🎼 Some of those that work forces... Are the same that burn crosses. Some of those that work forces... Are the same that burn crosses!

Well Backlash is now in the books and The John Cena Heel (?) Experience rolls on!Β  Randy Orton was unsuccessful in his bid to win his 15th world title, thanks to some Truth-terference.Β  But NOT before he gave us his new role as WWE food critic:

Β

πŸ‘πŸΏΒ And now you do what they told ya... And now you do what they told ya... But now you do what they told ya... Well now you do what they told ya!

Meanwhile, Lyra Valkyria used the dreaded Irish rollup to defeat The Man and retain her Intercontinental Championship.Β  Though I'm sure both Ms. Lynch and Ms. ... um... Bayley(?) will have something to say about this!

Β

✊🏿 Those who died are justified, for wearin' the badge, they're the chosen whites... You justify those that died, by wearin' the badge, they're the chosen whites!

TONIGHT!Β  We start our trip towards Saturday Night's Main Event AND Money In The Bank!Β

SUPER underrated moment of last week was AJ telling Judgement Day that R Truth was the one who told him how to get into the clubhouse.

Β

(I honestly do not remember this being on MTV. Like at all. I think I saw it once at like 2am back in the day. That said, I was drunk a LOT back then.)

Enjoy the week. Don't do what they told ya!

That's one of your best wrestling music topic titles, Kelvin.

Opening with Punk and co. was a solid follow up to last week's main event.

Penta/Gable was pretty solid. Kind of dug them continuing the idea of Gable not being able to handle luchadores. I assume a match with EGA is on the horizon.

Creeds vs. War Raiders was good fun. Enjoyed the New Day on commentary and how they screwed the Raiders. Still sad to see them not have level of momentum they did before due to HHH cooling on them the first few months of the year. Hopefully they let them do some crowd work sooner than later to get some of it back.

Gunther announcing himself as the next challenger after Jey/Paul was nice. Kind of like how their is just a subtle pull back by Gunther when Jey responded on the mic. Gunther isn't afraid per say, but he knows on some level Jey is not the guaranteed win he thought he was prior despite his words.

AJ/Finn built into a fine match. Was nice to see Penta make the save late in continuing his own feud with Judgement Day. Looking forward to the inevitable Dom/AJ title match.

Becky's promo was solid. Curious to see how the declaration herself back into the Man actually goes character wise.

Io/Rhea vs. Giulia/Roxanne wasn't smoothest, but everything came together pretty well as a whole. I thought Giulia and Roxanne did well for themselves here though I do think this was a match they should have won. While I don't think Giulia lost much taking the pinfall the women's ace in Rhea I do still think this was a spot that should have gone to Roxanne instead if they were going to lose. I've enjoyed this feud though I'm left wondering why Roxanne and Giulia haven't already been moved up. Neither needs to be in NXT and the Raw needs them more at this point. Hopefully HHH moves things forward sooner than later, but the women's division has been one of his biggest weaknesses the past couple of years.

Β

The wrestling was good with AJ/Finn and the women's tag being the standouts. Io/Rhea vs. Giulia/Roxanne was probably MOTN for me. Dug what we got storywise for th emost part as well with SNME starting to take shape finally. Pretty solid show.

I'm torn on Jey Uso feuding with everyone. On one hand, it's great because everyone should always want the championship but it's so early in his first ever reign that he really needs some kind of focus. You also don't want to overexpose him because more opponents means more segments on TV. It's bad enough his primary feud since Mania has been with someone who only shows up a quarter of the shows at best.

She's been taking random losses all over TV with no buildup,Β  we've seen this story before.Β  They don't book the Rhea's and Charlotte's of the world like that or now Vaquer, you know when HHH wants to protect someone, we know his pattern.Β

If she hadn’t lost last week on NXT then she’d be losing to Vaquer again at Battleground. Would that make you happier? It seems like you have an agenda and it’s not a good one.Β

In the year 2025, who could possibly care about Seth Rollins, Top Heel?

In the year 2015, when Seth Rollins was the top heel. That was worse as he was WWE Champion.Β

I will always be baffled by the WWE office's insistence that Seth Rollins was a better choice than Dean Ambrose to build around after the Shield broke up.Β

Naw, it makes sense from Vince's perspective. He didΒ fauxΒ hardcore during the Attitude era when he thought he had to, but he always hated the real bloody stuff because he wanted wrestling to be mainstream and he felt hardcore dragged it back to the low class carny era. Ambrose/Mox, meanwhile, is so hardcore-obsessed that he's getting spiked bats stuck in his back and going to work indie death matches even as a highly-paid multi-time World Champion. I guarantee that within a few minutes of Ambrose first pitching ideas to Vince, McMahon probably rolled his eyes and thought, "I wanna make this guy Roddy Piper and instead he wants to be fucking Raven."

Meanwhile Seth is the biggest company suck-up in the WWE. So yeah, I'm not surprised Vince went the way he did.

Plus Ambrose would have made zero sense with the Authority. Why would they align with a guy whose nickname was the Lunatic Fringe? Like how’s that fit the suit and tie image they had? It’s fine to say Ambrose should’ve got a push but he wouldn’t have fit the one they gave Rollins.Β

Oh, I don’t think it should’ve been Dean in Seth’s place in the Authority. That should’ve been Roman. They just should’ve gone all the way with Ambrose as the anti-hero.

Seth made more sense as a corporate suckup than Roman or Moxley. He was also the least over and needed that support. He just shouldn't have actually made it to the point of champ yet outside of maybe a short few weeks reign. He was not remotely ready for the top heel run he had.

The most ironic thing about Seth Rollins to me is that, his WWE tribalism aside, he's pretty much a perfect fit for the AEW main event style. Meltzer would probably drool over a 30-minute Rollins-Ospreay MOVES~!!!fest...

What would make me happier is a clear story arc or clear direction to go along with some depth to her character.Β  What's my "agenda"?Β  Β

It feels like when people lose to your favorite in AEW you applaud it and give countless reasons why it’s good, but when someone you like loses like Giulia you’re the first to hop on the oh whoa is them they’re being buried train. Keep that same energy when Mercedes needlessly goes over Hayter at Double or Nothing.

Sounds like you're the one with the agenda.Β  Hayter has already been a world champion in AEW,Β  the situations wouldn't be comparable at all and AEW is building to their biggest show of the year.Β  I don't know which way it's going to go but I'd need to hear why Hayter should win and not Mercedes before I engage further.Β Β

Wouldn't it have meant more to have Giulia or Roxxane pin one of them? They could still further the Rhea/Iyo feud even with a loss, and it's not like Rhea can't take a pin at this point in her career. I really don't understand why putting someone into a match with a former World champion even matters, especially when they cut promos saying they're the new shit on the RAW brand and then they lose. I mean, losing is nothing new for either of them, they haven't won anything since February, but that's not the point.
