It's become clear to me at least, that WWE is counter-programming their competition hard.  They even named a premium live event after one of the other company's top stars!

LIVE FROM LOS ANGELES (OF INGLEWOOD)!  ITS MONÉ IN THE BANK~!

THE CARD~

MEN'S MONEY IN THE BANK LADDER MATCH - Solo Sikoa vs. Penta vs. LA Knight vs. Seth Rollins vs. Andrade vs. TBD

WOMEN'S MONEY IN THE BANK LADDER MATCH - Alexa Bliss vs. Roxanne Perez vs. Rhea Ripley vs. Giulia vs. Naomi vs. Stephanie Vaquer

LAST CHANCE MATCH FOR THE WOMEN'S INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP - Lyra Valkyria (c) vs. Becky Lynch

John Cena & Logan Paul vs. Cody Rhodes & Jey Uso

---

† - If Becky Lynch wins, Lyra must raise her hand as the better woman.

Well I guess R Truth still has some days left on his contract and will use them.  Unless they completely worked everyone on his release

I am not sure if we can say that the streak of women's MITB match being better than the men's one is over.    The men's one was very good but man I hope this ECW level of booking with tons of interference isn't a trend.

The fact that Cole spun a completely different narrative on commentary than what Truth tweeted should make it quite clear that this was not a work. I guess we’ll see if they actually re-upped him or if they’re just going to give him a more fitting send-off with whatever time is left on his contract.

I kinda hope it’s the latter. Otherwise it’s a good news/bad news type of deal for whichever poor soul gets made redundant in his place.

Main event was, unsurprisingly, pretty bad. Paul turning into CM Punk doing the Buckshot all the sudden really makes you appreciate how Hangman nails it flawlessly every time. Never a doubt.

PW Insider says it was not a work.  They brought Truth back after all the backlash.  We'll see.  I'm glad he's back but I'm not ready to give management any type of credit over it.

Of course it's not a work. What if there had been no fan backlash at all to his release and then he randomly shows up in the main event to confused crickets?

It was a fun show with a surprisingly very hot crowd. Thought the women's MITB was a bit dull tbh but the men's (while insanely overbooked) was a ton of fun.

Women's MITB was my fav, having a lot of my favorite talents in there helped. Men's MITB was fine, but just eye rolling when the interference took over and then they went the dull predictable route with it too.

Knowing Becky was winning since Lyra wouldn't win twice in a row was taking me out of the first half of their match, but ended up liking it a lot by the end. Actually enjoyed the double countout tease.

Fun surprise return for Truth, didn't see that coming.  Triple H laughing off the Truth stuff as "All part of the show! enjoy the show" is hilarious

Nice to see up and comers Becky and Seth get the kickstart their careers needed.

And Naomi, the 14 year WWE veteran who is also a two time Women’s champion.

Should’ve been LA Knight and Stephanie Vaquer but what do I know.

If it turns out WWE let Truth go and then ended up giving him a raise to come back just to keep him from AEW BWAHAHAHAAahahhaha

all part of the show..... 😄

edit*

actually, you know what.....I just thought about it and it's possible WWE could have astroturfed the whole "JUSTICE FOR TRUTH" movement via social media and plants in the crowd.  their audience seems more pliable and easily coerced than ever, maybe I wasn't giving them enough credit........

because on the surface it being a work makes no fucking sense.  and even astroturfing it doesn't really make sense, because why?  feels more Matt Hardy

The main reason I don't think its a work, besides all the reports and general common sense, is Carlito and Valhalla were released/not renewed last week also. It would be beyond cruel, even by WWE standards, to "fake release" one wrestler and real release two other wrestlers at the same time, and not tell the dozens of other wrestlers/personalities that went online to say how sad they were about Truth to trick them too. I'm curious to see if this is a long term or short term pivot but I was happy to see Truth back.

The MITB matches are always interesting as the men usually do *more* (more fun spots, more dangerous spots, more mouse trap spots) but the women's match was more unpredictable and at times chaotic, plus it didn't have the interference. I probably enjoyed parts of the men's better but as an overall package preferred the women's. Not that it makes me some incredible psychic but I did guess all the match results right, but a swerve just to do a swerve isn't a good idea and heels with briefcases is easier to book. The main event wasn't good but I did enjoy the drone spot and Truth's return so it wasn't a waste either.

Well that certainly was *one way* to pull the trigger on the Jacob Fatu face turn - in the middle of a clusterfuck ladder match he wasn't even a part of

Have to assume Lyra is winning the blow off at Summerslam vs Lynch, which would actually be a good job at making a new star in the division. However if she loses again... total opposite

Can we all agree the current main event picture for this company is a total snore right now?

