JLSigman Posted June 26, 2024 Posted June 26, 2024 48 hour maintenance started this morning for FF XIV: Dawntrail, and people are saying you can already download and patch. I'll wait until tomorrow evening, just in case.

NoFistsJustFlips Posted August 10, 2024 Posted August 10, 2024 I beat Rebirth on June 11th. Basically all of my time since then gaming has been sunk into beating all of the combat challenges. Fuckkkkk that Bonds of Friendship one with Zack. It took me literally 2 months to beat. I had the optimized setup and watched about 100 videos. And still just couldn't beat Odin in the 10th battle. But fucking finallyyyy did it. Then did the last challenge, basically the same 10 fights just with Sephiroth instead of Zack, and boom beat that one on the first try. Finally done with all the combat challenges. I want to say the last couple in Remake were harder. But none of those took 2 months to beat. Now just gotta mop up hard mode, a few more collectables, and the god damn piano bullshits and the platinum is mine. Currently at 190 hours total (does not accurately account for time spent in the game tho due to rage quits). 250 - 275 will probably be my number when all is said and done. Definitely got my money's worth outta this one.
JLSigman Posted August 19, 2024 Posted August 19, 2024 Final Fantasy XVI, with both DLCs, will be releasing on Steam September 17th. There is also a demo so you can see if your computer can handle it.
NoFistsJustFlips Posted November 8, 2024 Posted November 8, 2024 (edited) Finally snagged that platinum trophy for Rebirth. Had the game and combat beat for a bit and had to grind out the last few Johnny gimmicks. The piano deals took forever. The situp game took forever. The last glide de chocobo took foreverrrr. But I am finally done. To fill the gap until part 3 comes out maybe I'll jump back into crisis core and try to 100% that. And the original. But the stupid Barrett date achievement takes forever to get. Edited November 8, 2024 by NoFistsJustFlips 1
J.T. Posted November 14, 2024 Posted November 14, 2024 I am getting the Pixel Remaster for myself and my brother for Christmas. We are old men. We will both die before we finish the entire collection. 1

