Dolfan in NYC Posted March 24 Posted March 24 I'm only happy when it rains. I'm only happy when it's complicated. And though I know you can't appreciate it, I'm only happy when it rains... The WWE is in Europe! Will they ever come back? Who knows! But Roman Reigns went all the way to Italy to call out both CM Punk AND Seth Rollins. And he got an answer! And we got a match for WrestleMania! But that's not all that happened last week... You know I love it when the news is bad... Why it feels so good to feel so sad? I'm only happy when it rains... John Cena explained himself! And basically said... Fuck them kids! Pour your misery down, pour your misery down on me... Pour your misery down, pour your misery down on me! We're in Scotland tonight! And Jey Uso NEEDS A TAG TEAM PARTNER! Who could it be? Well, I think I know... maybe a guy who's last appearance was apparently just to impress Sheamus: Spoiler Boy you can REALLY hear his accent on the word "Scotland". Tune in and see who it is! (The mid-90's-ness of this video could be bottled and sold.) Enjoy the week! 4
Curt McGirt Posted March 24 Posted March 24 That sounded like the aftermath of a hostile marriage counseling session, where somebody ends up breaking the good china and storming out of the house to a motel room. Hey guys, I think John Cena might be good at this professional wrestling thing. 2
odessasteps Posted March 24 Posted March 24 Cena needs to bring back Star Maker Kenny Bolin as his manager. 2
Casey Posted March 24 Posted March 24 I'm really not into the WrestleMania build-up this year. Nothing is really hitting for me. I did get a chuckle out of Jey's mystery partner and the ensuing meltdown on Reddit. 1
Eivion Posted March 24 Posted March 24 Dug Cena's promo from last week more, but I thought the faceoff with Cody worked better this week. Usos vs. A-Town Down Under was pretty solid. The post match with Gunther was interesting with Jey slipping on the spear attempt. Kind of love them using that and flub from last week to play into Jimmy hyping Jey up. And damn was that slap from Jimmy to Gunther hard. Actually looking forward to seeing what Gunther can do with Jimmy. Raquel/Lyra was nice though it's still a shame to see Raquel continue to have no real momentum with the audiences for her matches. She needs some rebuilding with actual wins for a while. Still, it was good to see the audience decently into Lyra. The post match with the beatdown by Liv and Raquel and save by Bayley makes me wonder if that is the tag titles match for Wrestlemania. The Io/Bianca/Rhea segment was solid. It's a little sad to see Bianca booed when Rhea is clearly the one in the wrong during so much of this, but I do love how over Io has been. This is the first big bit of momentum she has had in years on the main roster so it's been good seeing them stick to it and make sure she comes out looking good. Even with the tease of a proper singles for Wrestlemania that segment had way too much of a 3-way tease to not do it. Bianca getting named special guest ref makes that even more obvious. Still, enjoyed her befuddled response to Pearce when he made that decision. Americano/Dragon was good though the finish felt like something that should have been a dq given the mask rip. Still loving everything they are doing with El Grande Americano so far. That earlier video in the night was dumb fun, and the setup for the match with gable claiming to be sick was amusing as well. Bron/Penta was good up until the expected Dom/Carlito interference. The post match with Finn's return and Penta turning down the Judgement Day offer was decent enough. At least one too few matches for my tastes, but what we got was generally good. Americano/Dragon was MOTN, but everything felt like it was worth a catch at least. The general build for Wrestlemania was mostly good. Penta/Bron happening here does make me curious what the IC title match will end up being. Solid show. 2

It made sense and worked better for the story, but teasing a mystery partner in Scotland and not delivering Joe Hendry was just dumb. They should have had said Jimmy upfront. 1 1
username Posted March 25 Posted March 25 Dragon Lee and Americano having no idea what a TV match is and busting out a random apron exploder to the floor sure caught my attention. 2
EVA Posted March 25 Posted March 25 Someone should be brought up on charges for the continued booking malfeasance with Gable. This term is overused on the internet today, but he’s legitimately a generational talent, and it sucks that he’s continuously shunted into low-card comedy stuff. Just a year ago he had the crowd dying for him to take the IC title off Gunther. And then had the crowd out of his blood when he turned on Sami. Now he’s doing a lowest common denominator Bruce Pritchard Special gimmick. Gable can make anything work, so he’ll be fine. And this is several orders of magnitude greater than Shorty G. But he still deserves way better. 3 1
Craig H Posted March 25 Posted March 25 Why the fuck doesn't Cena ever bring up how he found the love and respect he deserves in Hollywood, which is why he aligned himself with the Rock? Also, why the fuck has the Rock disappeared from this storyline except for Pat bringing him up for a second? What fucking sense does it make to want a corporate champ who will give you their soul and do everything they tell you to do and then go with...the fucking guy who is leaving wrestling for good in a handful of months? Also, WHAT SENSE DOES IT MAKE TO WANT A PUPPET/CORPORATE CHAMPION AND A PERSON TO GIVE YOU THEIR SOUL WHEN THAT PERSON IS NOW GOING TO WIN THE TITLE AND RETIRE WITH IT?! WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON HERE?!? Fuck this. What a bunch of stupid fucking booking. 2 1

