DVDVR Message Board

Banning question.

I honestly don't remember how I first came to the DVDVR.  It was like, two weeks before the Lance Storm thing happened, and I was lurking and going into the chat room a bit and hearing about this strange thing called puro and I was such an obnoxious shit.

I found DVDR boards because of the big book of moves

A couple years ago, Phil was posting google stats, and that was still one of the top two or three things bringing traffic to the site.  Poor, poor people looking for info on new moves.

I remember talking to a pretty cool dude at an 05 ROH show in Dayton who told me about DVDVR. I lurked basically daily because I was unable to register. I eventually forced Fowler to get someone to sign me up after I found his Facebook. I am sure he regrets this.

If I had known you were a St. Louis Cardinals fan, I would never have tried to get you approved.

If I'd known you were an Ohio State fan, I would never have accepted the friend request.

This thread has been a great trip down memory lane. I'm not even sure how long I've been around these parts, I go through lurking, posting, lurking, etc. periods but have been here 10+ years I know that. I was brought here via Scott Keith, he made a reference to the board I checked it out and once my eyes adjusted decided it wasn't bad like he implied and over time it just replaced all other wrestling sites for me. This place is a place where you can like whatever you like and most of the people just appreciate pro wrestling for what it is. I can honestly say I don't know if I'd still be watching/keeping up with wrestling if it wasn't for finding this board, it's a good place to get honest and various opinions.

It's been great remembering all the people, good and bad, that have been here before. I was wondering what ever happened to Winnepagen not to long ago and had forgotten all about the ridiculousness of KroneMeltzer or what ever his name was I'm not going back to check, he was a weird one.

I cannot remember for the life of me what drew me here but I know I made a fucking idiot out of myself exclusively in non-stick wrestling until that got canned. Then I discovered the board had other things, and I can make a fucking idiot out of myself on a much wider scale.

JSWO was an alright dude in person, you could just tell he had a little bit of money and that he was.....well taken care of. Didn't ever come across to me as a dude that had to work especially hard in his younger years. I heard he went to Israel for a bit and then started working for his dad's company and that took him away from wrestling for a bit. I don't really follow ROH all that much anymore, so I don't know if he is invested currently.

The only dude from the ROH boards I ever had an issue with was Folby, who threatened to fight me when I said I liked the Age of the Fall gimmick when we were sitting nect to each other at a final battle one time. He took wrestling seriously. 1000% serious.

I found this board after someone at Scotsman's site recommended it because I was looking for themes. I want to say this was 2003-ish. I didn't start posting semi-regularly until, IIRC 2005.

Oh, and to answer a question from earlier in this thread, Resident Evil did sadly delete his entire meltdown. I wish it was still here, because it was the biggest "WTF?" moment I have experienced here.

I remember finding The Other Arena first. That was an awful mistake. This is my home...my comfortable, contentious home.

Exactly. The Other Arena was like a board of Buzz Killingtons discussing wrestling. They mentioned here, I think, I check it out, and it's a bunch of dudes talking about how everything started going to shit after Mid-Atlantic Wrestling, and I said "I'm home~!"

Yeah. I don't remember what he said anymore, but it was seriously nuts. Not internet message board nuts, but seriously, seek mental health nuts.

Holy shit, I had forgotten about The Other Arena but I definitely lurked there before I found this board.

And I remember being equal parts confused and amused when the porn folder died.  Mostly because I was puzzled that anyone expected any different type of result of having a porn folder on the board.

Maybe I'm getting my board meltdowns mixed up, but was Resident Evil the guy who posted normal for a while and then started dropping odd religious/end of times statements at the end of his posts and then sort of spammed a bunch of crazy stuff before getting the ban hammer to the face?  Because that one always stood out to me.

I was another person who came here due to a Scott Keith comment  in one of his 411wrestling puro reviews.  I think somewhere I still have a box filled with all the printed out DVDVRs somewhere.

I think RE's meltdown was a combination of us finding out his Davey Richards worship extended into full on (DISCLAIMER) Benoit worship, and us slamming him for double standards because he hated Lawler because he "felt like a pervert", but totally excused (DISCLAIMER) Benoit's actions as a one off.

God, I remeber his "Has Davey Richards Made It?" thread to celebrate Richards winning the RoH title as if he just won the WWE Title at WrestleMania.  That was some quality shit.

I used to post occasionally in the Current Events folder, but yeah it seemed to degrade very quickly and all of a sudden it was gone.

The porn folder implosion was the best though.  I couldn't believe there was one to begin with when I signed up.   I think it was the tranny stuff that finally did it in, but I could be mistaken.

Non Stick Wrestling was kind of a mess too.

I think it's great that the demise of Gonzalez who was one of the worst, most disruptive trolls imaginable, in part because his gimmick wasn't just meant to flame people but instead leeched on to actual discussions like some sort of virus, has led to a kumbaya roundtable discussion of DVDVR and our history with it. I also like that people all have different memories and people they remember. The place is so broad that it encompasses almost any interest imaginable. It's hit a bunch of mine but also stuff that I'm not interested in all.

Since this has turned into a whatever happened to thread, whatever happened to Yakuza Rich? He was real active when I first started

I was shocked it took this long to mention Rich.

If you google search him you stumble across random posts of his across the internet - usually about the Cowboys (not surprisingly). Heck he was one of the like 4 people still posting on TOA as of like 2 years ago.

I do seem to recall him having some health issues too that might have contributed to his vanishing.

We will always have "Chris Simms - #7 Overall Draft Pick" though...

Yeah, if I remember correctly, you even said "seek help" or something like that to the guy...

I seem to remember that I was finally, fully home here after a discussion with an e-wrestling buddy about a debate at PuroresuPower (there's a flash back for ya) led the statement "You just need to hang at DVDVR."
