RazorbladeKiss87 Posted June 2 Posted June 2 Heard that Powerman 5000 song so much during my THPS2 playthroughs that I still know every dumb lyric.
Curt McGirt Posted June 3 Posted June 3 I've told this story before on here probably, but: Rob Zombie was hosting the new Headbanger's Ball on MTV over a decade ago and his brother, the Powerman dude, was a guest. Lemmy from Motorhead came up in conversation and Rob said something snide about him. The brother was like "Dude... that's Lemmy you're talking about." They went to commercial, came back and Rob apologized to the audience. They fired him. 1
RazorbladeKiss87 Posted June 3 Posted June 3 Was that before Jasta's run on Headbanger's Ball? I don't remember the timeline on that.

It's not the album that song is from, but I really like their Transform album. They kind of went generic alt/hard rock, but it worked. But I haven't listened to anything else from them in over 20 years, was kinda shocked to find out they released an album last year. Uhhhhh anyway, is this card even any good? I'm not familiar with the AAA talent, but it seems pretty heavy on NXT and lower tier main roster talent. I've read online that the women's tag match won't be good because Dalys is kinda ass apparently. I'm kinda bummed it's not main roster WWE versus AAA. It'd be like if AEW decided to run Arena Mexico but make it a ROH versus CMLL card - I'd be disappointed. Also, I like Chad Gable and all, but, like.... man, they're really pushing him, huh? A ringside ticket (well, a seat behind the front row) facing the hard cam is almost $700. I can't imagine someone paying that much money to see a Chad Gable main event but I guess people are. A resale ticket for the row behind that is $1300 (lol) and a few seats over is just $600. Insanity. 1
RazorbladeKiss87 Posted June 3 Posted June 3 At least for me, this is a two match card. The 4 way should have a lot of crazy spots. As a cohesive match, I doubt it works, but as an exhibition of guys doing wild stuff, it'll rock. The main should be really good but after hearing EGA is in the MitB match, who knows how hard he'll go against Vikingo. I'll probably just cherry pick those and call it a night. Maybe the WWE guys and production can help curb some of the AAA problems. At the very least it'll be a tighter show than the recent AAA I've watched.
Curt McGirt Posted June 3 Posted June 3 This had to be around the time I moved to Champaign so I would say, 2003? I forgot all about Jasta hosting, but then I didn't watch much because... well, it wasn't good. I'd really rather watch Metal Mayhem because at least I might see a Saxon video. They seem to have moved away from their "all Cinderella videos all the time" phase. There is also an MTV2 metal show called Metal Thrashing Mad that is all new stuff and is not thrashing.

I never watched the MTV2 metal shows, I was a dedicated Uranium fan (because Juliya Chernetsky, and then the music). Fuse in general was just way better than anything either of the MTV channels was doing, it was actually about the music (until it wasn't). 1
Dolfan in NYC Posted June 3 Author Posted June 3 WWE/AAA are bringing in, for some reason, Savio Vega for this show.
Curt McGirt Posted June 3 Posted June 3 Juliya was a total poseur, but... yeah. Savio needs to be either A. a Puerto Rican super heel like Pierroth, or B. TNT again. Do some karate, twirl some nunchucks, blow some fire. 1
Curt McGirt Posted June 3 Posted June 3 The other day I found a clip from a Globe of Death match he had (in the round metal thing that dirt bike riders do tricks in), him and his opponent went to the top, and he blew a fireball that was easily the size of a person on this guy, who slid into a vertical fall down the side. It's incredible. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/jjsISpwXmeo 1

I wonder if they are expecting to do big business with the Spanish Language audience from the AAA talent. Also I feel we have this Headbangers Ball v Uranium conversation verbatim every couple of months 2

RazorbladeKiss87 Posted June 4 Posted June 4 You mean you don't think of the epic confrontation between Tommy Dreamer and the Rockin' Rebel????? I remember getting ECW When Worlds Collide 1994 and being very underwhelmed. I wish the 1996 edition had been released because it looks good on paper.
Curt McGirt Posted June 4 Posted June 4 Funny, this was one of Paul E.'s lawsuits where he got WCW to give him talent over them using the name of his event. He took Sullivan, Austin, and Sherri.
just drew Posted June 7 Posted June 7 Damn. I’m torn between my love of Lucha and my hatred of WWE. I want to watch this show, but I don’t want to cast a “yes” vote with my viewership… 1

odessasteps Posted June 7 Posted June 7 (edited) Well, any interest I might have had left when I just heard Konnan was one of the announcers. Edited June 7 by odessasteps 2
hammerva Posted June 7 Posted June 7 Spoiler Given that JBL is supposed to show up tonight, I have a feeling whatever El Grande Americano does is going to be extremely offensive to most and great fun for TKO office
Curt McGirt Posted June 7 Posted June 7 Yeah. If Max doesn't do "the swim" in CMLL then Gable might here
Cobra Commander Posted June 7 Posted June 7 Konnan commentated like your dad attending a baseball game dropping comments in on the action he's seeing 4