Seth Rollins as a MITB-holding faction-leading top heel feels like someone got ChatGPT to do the booking

Women's MITB was a good, chaotic mess that left most everyone looking good. Dug how this was done specifically so the NXT callups would get the big showcase while still giving Rhea and Alexa their bigs moments. Was good with Naomi winning this one. This is a good way to get her current character in the title picture. You can buy her winning or losing either way as well so whenever the cash in happens it should be exciting. Vaquer, Roxanne, and Giulia didn't necessarily need this yet. honestly Vaquer is already such a star WWE would probably be better off giving her Queen of the Ring or the Rumble.

Dom/Octagon was a fun showcase for Octagon Jr. but not much more.

Becky/Lyra was probably MOTN for me. Dug Lyra starting off fired up before the bell even rang and the tension never really died down. Becky getting the cheap win with the post match angle seeing her arrogance blow up in her face felt like the right move here. Even losing the title Lyra got a big moment and showed tons of passion here. Hopefully if there a rematch Lyra wins the title back. While Becky as champ wouldn't be bad idea I feel like the coming feud with Bayley doesn't need the belt per say. Also feels Lyra only leaves this a made woman with a strong win in the overall feud. Maybe they go 2/3 falls or Ironwoman at Evolution?

Men's MITB had a similar nice chaotic feel going on like the women's match did and was probably a bit cleaner execution wise. Still the the women's match came off stronger, especially since it didn't have the overdone and too long story bits going on with Seth's group and Jacob's turn. It kind of slowed the match down to a crawl even if it made sense and worked well enough for the crowd.

Jey/Cody vs. Cena/Logan had its moments, but could have easily been better with five minutes shaved off. Still the Truth surprise return was nice to see. Guessing it was the original plan before the lack of contract renewal. I don't buy that it was a work in the slightest. I just think the reaction from the crowd and more than likely backstage was strong enough for them to relent.

The IC title match and MITB matches delivered even with some complaints here and there. Dom/Octagon was fun filler. Main event was nothing special, but it was mostly what it needed to be and ended the show on a high note. Good show. Probably enjoyed Worlds Collide more though the women's matches here probably won the day for me.

I tuned into this right when the Dangerous Alliance guys were doing their run, err, saunter-in. That closing stretch felt more like a series of segments stapled together that happened to end with a bell ringing than an actual wrestling match. No one projected any sense of urgency about getting the belt and winning the match. Can’t judge the whole match, but that ending was super anti-climactic.

But not nearly as anti-climactic as the main event, which was one of the worst headlining tag matches that I can recall from recent history. The LONG heat on Jey was a total snooze, and it “built” (using that term loosely) to one of the worst hot tags I’ve ever seen. Like someone slowly letting all the air out of a balloon.

If Truth hadn’t returned, I think more of the conversation would be centered on yet another absolute stinker main event from this Cena heel run.

100% snoozefest, give me Bloodline shenanigans over this any day as repetitive and all as it was.

I don't care if it's a work or not because the initial outcry was fucking stupid anyway.

"Oh no, WWE has told a 53-year-old millionaire that he doesn't have to come into work every day any more!

...after giving him a World Title match main event in a PLE as a send-off!

...knowing that he could easily get another big bag from the competition if he so chose!

...or that he could simply sign a Legends deal, come back sporadically, and semi-retire into the convention circuit!

...what a goddamn tragedy!"

Seth Rollins as Mr Money in the Bank again brings back bad memories of 2014-2015. Fuck.

Happy to see R Truth back after the rightful backlash of his release. Monster pop.

Haven't watched the show. Not sure I will tbh.

I'm really happy Naomi got her win after 5 MITB matches, but im calling her being the first person on the women's side to fail a cash-in.  It's unfortunate and i don't want it to happen, but someone has to be first and i can see them making it be her.

I'm about as tired of Rollins as I am of Punk and i can't wait for them to feud....again....over the belt in a few months after Rollins cashes in.  I'm already checking out on WWE as a whole again, as the shows have been getting worse and worse as of late, but this didn't help.

That being said, i don't care how it happens, i want Truth to get a pinfall over Cena.  throw in a day title reign?  even better.

I guess one new wrinkle to Rollins winning is that this is the first time we’ve seen a heel backed by a stable of killer heavies with MITB. Rollins was aligned with the Authority his first go-round, but Jamie Noble and Joey Matthews vs. Bron and Bronson is very coughing baby vs. nuclear bomb. Ostensibly, that should make this a rather short MITB run, as he should be able to press that button and easily win whenever he wants.

Nice moment for Naomi and it actually makes the most sense for her to win as none of the others really needed it. It benefits her new character far more.

I dug Becky/Lyra. I like that Becky had to cheat to win and that all of her arrogance ended up getting her taken out post match. Would love to see this program continue but, with the way Becky was going after Naomi during the post match press interviews, I'm wondering.
