On this week's Experience, we're joined by The Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer.

Dave and Jim talk everything TNA/ROH/Destination America. From the news of cancellation, to schedule changes, to the recent announcement of ROH coming to Destination America, we've got you covered!

This is basically the week for Cornette to have a podcast. Great talk with Big Dave.

Also, Flair's podcast is SHOCKINGLY good. Like most, I thought it could be a colossal trainwreck where a rambling Flair kind of depresses us. So far, it hasn't been that way at all. His co-host is no great shakes, but it's good that they have someone there to steer the interview and Flair can jump in with stories and bullshit and kind of just be Ric Flair. Flair doing a 30 minute JR-esque monologue to start every show would have been the worst thing in the world.

I laughed pretty hard at the breaking news bit on Cornette whenever Alice got word on Twitter about ROH to DA and gave Jim the news. Perfect thing to have had happen right before Corny got on with Meltzer.

Fun show.

Flair/Foley was fun. A little too much talk about their daughters but when they talked about stuff they'd done together it got really good.

One line summed up Flair perfectly. :) The biggest problem he had with cutting his hair in the early 90's was that no one recognized him in the airport.

Flair is refreshingly honest on this show.

I've been listening to lots of different podcasts in the past week as I'm interested to hear what everyone has to say about Dusty.

What's the thoughts on the Cheap Heat podcast? I tune in every once in a while to get a handle on what the "mainstream" thinks about wrestling today. Sometimes their info is way off base, and I don't always like their opinions, but Rosenberg's enthusiasm is refreshing.

The Terry Funk episode on the Ric Flair podcast had a stellar sequence of the "who's dead or in a nursing home" talk between the two with Terry ending that topic pretty decisively.

Only oddity on Woo Nation is that the player doesn't display hour markers. So I thought David Crockett was a 27 minute episode

Finn Balor was on Talk'n Shop, and it was pretty damn good.  Because it was setup by WWE it was profanity-free.  The surprising thing is HHH set them up with the conference room and Karl Anderson was praising WWE and the Performance Center.  It was nice hearing them so happy to meet up again and you can tell Balor was a bit emotional at the end.  Great episode.

Mike Tenay on Ross Report (starts around the 20 minute mark).

Tenay talking about operating a sportsbook. And running a wrestling newsletter in the 1960s using the Fan Clubs in magazines as sources.

His friend finding out The Destroyer's name by writing down his license plate number and contacting the state of New York. Alright.

Tenay kinda comes off as a bit of a charming lunatic talking about having dad take him to get Mexican magazines for his newsletters. And somehow I thought of Bix in regards to the mental image of Young Tenay working his sources to get his stuff in the 1970s.

Billy Robinson, casino security guard.

So many 5 minute long JR rants that morph into slight openings for Tenay to talk.

Also, he consulted Chris Cruise/Mike Tenay before When Worlds Collide.

The story of Tenay getting a wrestling radio show thru an appearance talking wrestling on a late night sports show.

update on Piper's Podcast:

He's no longer on Podcast One, now found here: http://www.soundcloud.com/piperspit. There is an episode there where Will Sasso impersonates Stone Cold which was pulled off the Podcast One feed.

credit to the great Joe Gagne for this. Go check out his Voices of Wrestling Podmass column every Friday http://www.voicesofwrestling.com/author/joegagne/ and his most recent 'Joe vs. the World' covering Eddie Gilbert's 1990 run in USWA http://www.thecubsfan.com/2015/07/03/joe-vs-the-world-79-eddie-gilbert-uswa-1990/

I'm loving Flair's podcast. I figured it would be a rambling, incoherent mess but god he's doing everything right. Having a co-host is a nice touch, but Conrad's great about only chiming in when there is a break in the conversation and keeping his input minimal. I love the length too, keeping everything between 60-80 minutes. I don't mind a 2 hour podcast if it's mostly all interview but when the first 30 minutes is the host rambling about the same shit he always blabbers about followed by basically the same interview week after week irregardless of guest... well it gets old pretty quick.

Not that I'm talking about any specific podcast host of course.

*cough*JR*cough*

Episode 19 of the Wrestling Night Review Podcast is live as I join Master of Ceremonies "Furious" John Zornek and "the Modern Day Vegan Warrior" Phil Bryer for yet another recap of our favorite night of the month.

http://wrestlingnight.podbean.com/e/wrestling-night-podcast-episode-19/

We had one hell of a showdown of Aces played against each other, with three matches that have coincidentally gotten the 5 spot from Meltzer, which means they must be good, right? Along with some UWF to round things out, and who doesn't love them some UWF?!

Match 1:
(Me) - El Samurai VS Koji Kanemoto - NJPW Best of the Super Juniors Finals 06/1997
(John) - Akira Maeda VS Kazuo Yamazaki - UWF 05/1988

Match 2:
(Phil) - Akira Hokuto VS Shinobu Kandori - AJW 04/1993
(Kenny) - Stan Hansen/Terry Gordy VS Genichiro Tenryu/Toshiaki Kawada - AJPW Real World Tag League Finals 12/1988

We open things up discussing a throwaway comment Roddy Piper made on the Art of Wrestling about the differences in how he came up in the business in regards to television VS live shows. Should we be left wanting more in this day and age? Are we as wrestling fans supersaturated with big matches and big finishes? And where are we heading 10 years from now? All of this is touched on and more in the first segment. Some other topics that come up over the course of the podcast include how surprisingly handsome El Samurai is, whether or not Terry Gordy is an Animal Beast Machine, a very frank conversation with John about his weight and how his love of food applies to the movie Sleepers, how hierarchy and clear dynamics are awesome in pro wrestling and lacking in modern puro, and just what a pair of dickheaded pants would look like. Then we close out the recording discussing some of our other favorite matches of the night, such as Flair VS Steamboat from Saturday Night, Harada VS Asahi for the GHC Jr Championship, and Jim Breaks VS "Hong Kong" Sammy Lee. This episode was a blast to record and I hope it comes through when you listen!

started listening to Wooooo Nation and I've really enjoyed them so far.  Like Piper, I was afraid this could become a train wreck, but Ric seems to be in a good place and his partner keeps things on track.  It also seems like Ric's willing to let some of the heat of the past go which is good.

What's the story with this Conrad guy who co-hosts Ric Flair's podcast? Love the job he does but I'm just curious if anyone knows his background. I was listening to the JJ Dillon episode and Flair went on a rant about how Conrad should never get married, and he made it sound like the guy is some multi-millionaire.

I think he's just a fan. He apparently owns/works for a mortgage company, so he's probably pretty good on money.

Edit: I just realized what the name of the company was, wonder if that's a Memphis reference.
