Shaxx is going to be out of a job soon. While I wasn't planning on playing this months banner I was going to take advantage of all the good players being in there and finishing off the Crucible quests. Maybe next month.

Edit: So it seems the Nightfall just kicks you with an error. The Heroic Strike modifiers don't work.The challenge mode in the raid no longer works. and the Court of Oryx bosses are rotating. That's on top of all the issues the crucible had last week and whatever game breaking bug they found that caused ToO and IB to be cancelled.

Seems like since they announced Rise of Iron it's all gone to shit. What the hell was in that patch they released last week?

Seems it's working now.

Prison looks to be a fun one this week, maybe to make up for the crappy modifiers and the 2 worst bosses last week. Catapult, Specialist and grenade bonus. With the right settings you can be recharging grenades in a matter of seconds and with specialist you can farm the prison at about 5 mins a run.

Yeah, this hiatus from Destiny is turning from an extended vacation into a divorce.  Every time I turn around there are more incentives not to start grinding again.

Thing is, it's not really a grind anymore. At least not compaired to how it used to be. I played The Taken King for maybe 5 months and didn't get a single character to max light. 1 month into the April update and I had all 3 just by playing a single activity for about an hour/hour and a half a week on each character. 

The grind now isn't just to get to max light it's for those looking for perfection. God roll weapons and perfect stats on armour. 

I think the biggest problem with Destiny is Bungie (and Activision?). Constantly fixing things that aren't broke and breaking things in the process. That and I think they expected to have Destiny 2 ready this year. When it wasn't, they quickly had to throw together the April update (which ended up having the best 'quality of life' improvements so far) and now Rise of Iron to keep the content coming. I wounder how much of TTK should have been in the base game? There's already a bit of evidence to suggest Rise of Iron is content left out of House of Wolves. The raid is rumoured to be an updated version of the raid we never got. And the snow theme from the HoW trailer that never materialised in game seems to be the location of RoI.

They're kind of stuck. The peices they release as a whole are really good but they can't seem to get them out fast enough to keep the content starved hardcores happy. How much better would Destiny have been if it came with TTK content? How much content are we getting bastardised early from Destiny 2 to keep people happy? Only for them to complain when 2 hits and it's lacking like the original.

Eh, not really.  Im kind of immune to the bs from bungie by now.

 

As far as how its playing on xbox, same as ever good and bad.  Ive got some buddies that said they did the oryx challenge mode last night and didnt get shit.  Today we detonated all 16 bombs on his ass and he no sold it, then hulked up and made a comeback, big boot and leg dropped us.  Thats kinda normal shit, I suspect someone didn't kill their knight, but im the guy holding down 3 and one side of the map usually by myself.  

 

Also, I caused a wipe once due to a crude joke.  Damien was bragging about his military service to another dude in the party, a marine I think, and he said something along the lines of "id have been in there for 20 years if I wasnt discharged"  to which I replied "I thought they repealed 'dont ask dont tell'..." at that point nobody was able to shoot anything, forgot where our platforms were, and we all died. I guess you had to be there for it.

So much coe completed today, all three characters with 3-4 exotics, one of which was a 335 truth, to infuse into my 334 truth.  Also got the dark drinker so I have all 3 exotic swords at last.  

 

 Finally got damien through the hard raid, and I got the hunter harrowed helm@ 335 to unlock the shader, which looks kinda cool.  Didnt get anything good, another lucky raspberry that will go into something somewhere.

 

Also got a totems cp so probably gonna hit it up again tomrrow with slimyelbow who finally got another xb1

Fuck my life.

Had a little time tonight, so I thought I'd LFG a raid to at least get through Warpriest and have a shot at the 335 heavy weapon I need to finish my Titan.  No problem, right?  I find this LFM group that says something like, "330+ only, ToM/Spindle, must be experienced, going for a quick run," and I'm like, these are the guys I'm looking for!

These shits couldn't even clear the fucking totems.  THE TOTEMS.  Wasted an hour of my time on those guys before they were all, "Let's take a break and clear our heads."  Um, no.  I'm out.

Shit happens so much, and I hate lfg for it. Sometimes though, you fall into a group that can actually do shit and kill shit.  About three weeks ago I lucked into a group where we didnt wipe until oryx and only wiped I think 3 times total doing the oryx challenge mode.  We fucked off for an hour last night trying to get it done, detonated all 16 bombs and oryx no sold it and kicked us in the dick fbefore I finally had enough and tapped out.  Tonight we dropped in and that prick to one and done his ass.  Not even so much as a $10 spot on the dresser for a cab to saturn, his bitch ass is still on that float of shame

I'd say Totems is the worst part of the raid with randoms. At least with the boss encounters and the higher light now 4 good players can carry 2 others. But Totems, it's damn hard to 4 man that. I've tried a few times with people I play regularly with and we still can't get the timing down. If you've got a guy who can't stay alive or doesn't know what they are doing, even a full team of 6 is going to struggle.

