WCW C-SHOWS MEMORIES

RIPPA

Recommended Posts

We hinted at this in the Kaz Hayashi vs. Raven match - that we probably need to have a thread to discussion our love of the WCW C-Shows (or Syndie Shows if you will). Basically anything that wasn't Nitro, Thunder, Clashes or PPVs.

Happily Dailymotion has Yuji Nagata vs. Steve Regal (Which is definitely in my Top 5 Favorite Matches from these shows)

The whole Team New Japan doing these matches are what is the best.

I will have to upload Koji Kanemoto vs. one of the Armstrongs (I wanna say Steve but I am totally blanking right now)

I have never been able to find the Jushin Liger vs. Barry Houston bumpfest on the Youtubes. The head drop Barry takes on the FISHMENBUSTAH and the death sell are fucking epic.

Ricky Morton vs. Bobby Eaton~!

DUTCH MANTELL ON COMMENTARY~!

The best part is when Dutch calls Schiavone out on his "Hey, that's a modified [insert name of move]" bullshit match calling and just point blank says, "Hey, Tony.  What's that move called?"

Look in the Barry Houston Wrestler of the Day thread - someone found a version of it on a non-Youtube, non-Dailymotion site.

And I planned on uploading it when I got to work but since I am on sick kid duty - that went out the window

I hope this thread goes for 500 pages.

THIS battle royal is a great example of the lower card tag team division WCW had that really really really necessitated bringing back the US tag team belts. Even I forgot the Frankie Lancaster-Mark Starr red tights team (obviously Regal and Storm stole their gear when they had their tag run). Plus the Barrio Brothers AND division staples The State Patrol. Plus, Dusty always had a love for Nasty Ned that made me feel if he had the book, Ned would have been a solid TV champion

Unfortunately, the bizarro match against Emilio Charles Jr where he was dubbed Lizmark Jr throughout the match doesn't appear to be online anywhere.

But the other of Atlantis' adventures in Worldwide was:

Disappointingly, Dean Malenko turning Evan Karagias into a human semi-circle with the Cloverleaf on WCWSN isn't there either.

Wouldn't Saturday Night be considered an A show before Nitro and the C show after Thunder was introduced?

Yes - and I think for the purposes of this thread we all understand that distinction.

Not that the original Sat Night didn't have its share of weird fucking matches too.

Without much thought at all - I think my Top 5 matches would be

1) Yuji Nagata vs. Steve Regal

2) Kaz Hayashi vs. Raven

3) Jushin Liger vs. Barry Houston

4) Fit Finlay vs. Barry Houston

5) Fit Finlay vs. Lorenzo

Maybe the random Youtuber was LORENZO!!!! :)

WCW was the IWRG of their era were they'd just bring out random dudes for a few matches and we'd never hear from them again. Guys like Lorenzo, Dave Burkhead, Adrian Byrd, etc....And the Colorado Kid. He even showed up a few times in the mid-90s.

Somewhere out there is a Giant promo from one of the C shows where he rebutted Hogan calling him the big sweaty stinky Giant. One of the greatest lines ever. "Hogan, I'm the United States heavyweight champion, I got the keys to the Playboy mansion, and I smell FABULOUS."

I do not think this is currently on Youtube, so I have to link it from elsewhere.

Just... just watch this. It's wonderful.

This might be the greatest ending to a show ever.

Insane Dusty commentary? Check.

WCW jobbers Pier 6 brawl outside the ring?  Check.

The Giant SPANKING Eddie Guerrero?  Check.

Thank you for that.

stuff I posted in another thread

The Amazing French Canadians v. Doc Dean/Robbie Brookside - 1997 Worldwide. Parker's in a French Foreign Legion outfit, isn't he? amazing nobody ever convinced Vince to cast Parker as a fake Ted Turner instead of Tennessee Lee.

Meiko Satumura v. Malia Hosaka - one of Satumura's random WCW television matches.

Vincent v. Lizmark Jr - Because why not?

And stuff that I didn't link

Bobby Eaton v. Greg Valentine - The ideal WCW C-Show match where you don't really know who'd win between Eaton and Valentine.

Juvy, Psicosis and Lizmark Jr v. Villano IV, Galaxy and Ciclope - Watch as Schiavone gets confused and a 3 minute lucha sprint erupts

And Akira Hokuto/Kaoru v. Madusa/Meiko Satumura - nice work Madusa! way to be a teammate! awesome "heel holds face-in-peril's arm out towards the other face to tease a tag" spot though. Maybe comparing Japanese women's wrestlers to female tennis players was more fitting than Tony ever knew.

Don't worry, Lyger/Houston is coming soon. Although the Uploader might have to continually pass copyright classes to keep uploading content because he's one of those over-aggressive uploaders who'll get zapped soon enough

The random posting of bizarre WCW matches from their less publicized shows: I'm in. I did watch a lot of this stuff back in the day. If I had a time machine I'd tell past self to tape all of this. At least there are many videos out there which bring back memories.

Here is the aforementioned Liger vs. Garvin contest.

High Voltage vs Villano IV and Super Calo

Liger vs. Silver King in the last days of Worldwide

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TIXGId8oa7s

La Parka and Silver King vs. Curly Bill and Kendall Windham? Why not?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W7A7rbaAodY

El Dandy vs. Blacktop Bully

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BuwT9hgQhdM

And finally, because it's two of our favorites and I have no memory of this match at all, Dandy vs. Fit Finlay
