My cousin split with his three dogs from Tampa to Miami immediately. Smart man.

Anyway, this is my friend Nathan. Good people. Help him if you're feeling charitable. He used to run Error Records here in town before he moved, was in several bands, and went through two separate buildings for the store/venue actually before he threw in the towel.

Ugh. This actually hits home as my grandparents used to winter in Siesta Key, so we'd go down there for Spring Break back in high school. The beach sand there was like powder... so amazingly soft. And it may never come back.

It only took until November, but it finally feels like Fall outside. The high temp for yesterday was about 75, and this morning Alexa tells me that it's only 55 with high winds.

Basically every improvement we've made to the house in the last five-six years has been with waterproofing in mind. Maybe it won't matter, but we've fixed the side door and put a sump in on that side of the house, have resloped the back yard including taking out a tree and putting in this fairly ugly plastic strip across the end of the yard at the bottom of a hill from the people behind us to redirect the water around the house, have gotten new front and back doors and had the wood underneath them replaced. These are the things we've chosen to done instead of redoing a kitchen or whatever.

We were in the 60s and the next day the hammer came down: 30s with 40 MPH winds and just blistering waves of flurries. I got spooked and cut my work aid appt. short to get home before it turned into an ice rink.

...which of course, did not happen, and now it's just a bland 30s-40s. But she's finally here.

It started snowing on Monday night and it only melted this afternoon when it started raining. But in that intervening period, well. The forecast said -2 to -3 celsius (about 30 Fahrenheit). My outside thermometer recorded a -8 (18 degrees Fahrenheit).
