They aren't, except for the first one, The Legacy. I don't know what happened after that. It took my late friend Hartmuth (RIP) sending me "Curse of the Legions of Death" aka "C.O.T.L.D." (why would you abbreviate such a badass songtitle?!) on a comp to get me to listen to it because The New Order was so disappointing as a kid. He had released so much cool music on his own label and was such an old-school bastard that it had to be good, and sure enough, it was.

I did go ahead and listen to the song though. It's nothing special IMO. To be fair, besides Metallica and Megadeth (and if you count Slayer and Possessed, both of whom I honestly rather consider among the first death metal bands) I've never been a Bay Area thrash guy. Exodus and Testament both put out one good album apiece. Vio-lence put out about half of one. Death Angel's debut was okay. Sadus was death-thrash. Hirax were the only other pure thrash band that put out a string of good releases; I can even get down with their new stuff, and they still rip live. To me its always been about the German scene from back then.

Sleep Token's "Emergence" has been stuck in my head so much that I downloaded their entire catalog on Amazon Music. An  interesting band to say the least. Not even sure if they're considered metal, but they sound it.

FYI, Entombed's Left Hand Path turned 35 today and Motorhead's Another Perfect Day turned 41 (my age!). You know where to find 'em -- and they should be in your collection, you naughty children. Another Perfect Day is a real cult favorite with me. Excellent songwriting and WILD artwork, never got a fair shake from the fans though they ended up playing about half the songs live over the years. And "Shine" is a fucking masterpiece.

Just released today! Mirai (Sigh's brain/heart/hands/lungs) never liked the recording of the first Hangman's Hymn so he decided to do it over, and this is decidedly better. I tried to listen to the original yesterday and got that faux orchestra was overbearing. This has way more balance, even if the drums, horns, strings, probably the choirs, etc. are phony as hell. That's part of the Sigh charm really, ever since Hail Horror Hail, you just gotta get used to it. Like the King Diamond ripoff falsetto lines in here which sound new to me, and are jarring as well. Somehow, it all comes together and just works.
