pgi86
A more newsworthy W-1 show than usual so I figured I'd make a topic about it. Manabu Soya made his debut and is the new on-screen W-1 matchmaker (for the time being). Kazushi Miyamoto also made his debut and appears to be the new "gold and money" wrestler they had been advertising. The results: WRESTLE-1 "WRESTLE-1 SUNRISE TOUR 2014" (GAORA TV) January 12th, 2014 Tokyo Korakuen Hall 1,550 Fans - No Vacancy 1. Masayauki Kono, Ryouji Sai & Rene Dupree beat Kaz Hayashi, Shuji Kondo & Rob Terry (6:34) with a Running Knee by Kono on Hayashi. 2. Andy Wu beat MAZADA (5:50) with a Panda Choke. 3. Shu Shibutani beat Ryo Mizunami (6:07) with a Huracanrana. 4. Ryota Hama beat Kikutaro (6:12) with a Thunder Drop. 5. Hiroshi Yamato beat NOSAWA Rongai (2:25) with a Northern Light Bomb. 6. Masakatsu Funaki beat Yoshihiro Takayama (6:04) via TKO. 7. Kazushi Miyamoto beat Daiki Inaba (6:18) with a Million Dollar Driver. 8. Daisuke Sekimoto & Yuji Okabayashi beat Koji Kanemoto & Seiki Yoshioka (19:08) with a Powerbomb by Okabayashi on Yoshioka. 9. Seiya Sanada beat KAZMA SAKAMOTO (7:37) with a Rounding Body Press. 10. Masato Tanaka beat Yasufumi Nakanoue (13:16) with a Sliding D. 11. Minoru Tanaka beat KAI (18:33) with a HEAT Clutch. BrianS81177
I'm choosing to believe that Rob Terry's still in japan because TNA either can't or won't pay to fly him back to the states.
Kevin Wilson
That is odd that he has a random opening match and they don't have another show for a week. I am mostly interested to see what WRESTLE-1 comes up with for their upcoming Sumo Hall show. I don't think their "don't announce the line-ups in advance" thing will really work there and they better have something special planned or its going to be an embarrassment. BrianS81177
Is Masato Tanaka a full time roster member now?
pgi86
No. He's still a Zero1 guy who also wrestles in other promotions.
J.H.
Wow... I forgot Zero1 was even still in existence! James
Eivion
Kind of surprised to see Miyamoto pop up. Knew Soya would join when he left AJPW. His reasoning felt like unclear bullshit.
Control
Almost seems like they're just trying to deprive AJ of potential workers. Miyamoto is surprisingly resilient for such a non-talent,
Guest Edwin
Masakatsu Funaki beat Yoshihiro Takayama (6:04) via TKO. This sounds great no mater how short it is or how old, past their prime, unmotivated and lazy these 2 are now.

James Zero1 just had a show in what looks like someone's single car garage for their ring crew.

This sounds great no mater how short it is or how old, past their prime, unmotivated and lazy these 2 are now. They've been running this match on other shows over and over with the same finish and it hasn't been great. One of them's on DailyMotion or YouTube, I'm sure. I admittedly haven't been paying attention to wrestling since 2005 so I'm out of the loop and just coming back full circle so forgive my ignorance. Kevin Wilson
I posted one of them in the Matches folder, its from the event on 12/1. I think that's the only one that made tape.
Curt McGirt
I'd watch them go six minutes. What finish is the TKO again? Wasn't that Taiyo Kea's move?

They are MMA fighters, silly bean, it means he knocked him out. Probably with a kick of some sort.
Curt McGirt
Well, considering it's Japan, I could accept either possibility. But yeah... DUH.

I think that's the only one that made tape. This wasn't very good. Neither guy seemed to care and they were just going through the motions. Everything looked really weak even that knee that Takayama throws that's usually awesome. The NOSAWA ring apron ref. distraction lasted forever and wasn't very good. The finish was bad and the ring was really small. Yesh, this didn't work at all.
