two blue lights

one's the blue light of the late night bus
one's the blue light of the moon over us
one's got the diesel fuel on her breath
one's got the damp taste of the earth on it

two blue lights
there's a dead archer in the tower

you can't hear it but you can tell
when the bells ring twelve times in hell

the bells ring twelve times in this town as well

two blue lights

two blue lights

It counts because I was gonna post this yesterday but couldn't, because... REASONS.

I'm waiting in my cold cell, when the bell begins to chime
Reflecting on my past life and it doesn't have much time
'Cause at 5 O'clock they take me to the gallows pole,
The sands of time for me are running low, running low

When the priest comes to read me the last rites
Take a look through the bars at the last sights
Of a world that has gone very wrong for me

Can it be that there's some sort of error
Hard to stop the surmounting terror
Is it really the end, not some crazy dream?

Somebody please tell me that I'm dreaming
It's not easy to stop from screaming
But words escape me when I try to speak

Tears fall but why am I crying
After all I'm not afraid of dying
Don't I believe that there never is an end

As the guards march me out to the courtyard
Somebody cries from a cell, 'God be with you'
If there's a God then why has He let me go?

As I walk my life drifts before me
Though the end is near I'm not sorry
Catch my soul, it's willing to fly away

Mark my words, believe my soul lives on
Don't worry now that I have gone
Gone beyond to seek the truth, yeah, yeah

When you know that your time is close at hand
Maybe then you'll begin to understand
Life down here is just a strange illusion

Yeah, hallowed be thy name
Yeah, hallowed be thy name
Yeah.

its finals week so

It's been hard doing anything
winter stuck around so long
I kept trying anyhow and I'm still trying now
just to keep working
I remember when it didn't use to be so hard
this used to be impossible
A new season has to begin
I can feel it leaning in whispering "Nothing's lonely now"
Nothing anymore in pain

A tall shadow dressed how secrets always dress
when they want everyone to know that they're around
leaning in whispering "my friend over there
don't know what he's talking about"
Did you really believe
that everyone makes it out?
Almost no one makes it out

I'm going to use that street to hide
from that human doubt
to hide from what was shining
and has finally burned us out
But if no one makes it out
How come you're talking to one right now
for once almost was good enough

What is it to take care of yourself?
Getting paid? Getting laid?
Getting married? Getting pregnant?
Fighting for visibility in your market?
Realizing your potential?
Being healthy? Being clean?
Not making a fool of yourself?
Not hurting yourself?
Shaving in all the right places?
What am I taking care of?
I'm lying in our bed
unable to sleep
Reaching a state
of absolute dependence
in a restless half dream

Like the jam without a spoon
And I grab my cunt
With my hand that isn't clean
Am I loving myself now?
Am I mothering myself?
Am I taking care of myself now?
I imagine you doing the same
Holding onto to your soft dick
It lies in the hand where it dares stay soft
It lies in the hand where it dares stay soft
Could I be that for you?
Could I be that for you?
A cupping hand on your soft dick
Can I give you that
That which sometimes expects nothing
Accepting restlessness
Accepting no direction
Accepting this fearful wanting that isn't desire
That going nowhere?
A warm place
Can we go there?
We don't have to fuck, can we just lie here being?
I give you this hand, I give you this hand...

some big time camera whoring

I like to see you boogie right across the floor
I like to do it to you till you holla for more
I like to reggae but you dance too fast for me
I'd like to make love to you so you can make me scream

So boogie on reggae woman, what is wrong with me?
Boogie on reggae woman, baby can't you see?

I'd like to see both of us fall deeply in love
I'd like to see you under, under the stars above, yes I would
I'd like to see both of us fall deeply in love, yeah
I'd like to see you in the raw under the stars above

So boogie on reggae woman, what is wrong with you?
Boogie on reggae woman, what you tryin' to do?

Can I play? Can I play?

Boogie on reggae woman, what is wrong with you?
Boogie on reggae woman, what you tryin' to do?

What's going on
Can you correct my vision?
Helping my decision

What's going on
If you know what I'm meanin'
You won't find me kneeling

Should I be standing on a chair?
My hands are waving in the air
You know as well as I do now
I'm going to get to you somehow

What's going on
Everyone acts crazy
Yes or no means maybe

What's going on
Can you correct my vision?
Helping my decision

Tear drops on the city

Bad scooter searching for his groove

Seem like the whole world walking pretty

And you can't find the room to move

Well everybody better move over, that's all

I'm running on the bad side

And I got my back to the wall

Tenth avenue freeze-out, tenth avenue freeze-out

I'm stranded in the jungle

Taking all the heat they was giving

The night is dark but the sidewalks bright

And lined with the light of the living

From a tenement window a transistor blasts

Turn around the corner things got real quiet real fast

She hit me with a tenth avenue freeze-out

Tenth avenue freeze-out

And I'm all alone, I'm all alone

And kid you better get the picture

And I'm on my own, I'm on my own

And I can't go home

When the change was made uptown

And the big man joined the band

From the coastline to the city

All the little pretties raise their hands

I'm gonna sit back right easy and laugh

When scooter and the big man bust this city in half

With a tenth avenue freeze-out, tenth avenue freeze-out

Tenth avenue freeze-out...

I get up in the evening
And I ain't got nothing to say
I come home in the morning
I go to bed feeling the same way
I ain't nothing but tired
Man I'm just tired and bored with myself
Hey there baby, I could use just a little help

You can't start a fire
You can't start a fire without a spark
This gun's for hire
Even if we're just dancing in the dark

Message keeps getting clearer
Radio's on and I'm moving 'round the place
I check my look in the mirror
I want to change my clothes, my hair, my face
Man I ain't getting nowhere
I'm just living in a dump like this
There's something happening somewhere
Baby I just know that there is

You can't start a fire
You can't start a fire without a spark
This gun's for hire
Even if we're just dancing in the dark

You sit around getting older
There's a joke here somewhere and it's on me
I'll shake this world off my shoulders
Come on baby this laugh's on me

Stay on the streets of this town
And they'll be carving you up alright
They say you gotta stay hungry
Hey baby I'm just about starving tonight
I'm dying for some action
I'm sick of sitting 'round here trying to write this book
I need a love reaction
Come on now baby gimme just one look

You can't start a fire sitting 'round crying over a broken heart
This gun's for hire
Even if we're just dancing in the dark
You can't start a fire worrying about your little world falling apart
This gun's for hire
Even if we're just dancing in the dark
Even if we're just dancing in the dark
Even if we're just dancing in the dark
Even if we're just dancing in the dark
Hey baby

A little background: the first time I heard that song was the first time my mom put pop/rock radio on in the car instead of country, having decided my brother and I were old enough now. (Other songs I remember hearing that day are Huey Lewis and the News's "The Heart of Rock and Roll" and Queen's "Another One Bites the Dust")  When I was 7, I loved it mostly because of the synth line. Now, 30+ years later, I can identify a lot more strongly with the song as a whole.
