our injured list. 1
Dolfan in NYC Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Welcome Grizzlies fans who Have Temporarily Hopped the Bandwagon While the Lakers Suck! 3
Charlie M. Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Mike D'Antoni to the Warriors seems like a real possibility. That would be fun.

There's no fucking way you give up a lottery pick in this particular draft for a coach though. You can't trade a player for a coach, as the Doc Rivers saga showed. I suspect that draft rights would be treated the same way as a contracted player and you could only offer cash or future picks as compensation for poaching a coach.
Brian Fowler Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Mike D'Antoni to the Warriors seems like a real possibility. That would be fun. As ineffective as his last two stops have been, that still sounds like a decent idea.

As ineffective as his last two stops have been, that still sounds like a decent idea. D'Antoni coaches offense well and the Warriors have the type of players that would fit his system. Bogut is injured so often, that he might not be around enough to hate D'Antoni. I would be surprised if they hired him though when there seem to be so many other alternatives.
Burgundy LaRue Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 No one is welcoming our resident Mavs fan? Y'all some cold ice cubes.

It would just be his run with the Suns, Part 2.
