The Assassin's Creed Series

EVA

Running the fleet off the phone during the day and when I'm not playing is making it much easier to get the Jackdaw and the Hideout upgraded.

Now if I could consistantly beat Man-o-war's without taking a heavy pounding so I can send them to Fleet for the big missions, I'd be set.

Anybody know if there's a way to view your statistics? Like number of kills, number of air assassinations, time playing, and so on?

Gripes:

- it looks like fleet management on your phone doesn't count towards the challenges. I've fine dozens of successful missions on my phone but it still says I need to complete missions to finish the challenge.

- it told me I had discovered a white whale but it wasn't anywhere on the map. I need one more for the whaler outfit and don't want to buy it.

- there's a trophy for killing a dude while he's ringing an alarm bell. I shot a guy while he was doing that and didn't get the trophy. I had to run up and assassinate the guy to get the trophy. Since it specifically says kill, not assassinate, I found that annoying.

- I hate the treasure map stuff. Just saying.

So long as you beat them, who cares if you take a pounding? Send it to your fleet and move on. If you get sunk right after, so what? The Kerry with man o wars is to keep moving since you're so much faster than them. And try to stay in front or behind to avoid their cannons. Also, if you can skerries disable a lesser ship before fighting the man o war, you can board the lesser ship in the middle of combat to get a quick repair for the main fight.

My biggest problem with taking out Man-o-war's is I almost never find them alone, and I haven't really gotten down being able to fight with more than one ship at a time (well, more than one when one has 100 guns).  I can take Frigates with no problems though, so its just getting the pattern down.

Killing a white whale is a pain in the fucking arse if you haven't upgraded the whaling boat's armor fully.  And white whales seem to hit the "you or the community has found a white whale" before it ends up showing up on the map.

Yeah, white whales are pretty easy once you've upgraded everything.  I have way more trouble with great white sharks because of their mobility than I do white whales.

GRRRR...

After coming across, and defeating a level 60 man o war hunter ship, I made the climb to tear down the enemy flag.  When I couldn't climb any higher, I pressed to jump up to the next handhold.  Instead of doing that, Edward decided to leap to his death onto the deck below.  So much for adding that awesome ship to my fleet.  ARGH.

Oh, and screw you to the underwater missions.  The controls suck and being chased by a shark in an underwater boat whose attack you can't survive sucks.

And screw you to not being able to dig for treasures until you have the map.  I cleaned out an underwater smuggler's den but not before I have the treasure map.  So now I gotta do it again after I find the map.

GRRRR...

SO Assassin's Creed three was my first foree into the series and I found it kind of a choir to play after a while. My buddy recently got AC4 for his ps4 and ssaid it is better then 3. My question is should I cut my losses with 3 (I never beat it) and move on to 4?

For my whining about not being able to snag a Man-o-War, I go ahead and snag 2(!!!) lvl 55's last night.  Took out one in two hits, only because I caught it sleeping, (seriously, it was anchored off an island by itself with the sails down and everyone asleep).  Two direct mortar hits and boom.  The second one I managed to slide in a vulture off after it, being Spanish, ran afoul of a British one, with her escorts.  I made damn sure all my shots only hit the Spanish ship, and not the English ones.

My plundering exploits last night, along with a week of fleet actions have gotten me about every upgrade I can get for the Jackdaw without the Elite plans, which I need to start hunting for, after I push through some more story (I haven't gotten the diving bell yet)

I know, my trophies say I'm up to Sequence 11, but I restarted when I bought it to play through it more slowly and enjoy the side quests.

Finished up ACIII. Despite all I'd heard and read, I thought it was a good game. Probably the weakest in the franchise overall, but I don't get the flack it takes.

Rented IV from Redbox and yep...I'll be buying it at some point in the near future. First few hours are a blast.

I've made a lot of progress on AC4.  Still loving the heck out of the game.  And still constantly blown away by the depth, detail, and beauty of the world they've created for us to roam.

Some stuff:

- I've beaten all the underwater shipwrecks and smuggler's dens.  These are BY FAR my least favorite part of the game.  The controls on the swimming suck.  The near-constant attacks from sharks are annoying as heck.  The tips say to hide in the seaweed or inside the wrecks - but I've been detected and attacked many times doing exactly those things.  The attacks from moray eels are annoying.  "Listen for the hiss" it says.  I've probably heard the hiss once in all the times I've been attacked.  I get what they were going for with the wrecks, and I think including them was a fantastic addition and a truly necessary thing.  I just wish there were about 1/10th the number of sharks and much better/tighter controls.

- I've defeated one of the four legendary ships.  It was a complete cakewalk - and I didn't even have my ship fully upgraded.  Incredibly easy.  Man was I bummed when I didn't get to add it to my fleet!  Then I tried another ship (the one in the southwest that's invulnerable on its sides) and got decimated.  Repeatedly.