Chaos Posted January 10 Author Posted January 10 One of my goals this year is to spend my limited gaming time focusing more on backlog and single-player experiences (my limited time tends to end up going to sports games, wwe 2k, or the occasional games as a service venture). That means a lot of games that I've partially started may have to go back to the beginning because I remember nothing. I'm almost 5 years into my FF7 Remake playthrough of starts and stops (bought it at launch) with significant progress made through some of last year before stopping again. I'm finishing up a couple of sidequests in chapter 14 before moving on to the final linear stretch of the game and then jumping into Integrade. One thing I've noticed is that some of the trophies never triggered (like defeating a summon). I'm not sure if that's a glitch from upgrading or what. I also am not sure if I missed one of the Johnny events because I finished his last piece and it didn't trigger.
Chaos Posted January 16 Author Posted January 16 I'm up to Chapter 17 now. I thought I could power through that before bed last night and then touch the ending today or over the weekend. I got through most of the platform puzzle stuff and figured I was heading into one boss fight. Once I looked up how much longer I had, it was in my best interest to pause for the evening. The upcoming boss fights in this chapter seem like a doozy. I also probably should be better leveled and have better stats than I do. (between levels 36-37 and don't have the defense stats needed). I've been opting to max out material slots in gear when getting the upgrade points.
NoFistsJustFlips Posted April 26 Posted April 26 Went back and got that weird Barrett date achievement in OG FF7 and platnumed it. Didn't end up being as cumbersome as I expected. With the no random encounters and limit breaks always on deals went by pretty fast. I know that's not really worth of a bump of this thread. Main reason I did it is because (while I know it has no shot in hell at happening), I had to get the idea of a remake sequel trilogy out of my head. So we got Crisis Core as a prequel. Then there's the remake trilogy. Id love if they followed that up with Advent Children the game. Then a remade / remixed Derge of Cerberus game. They'd have to retool it to be action RPG and not a FPS I would think. But then to close out the FF7 compilation you do one true sequel game that concludes the whole story. There's a cut scene at the ende if Derge where Genesis comes back and Flys away with Weiss. Theres definitely a story to be told with that. A new story from scratch. Imagine the first true new FF7 content coming at the end of a seven game arc. I also love the symmetry of FF7 being a seven game AAA series. Just putting it out in the universe. Maybe the Square Enix CEO has someone creep the board like Tony Khan does lol. 1
Raziel Posted April 27 Posted April 27 Given that the bad guys from Dierge showed up in Intermission as Yuffie's bad guys, Im guessing a bunch of the original Yutai stuff is scrapped (since it was skipped over in Rebirth) and they'll give Yuffie and Vincent the Deepground guys as their side quest in the 3rd game. If the story of the Remake trilogy is going where I think it's going, Advent Children isn't going to be a thing. 1
NoFistsJustFlips Posted April 27 Posted April 27 I felt like Nero in Intermission was just an introduction. Especially since he consumes Sonan's soul or whatever and briefly appears as Yuffie's biggest fear in her Rebirth trial. Weiss they didn't even have in the game, just a post game combat sim fight. There's already so much to fit into part 3. I know they'll expand upon Vincent's backstory and Wutai will have a larger presence. But I don't think they get into covering much of Dirge. It was only a 10 hour game or whatever, so I guess its possible. But that would shift timeline stuff around quite a bit, with all that happening after the conclusion of OG & Advent Children. I just think the three games in this series released so far have been very successful. Crisis Core did over 2 million units, Remake at about 7 million units, and Rebirth speculated to have done 4 million units on PS5 alone plus now whatever they've moved on PC. And the games have been critically very well received. Compare that to the last mainline FF game doing about 3.5 million, seems like FF7 is a more bankable brand than Final Fantasy it's self. Not advocating for mainline FF games to go away or anything. But there's definitely a market to continue this series if done with some foresight. I don't think the remake trilogy ends any other way than as a lead in for Advent Children. I know the game seems like threes a lot of meta shit happening and Sephiroth seemingly from the post Advent timeline. But I think they'll get crucified if the story ends too off course. You do a modified and expanded AC game with Kadaj, Loz, and Yazoo as the big bads. Leading to a reborn Sephiroth finale where he is vanquished again. Then a modified and expanded Dirge game, with Nero & Weiss as your big bads. That ends with Nero's demise and Weiss escaping to be saved by Genesis. Then it's almost like the MCU leading into the Infinity series. You have 6 games retelling the story you already knew leading into the big final 7th game of all new material where an unleashed Weiss & Genesis are the big bads. Or you could even find a way to bring all the villains back and do a mega team up with Genesis, Nero, Weiss, Kadaj, Loz, Yazoo, & Sephiroth. The sinister 7 in a way lol. Shinra is ultimately defeated for good in the end. All the villains are destroyed and expelled from the lifestream. The planet is totally restored and saved. Total happy ending for all characters left. It's a pipe dream. But just a brain worm kinda thing where I really just had to get it outta my head.
Raziel Posted April 27 Posted April 27 I get where you're going, but between this Sepiroth likely being the post-AC Sepitroth that refuses to die and the devs saying that Re-whatever is going to also have Crisis Core, Dierge, and AC stuff involved, I can't see 3 ending with anything other than finally putting Sepiroth down for good forever which would remove everything Geostigma and the last 3 clones rebirthing him for one last showdown with Cloud from AC ever happening. Which can be ok if you think of the Remake trilogy as a sequel series and not a do-over. 1

I guess viewing Cloud/Sephiroth as a Neo/Mr. Smith pairing or even that canonically the MKverse keeps rebooting itself over and over again, then it might actually reframe this new trilogy for me, which I haven't started Rebrith yet past the NIbelheim prologue (I went back to being 10-11 years old playing through that sequence) and still need to finish Integrade. 1