Theres not many of my original group left now and even then most people aren't online at the same time. We nearly always have to LFG a couple of slots. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't.

I probably had my best raid with a couple of LFGers last week. Me and 3 regular guys 4 manned it up to Totems, got 2 randoms in, one only around 315, and smashed through the raid. Only wipes were on Gogloroth since we didn't have a Hunter for extra damage. After that we didn't die again.

I would completely be that liability on LFG, sadly. In other news, I knocked out the final taken King mission and beat Oryx on my first run. That was a tense, high stress situation, which I probably benefited from thanks to being over leveled on it. (I played on Normal (now Easy) which I believe is Level 34).  The Oryx fight solo takes a good while once you get teleported to the section at the end with the fog.

I looked at doing a Strike before bed to try and get my light up further. The Heroic strikes require at least 260 light. I'm a little under 250 currently, and I'm somehow doubting the Level 36 strikes are going to be worth running due to lack of gear drops.

The gear that drops from the 36 strikes is actually the same as the heroic strikes. Back when blues topped out at 300 I had a few max level prices drop for me just running the regular playlist.

The advantage of the heroic strikes is you get 10 legendary marks per completion for your first 3 strikes and a guaranteed legendary engram on your first completion per character. So it's worth running at least 3 a week while you level up.

Plus the heroics have modifiers on them now making them a little more fun and easier/harder depending on the strike.

But yeah, 250 is absolutely high enough, especially with the matchmaking.

I'll probably run a couple tonight and just rely on match making. I wish the match making folks switched to voice channels, but oh well. LFG is basically one of 4 things these days: 42 PoE, KF or other Raid, Farming, or Nightfall Strikes.

Bungie has released a hotfix that supposedly fix the problem that caused them to cancel Trials and IB

IF it works - Trials will be back this weekend and IB will be next week

I tried to get on to run a strike last night, and the game ran the update patch. For the second update in a row, my PS4 refused to download it, so I had to uninstall and reinstall the game. If this keeps happening with update matches, my incentive to buy Rise of Iron is going to be very minimal.

Some of the changes I can grudgingly agree (a properly specced Nightstalker is crazy good in PvP) with and others were just stupid. 

Bungie nerfed Circle of Life.... a perk that no Gunslinger uses anyway and they nerfed Throwing Knife damage... for the class that has the worst close range melee attack..

It is like Bungie devs are doing their best to make sure that I never play this game ever again..

The graph they showed in the link I posted basically had Bladedancer and Gunslinger with significantly higher K/D ratios in Crucible than the other classes. Although, I'd be super angry if I played a lot of PVP and my main character/class was a Titan. Unless you played striker, you were getting the shaft there.

I think people do get too over-concerned with O/P in MMOs and Shooters. It still takes skill to have the advantage in both realms.

If you want real cheese and real irritation, go play a sports game online like Madden or FIFA in a non-Ultimate team setting. I got to the point with this last FIFA where I wish there was a setting to block against playing guys using Barca or Real Madrid.

They want you to play it their way

So anything that is "too popular" gets changed

Bladedancers have high K/Ds because people do not know how to fight them. I was always amazed by the number of players that would turn and run rather than shoot at me while I was Arc Blading. I am not sure what the fuck you are thinking but it obviously isn't about helping your team or winning since"

  1. I'm faster so you're not going to get away,  Running away just gives me free points.
  2. Not shooting me just keeps me in the fight longer allowing me to kill more of your friends and score more points.

Anyone in the path of a super is going to die anyway in PvP, so take the hit for the rest of your team by going after players when they are in mid-super.  Don't cause your team to bleed points by leaving an enemy player free to get free Triple Down and Merciless medals. 

If a player is winding up for a super, do your best to take his ass out.

Hunters got nerfed because Warlock and Titan players insist on doing dumb things and players continually whine because they think that nothing should be able to kill them.

When people finally started figuring out how to beat Sunbreakers, the running joke was how Sunbreaker Titan players wanted bullet damage to be nerfed because they were suddenly dying in droves in the Crucible.

Only Defenders were screwed and even that is questionable if you're dealing with a guy that is really good in general with PvP.. 

Sunbreakers were extremely effective in PvP and Stormcallers are ridiculous.  A Warlock with the right gear (The Ram or Obsidian Mind / Bad Juju) can be a fucking nightmare.

Good PvP players can create a good build out of nearly every sub-class.  Hunters are just easier to work with than others.  That doesn't make Hunters OP.

Yeah, decisions like these guaranteed make me glad I passed the torch to other Guardians so I can further whittle down my Pile of Shame.