TheVileOne Posted March 25 Posted March 25 Sadly, the cracks in WWE's creative are really starting to show in the build to WrestleMania. They've got too many guys than they know what to do with, too many guys who have been working hard and want their shot, and not enough slots to service them all. Uso vs. Gunther has completely run out of steam, and they haven't been treating him like a top guy. Shouldn't Gunther have come out and tried to like hospitalize Jimmy Uso to play mind games with Jey? Where are they going with this Grand Americano business? I don't get it. Frankly, I don't really care about CM Punk vs. Seth Rollins vs. Roman Reigns. A Triple Threat makes no sense to me. It seems pointless. Roman Reigns vs. CM Punk could've been huge and had a lot of intrigue. Instead, it's a dumb Triple Threat. Now it feels like WrestleMania is going to be Cena vs. Cody and a bunch of multi-person clusterfrells. 4

That's it. Very poor Road to WrestleMania. 1
Eivion Posted March 25 Posted March 25 Honestly, I don't think the Road to Wrestlemania has been particularly great, but it's at least been solid. I feel the complaints here are more on people's personal interest in particular wrestlers vs. the actual booking which I get. 1
TheVileOne Posted March 25 Posted March 25 I think parts of it are definitely solid because the wrestlers are over, the product is hot, and the wrestling is mostly good. But as I said, the cracks are showing because WWE has too much TV time and too many guys than they know what to do with, and it's clearly straining Triple H and his team. As another example, John Cena isn't even scheduled to appear on Raw or SmackDown after next week's Raw.
SirFozzie Posted March 25 Posted March 25 Less is more with Cena, because that was one hell of a promo. Shades of Mick Foley's anti-hardcore run in ECW. He's doing what a good heel should do, use a twisted version of the truth to feel perfectly justified in what he did and what he plans to do. 3
EVA Posted March 25 Posted March 25 I feel bad for Cena, because he’s giving it his all to make this heel turn work, but both he and Cody are totally hamstrung because apparently nobody knows where this is going with the Rock until he shows up and says so. They’re just going to keep running this same bit (15 minutes of Cena getting heat, 5 minute Cody retort) every week.

But isn't it plausible the kayfabe plan from The Rock is to break Cody with Cena? Cena takes off with the belt. Cody is demoralized and disillusioned, thus easier to control afterwards. That's not how the story will play out. But it's at least a plausible motivation for The Rock. It's not as directionless as you make it seem. It's just they haven't gotten to the heavy lifting stuff without The Rock around. Keep in mind how slow The Bloodline stories moved. This is the story for the rest of 2025. Expecting all the answers and exposition in time for Wrestlemania is setting yourself up for annoyance.
Johnny Sorrow Posted March 25 Posted March 25 I don't care that they aren't talking about the Rock because he's not needed for the story, to be honest. 3
Curt McGirt Posted March 25 Posted March 25 "RICKY MORTON ONCE TOLD ME HE WAS GONNA BEAT ME UP BECAUSE I WAS ROOTING FOR THE ROAD WARRIORS!" Way to break kayfabe Ricky 1
Phantom Lord Posted March 25 Posted March 25 I liked Cena's promo last night. Yea it could be better, but the crowd hates him so he is doing his job. The Rock could satellite a promo in though for some context. I loved the El Grande Americano promo. It was so hokey it was perfect. He needs a new finisher though just to keep the illusion. That can't be Chad Gable. He doesn't do that. But I loved everything about it though. Penta vs Bron was good till the end. My guess we are going to get lucha bros. And Bron vs judgement day way mania. 1
Niners Fan in CT Posted March 25 Posted March 25 So far, the Cena stuff is leaving me cold. I think his promos have been mostly good but they also feel a bit forced and it's crazy to me that he and The Rock aren't going to be on every show leading up to WM and causing havoc. It's not hitting for me if they aren't putting 100% into it.

The booking of Rhea in this feud with Iyo/Bianca has been god awful.

Cliff Hanger Posted March 26 Posted March 26 Welp, they certainly surprised me with the ending. Chase-Page was fun, but didn't really hit the heights I'd hoped for when they set it up. Could have used a week or two of build. Related: if Andre gets a slot at SAD and finally makes it thru the "what's that spell?" stomps there without giving up or getting countered, the crowd will go fucking berserk. Frazer vs Cody? Eh? Eh? I am not sure the implications of the DiAngelo Family segment are good for the performers in that stable. I have no idea how they want me to feel about Trick right now, which bothers me. I think him TSing Oba only to get caught by Evans and pinned after the tornillo or OG Cutter would be wild, but I don't know if it'd be smart wild or "turn Austin heel at the Astrodome" wild. I hope Noam is able to come back soon, even if not cleared yet. S.a.D. would be perfect.
