Fat Spanish Waiter
Friends, I have a famous piece of classical music stuck in my head and I can't remember what it's from. It's upbeat, fast, sunny, maybe a morning song. Violins. Very famous. Not Vivaldi's 4 Seasons. Not Grieg's morning song either.
piranesi
Is it nature-ish, like Beethoven's "Pastoral" symphony?
Fat Spanish Waiter
No, it's far more up beat. I wish I could type it out somehow. I feel like it's from a ballet or something, opening act, kids playing that sort of thing. It's not the Nutcracker though.
Bustronaut
Whistle it into your phone and upload it to youtube for us to peruse. Is it the William Tell overture? The Downton Abbey theme? I've been trying to recall a classical piece for years that was on a classical compilation I got from the library when I was 12. All I know is it was hunting themed, and I can hum the main theme from the piece, but that doesn't do me any good.
Fat Spanish Waiter
More upbeat than William Tell. It's a legitimate and famous piece of classical music, not a score.
Bustronaut
Could it be Paganini's Violin Concerto #1? Perhaps Caprice 24, which I believe appears in every Sherlock Holmes adaptation at some point. http://youtu.be/_OKPUausH64
Fat Spanish Waiter
No far more upbeat. I feel like it's the opening number of a ballet or something.

Zheroen
You are most welcome. I often find myself in the same quandary when it comes to instrumental pieces, so I know how vexing it can be.
Fat Spanish Waiter
The problem for me is a total lack of education in the matter. I went through a "50 greatest classical music pieces" list to find this, recognised maybe 45 of them, and had barely any idea who composed it. Red is Dead
if it aint "the danse macabre" or "adagio for (with?) strings", i couldnt tell you who composed it. still love listening to classic fm on the morning commute though.