- Finally defeated a level 60 Man O War to add to my fleet.  Only now that I have it, I don't really need to manage my fleet anymore as I have pretty much every upgrade and don't need the money.

- Finished all the templar hunts and got the armor.  Like every other armor and weapon upgrade in every AC game ever, it basically does nothing.  I'm back to wearing the Ezio outfit instead.

- Got all the animus fragments and chests off the various islands (the "uncharted" stuff).  Fun but a little tedious.

- Working on knocking out all the treasure maps.  Don't like these at all.  They just don't click for me as being super-fun.

- Wish there was a way to pick which shanties your guys sang - or, rather, a way to block them from singing certain ones, instead of just having to constantly cycle through them to get to ones that don't suck.

- When will Ubisoft figure out that "Run" and "Free Run" should be different buttons?

- Thank you, Ubisoft, for making Edward walk at the same speed as the people he's supposed to be walking in a group with, unlike ever other lead character who walked too fast in previous games.

- Can we please - PLEASE - bring back the temple/church/cathedral puzzle climbs from AC2.  Those were so freaking well done and so freaking awesome.  Nothing in AC4 comes close to replicating that.

Anyway, yeah, great game.  Again, I ask:

Anybody know how to see your stats for the game, like kills and time played?  I'm dying to know mine...

I *think* you have to use the mobile app while playing.  I haven't tested it since I haven't had the app on while playing, but I see where it could be.

  • 2 weeks later...

The mobile app doesn't seem to give me the stats I want.

Fun little glitch that I've discovered late in the game:

One of my favorite things about the AC series is that all the cut scenes, all the pre-set animations, everything, is done on-the-fly and your costume and weapon changes are always reflected in them.  I love that the naval battle that was going on in the background when you left your ship is still going on when it zooms in for the close-up on you digging up a treasure chest.  And so on.  However...

I've acquired the Mayan armor that supposedly blocks metal projectiles.  Whatever.  It's just armor, though, not a robe, and features no hood.  I've been wearing that and twice now, the game has zoomed in on Edward "raising the hood of his robe" - only for there to be nothing there.  I find that really funny for some reason.  It just looks so ridiculous for Edward to be making the gesture with nothing there.

Oh yeah, I'm almost done with the story and am sitting at 92% sync.  As if I needed to be reminded of why I won't be going for 100%, I just completed a mission where one of the side objectives was to kill a particular target from within a haystack.  I played it like 5 times and never even saw a haystack, let alone one I could have killed him from.  I'm sure there is one but I sure didn't see it.  I'm tired of the BS objectives, half the time which you're not even told, and won't go for 100%.  I sure miss the days of AC2 where just completing the mission was enough.

Yeah, I agree on the optional objectives. I liked them when they were first introduced (back in Revelations, I think), but I'm officially over them. I guess it wouldn't be so bad if they were always made clear, but even still...These games are so huge now that there is enough other stuff to do that makes getting 100% an accomplishment, no optional objectives necessary.

Pretty sure it was Brotherhood.  Whichever one that had the Da Vinci tank in it.  That was the mission that ended my desire to get 100% on AC games for all time.  I got 99.5% sync with the only miss being the tank mission.  It's a super-long mission (15+ minutes) and you're required to take no damage through the whole thing in order to get 100% sync.  It's blatantly unfair, ridiculous and annoying.  Wouldn't be so bad if you could start from the middle like you can on other missions if you screw up but you can't.  So any little bit of damage it's back to the beginning and another 15 minutes to try the mission.  No thanks.

Finished with the story.  Way better than 3's.  Now I'm bouncing through other games to get a bit of a brake before I go back for the DLC and collectables.  I probably won't shoot for 100% synch though.

Finished the story. Had already finished all the side stuff except beating all of the legendary ships, which I finished doing tonight. Got all but three of the single player trophies and won't try for those.

All in all, an amazing game. Not as good as 2 but still really, really great and comfortably in my all-time top 10. I doubt I'll play the Aveline DLC. I'm kinda just ready to be done with the game and to move on to playing some PS3 stuff for awhile.

Pause Menu -> Database -> Statistics

I swear to God I looked in there at least 3 or 4 times and "Statistics" was not there but that's where they reside.

Uh-oh. UNITY is getting drilled in the reviews I've read so far. 7.8 from IGN, which isn't terrible I guess, but also not what you'd want from the first true next-gen AC game. Kotaku's review was incredibly harsh.

My copy is already out for delivery, so I guess I'm married to it for the moment, but I'm suddenly apprehensive about what I'm going to be getting when I pop it in after work tonight.
